Hi, would it be possible for you to recommend some UK dog food. I’m currently thinking about butternut box but I’m not sure and is quite expensive. Also need treat ideas for uk. I get my new puppy in two weeks and I’ve been watching all your videos. I don’t want to feed him processed foods. We have a shop called “pets at home” I think the majority of people shop there in the uk
We absolutely LOVE Cuddly! They’ve done soooo much for the rescue I foster for, Cuddle Babies Rescue in Malvern, Arkansas! They go above and beyond for our babies!
Excellent video. I started brushing my dogs teeth a few months ago when I started her on a homemade diet. I found your diy recipe you did a while ago and you're right she loves it. She got a free toothbrush from her vet. Tfs, Kay & Brooklyn 🐶
Try the Jasper silicone finger brush. I use toothbrushes sometimes too but for some of my dogs it is much easier for them and for me to use that finger brush that is soft but has a ton of bristles all over it. It’s great
I teach human nutrition - the overall idea is to eat whole, natural foods and try to eliminate highly processed foods. Kibble is highly processed foods for dogs. So when my vet tells me that kibble is "balanced" and raw is not makes me question them. Love the homemade toothpaste idea!
Raw is balanced. But let's be honest, some pet owners don't know what a balanced raw meat diet looks like. You'll be surprised at how many people thinks giving dog raw beef and egg is a completely balanced diet for dogs.
@@kaitlinski493 yeah everything seems good but a little pricey for me. I could give my dog bones but unfortunately he eats them too quily and after eating them he just throws up. Sometimes I give him cow skin bones
At this "Time" I don't know Anyone, that Could Afford to Feed their Pets a Raw Natural Diet. We Can't Afford to Buy Our Selves Food to Eat. It's Sickening...how The Prices on Everything is Sky high !
She never actually show how to brush the dog teeth, all she does is advertising all these products almost to the end of the video, I tried to fast forward, but she is still talking about the products. I clicked on the next video that actually teach how to brush the dog teeth properly 😴
I started brushing my dog's teeth from the very beginning, when he was a puppy, and have been doing it daily. He's 2 years old now, but last week he started growling at me when I was brushing his teeth, so now I'm afraid of getting into his mouth. He's never liked it, but has put up with it, only allowing me to do it for about 20 or 30 seconds at a time, until now that he's decided no more. I've tried a few times again, but his demeanor tells me he's getting ready to snap, so I quit before even getting any significant accomplishment. I've had dogs before that allowed me to brush their teeth without issue, but I'm worried that if I can't get this guy's teeth brushed, he'll have teeth and health issues, and yet I don't want to lose a finger trying.
I brushed my dogs teeth last night. I used coconut oil, organic unrefined as described and baking soda. After, my pup seemed agitated and she also had the runs.
Baking soda is too abrasive and can ruin enamel, bully chews marrow bones and antlers all can crack teeth. Google it found this out $2000 later when it happened. Over time the weakening of the teeth will lead to the full crack. I read that these chews are the same hardness of their teeth which is too hard. You should be able to see a finger nail imprint on anything they chew like a kong
One big problem - my little rescue dog is very "protective" of his mouth. So trying to brush doesn't really work. I put doggie toothpaste on a "finger" brush & let him lick it off. Even the vet has to wait for him to be anesthetized for a dental exam before they can check his teeth. It must be working because he is 2.5 yo and had his 1st dental exam last week and just had some plaque & a little tartar on his canines - no extractions! Just a clean & polish - the vet said it was the best dental exam she's had this year.
This is 💯 right. I used to give my late cat those Dental crunchies (greenies) thinking they actually helped clean the teeth in reality they probably worsened it. If you think about it, animals like cats and wolf that live outside don't have dental disease because they eat raw meat and bones. Not over-processed dry food that sticks to their teeth
Yes loving this video my pup always gets compliments on his teeth so proud lol quick edit: if anyone gets any Antlers for there dogs make sure u watch them cause my dog slipt his under the oven he was so sad lol also my marshals sells so many raw treats it’s amazing they have pig ears, cow ears, beef teachca (sorry for spelling), chicken feet, fish skins and much more it’s amazing glad to see more stores selling them!
Do you have a video showing how to train a puppy to take to tooth brushing? I can't find one and my 6 month old just keeps wanting to bite the toothbrush. He loves the toothpaste, but will bite the brush even without it...lol
My diy toothpaste is coconut oil based too, but 2 of my dogs have seizures triggered by salt, so i cant use baking soda. I use diatomaceous earth for abrasive instead. And i add a little sesame seed oil to help losen plaque, and a few drops of spear mint oil. They hate getting their teeth brushed, but they LOVE the toothpaste!
Don't use diatomaceous earth that should not be ingested or get into the lungs, too many advertisements are incorrect and create misuse of products to sell them.

He's never been great at letting me brush his mouth, and now that he's old and mixing lots of teeth, I can't give him the hard chews. He's in need of a tooth extraction again. I can't find an insurance company that will take him on, and the cost of the extraction is something I can't afford right now. Do you have any resources that could help me find him a vet that will work with me on the price? I live in northern California.
Great video! I have been brushing my dogs teeth with this same recipe for years! They love the taste and come and sit in my bathroom waiting for their teeth to be brushed every night before bed. Quick question on the chews. Are there specific ones that you referenced in your video that would be safe for puppies? We have an 11 week old puppy. That’s an excellent question. Did you start the raw dog food ? I have 3 dogs I don’t even know where to start cuz it gets so confusing at times on what’s best for the dogs …
So glad I found your channel, I’ve learned so much and so has my husband, we are getting a puppy this weekend! Our puppy is currently eating Purina puppy chow, how do you recommend transitioning to a fresh food diet, is it a slow transition? I am not a fan of processed anything myself and don’t want to cause digestive upset if we up and switch right away. She will be 8 weeks when we bring her home.
What we did is just mixed the raw with the kibble together for a few days and then just gave him raw and he was fine. The worst your pup will get is diarrhea (if the transition is too fast or he's not used to raw) and while it's of course not too fun for them, they won't be seriously hurt or anything. :)
As a dental hygienist, I really want to brush my puppies teeth. I am going to use the coconut oil and baking soda, also contrary to what most people think baking soda is a low abrasive in toothpaste which is a good thing!
Hi Rachel! Love your videos. I've learned so much. How can I start with video #1 through today's. I'm hopping all over the place. I watch whatever TH-cam sends me in my feeds. Thanks!
I use Manuka honey 🍯 twice a day. My dog loves his teeth brush because I started doing it the moment he was given to me. My Dutch Shepherd teeth are pearly whites.
I started out only brushing my puppy's teeth only when I remember to. When Rachel said that their heart and over all health partly depend on oral health I started brushing his teeth EVERY DAY. If you have trouble brushing your puppy's teeth, try making them get some sleep after dinner for about 2 hours so they will be calm. This is what worked for me.
I am going to try this natural toothpaste recipe! I just wanted to make sure whether it is harmful to use baking soda or not if I am planning to brush my dog's teeth 2x/day everyday?
Great video and wonderful tips! I can’t wait to use them. I do have concerns about the sheep horn. I’ve been told that antler horns are just too hard for dogs, and it can fracture or split their teeth. Is the sheep horn “softer”? I don’t want to hurt her teeth trying to do the right thing. Also, my vet said bones are a usually a no go because they splinter and can hurt their insides. Thoughts? Thanks so much for your help!
Hi Rachel! Tried the toothpaste today for my new puppy. She didn’t like the toothpaste flavor, but loved the toothbrush. Do you have any other recommendations for homemade toothpaste? Thanks!
My dog suffers from warts and sabacious cysts and the vet wants to amputate his tail I have tried everything known to me and gone through hours of info nothing is working do you have any advice please from a desperate mummy x
I am picking up my Goldendoodle puppy tomorrow. I have been watching you on TH-cam for a few years now. I plan to brush her teeth every day. Do I wait for her permanent teeth come in or start right away so that she is getting used to brushing?
We have dog all my life. We feed them the same food we eat ( not the process food is used today) and they were happy and healthy. People has been brainwashed over the years to believe the only food they can eat is the dry food in a package.
Okay I get it that bad bacteria affects oral health. So a probiotic added. But the round soup bones my dog chews involves his back teeth and front. He gets bully sticks too. Why is this not sufficient?
Rachel, I see you are recommending using baking soda for toothpaste, I've read that Dr. Judy Morgan doesn't recommend baking soda for dogs. Have you revised your opinion on this?

@@AA-ho5mg I clean their teeth with a toothbrush and coconut oil mixed with baking soda and a little oregano oil mixed in, I also have a dental scraper I would use sometimes and remove any plaque that's hanging about near the gums, their breath doesn't smell.
I have always been afraid of raw bones because my dog is strong and will break the bone. How do you keep your dogs from swalling small sharp bone pieces?
Don't listen to her, marrow bones antlers and bully sticks will lead to small chips/ cracks in teeth and then fill splits. My dog after a few years I realized had chips and one day the tooth split down the middle to the root. $2000 ...all vets Will tell you they are too hard
It's usually in every grocery store because it's used in baking. Hope you can get someone in the store to show you. It's also less than $1 per box. ; )
Rachel, you just discouraged people from adopting a dog, because not everyone can afford these products that what we should be doing for our pets. I own two small dogs I fed them premium freeze dried raw food, and was spending a lot of money, because it’s not cheap my two dogs got itchy skin mushy poop, so I went back to a kibble 4 pound bag that cost $27.00 dogs love it and their poop is hard and perfectly formed. Perhaps to make it healthier I can add broccoli and some medium rare ground turkey meat which they love.
What's your thoughts on sea kelp to sprinkle in dogs food does it help clean teeth? I have been trying to brush my teeth for over a year and she still won't let me do it she barely makes me rub toothpaste on her teeth she dont like people in her mouth
I feed my cats and dog N&D from Farmina. Which is at least 90% protein. Can you please give me your opinion. Isn't baking soda and parsley bad for dogs and cats? I hope you answer me soon. GOD bless you all.🙏😊💖🥰 P.S.; I put apple cider vinegar with the mother in the water for all my fur babies. It's very good for their gut health, their bladder,kidneys,.... And it makes them drink more, specially for the cats.
She doesn’t rlly support breeding her saying is save all the damn dogs meaning she wants people to adopt but she has videos on what u need for puppies if that helps once the pups are born

Is baking soda really good for dogs? I've heard that we should not use baking soda as a toothpaste.
Your links do not work
isnt feeding too much coconut oil to your dog harmful? and if we brush their teeth using it, would they be eating it?
Is it really safe to give them the baking soda ? And can I use that on my own teeth lol
That’s like saying eating corn nuts should keep human teeth clean 😂
I have always been afraid of raw bones because my dog is strong and will break the bone. How do you keep your dogs from swalling small sharp bone pieces?
Don't listen to her, marrow bones antlers and bully sticks will lead to small chips/ cracks in teeth and then fill splits. My dog after a few years I realized had chips and one day the tooth split down the middle to the root. $2000 ...all vets Will tell you they are too hard
You should create a dog box that we can subscribe to to send us stuff for our babies!
What a fun idea! 🙈🙈
Hi Rachel I am a big fan and I was wondering if you have any tips for training two puppies at the same time
I thought this was about brushing teeth
About the water-is giving a dog well water that has gone through a softener bad? We live out in the country and that is our source of water.
Hi Rachel!! The other day I found some stray kittens. I want to help them but I'm not able to keep them. What should I do?
I recommend finding some good shelters for them of taking them to the vet to see if they have owners by seeing if there microshiped
I can't find baking soda anywhere. Is baking powder ok too?
No, it’s not the same thing. Another name for baking soda is bicarbonate of soda, so try looking for that name instead.
GOD bless you all.🙏😊💖🥰
P.S.; I put apple cider vinegar with the mother in the water for all my fur babies. It's very good for their gut health, their bladder,kidneys,.... And it makes them drink more, specially for the cats.
I can't wait to watch.
Thank you something I need for Benji he hates it thanks Rachel ❤️
