Why the yak chews? The 3 ingredients in them are harmful/toxic to dogs, especially the lemon/limes. And I’m seeing them everywhere 😮

She's actively lying and misleading. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist but she's got no clue about humans or dogs. She thinks e numbers are all synthetic ffs - people haven't thought e numbers were bad since the 80s. Added vitamins are coded with e numbers

I have a 7 yo YorkiePoo (11 lbs) and have always given her Bully Stick to chew on - nothing else (!) because of the fact that they ARE natural! As natural as they are, they are BAD for dogs teeth! My dog ended up fracturing a molar and a premolar overtime from chewing on them! Vet said they see a lot of fractured teeth in dogs from chewing Bully Sticks! While some dogs probably go on with their lives not having any issues chewing on them, most pet parents aren't even aware that their dogs may have fractured a tooth or two! Dental issues on dogs are NOT easy to detect because dogs STILL eat regardless of the pain. (Even with a broken jaw, a dog will STILL eat), so pet parents will assume there's no dental issues because their dog is still eating and chews on things. My dog had abcess where the fractured teeth were and we had no idea how long she had them BECAUSE she continued to eat and chew! Not too sure about the other recommendations, but Bully Stick in my book is a No No! They should ban those!

Hey Rachel! Thank you so much for sharing this. We love the native pet yak chews too! I notice the yellow yak chew holder(?) Finn was holding. What is that? We definitely need to get that. Holding the yak chew directly with the paws hurts my pup a bit and causes some discomfort. This holder looks like a great option.

Try rubbing coconut oil on the gum line with your finger. It is antibacterial and will help break down the plaque. Then you can give something later in the day or evening like a bully stick or turkey neck to chew on.

I have a rescued feral Pitty who lived for the first 8 months of his life on his own. We noticed him eating grass and digging up roots. As he is very hard to feed (never ate the recommended daily amount of kibble) usually eating 1/2 the amount. Tried feeding him various fresh veggies without success. I found "Minties" which is the only dog chew I can find with actual chlorophyll from mint and alfalfa. He loves these and I suspect it prompts him to drink water (he's dehydrated and got a severe infection) now, we add chicken Jerky and Jerky/sweet potato treats. We suspect "Buddy" survived the widespread flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Which possibly causes him to be averse to water. I'm looking into wet dog food options to bolster his moisture/nutrient intake.

If none of these are in your budget just use peeled carrots - - might have to. Slice or chop em depending on your dog size(don't use baby carrots in fear of choking hazard) or celery occasionally (still high in sugar but more nutrients) . Supervise your dogs while chewing it and hey, save you a lot of bucks, still consult your vet beforehand if you are concerned about it.

Please be careful with yak chews! my dog has a habit of not chewing and does swallow pretty big pieces whole. She swallowed the last piece of her yak chew and caused a major indiscretion in her intestine. Really thought she had an obstruction as she had one before that time. Fortunately, she pooped out the piece, but I will never give her that again.

We have a number of smaller companies in Australia that specialise in single protein source dog treats. These are 100 natural sourced from animals in Australia. Products like lamb or beef tracheas, kangaroo tails an ribs, reef fish chicken hearts, wild venison etc. All naturally dried with nothing added. They are expensive to buy of course, but one of the things I like most about companies that provide this type of natural protein is that they are taking animal parts that may other wise go to waste and using them to provide healthy options. In my opinion, by sourcing ethically farmed animals and then not allowing anything to go to waste, you are doing the best for your dog and best for the environment and farming community.

Thank you for your video content. I love your attitude about being the best pet parent or dog owner possible. I have the green stuff and I read what the package says, but the ingredients just don’t back up their claims. Most widely available options don’t. I enjoy trying your treat suggestions but my female poodle just doesn’t like some of it (like freeze dried liver) so I give them cooked chicken, ground beef, cheese or their food for treats. Keep making these informative videos, I appreciate them.

@@RachelFusaro I have the coco chews and they seem pretty good, but I do notice several fibers coming out and my small dogs easily pull them out of the woven rope and seemingly eat them. Is that pretty normal for the fibers to come out that easily? I guess they’re thin and fairly small but I always get paranoid when toys or chews start losing fibers, fur, little pieces of the material used, etc. Is that your experience as well?

Hey Rachel, do you have any tips on how to get your dog to eat any medicine they have to take? Like antibiotics for example, my golden got an ear infection and some rashes due to allergies and the hot weather here in Florida. I’ve been having to give him antibiotics twice a day for a week. I tried wrapping it in cheese, (he doesn’t like peanut butter), I even bought those pill pockets (horrible ingredients) and he won’t eat (too smart for his own good). Do you have this problem with your doggos? Also, do your dogs suffer from seasonal allergies?

I just found your video but wowww I can't believe you'd recommend Yak Chews, they're absolutely horrible for dog's teeth. They're extremely hard and have read tons of bad reviews on dog's losing their teeth and needing expensive dental work due to it.

What’s your opinion on beef trachea for teeth cleaning? My dog chipped a tooth on a bone recently and I’m nervous about what to give her as a replacement

Great video :) very important information..Thank you so much :)
A couple times i have bought the minty greens from "hunter".. have no idea what was in them but they remind me of the tweezers or what ever they are called. same texture..Hard and Brittle ..
    Not going buy them again..
Just ordered calcium bones from the same brand.. Will deff. have a look at the package when they arrive.. They smell very good and get's a bit soft when chewing. You can actually bend them slightly. . I have never had any bad experiences with them.. - like i have had 3 times with pedigree pal's dentastix. They broke off between the canine teeth and was stuck to the upper gum ( all 3 different german shepherds ).. Just think how it could have ended if they were left alone because they panicked...
So i mostly I give my dog natural chews...Made of 100% dried meat. Dried fishskin, etc. Feeding mostly raw but because we travel quite a bit i do give kibble as the last meal in the evening - but i feed Orijen - it was best quality food i could find AND the only kibble my spoilt rotten dutchie want's to eat.. .
For treats : chicken and liver.
regarding kibble and some treats: It scared the S*** out of me when i heard that the meat powder that is super processed and used as the protein in many treats and espec. kibble is actually detected by the immunesystem as a threat.. Like a foreign object in the body so the immune system get's into high alert.. but it start attacking the body because it can not sort out the meat so you get auto immune diseases like severe allergy... made me shiver... i am never ever going to give my dog anything that has what we call . Meat flour.. / Meat powder..

I love your vids sooo much! My 12 wk silver lab came to us from the breeder with a sack of breeder only premium kibble and the breeder insists we cannot change bran or add any treats/chews, until our puppy is 1 year! My puppy has terrible diarrhoea a lot though and I’m concerned about the high carbs/unnatural type kibble etc, please could you advise what I can do at this stage. Can I change his food? Can I add treats/chews at this stage? Thank you 🙏❤️

you can always change your puppies food/treats dont listen to that breeder unless they your puppy has medical records of having allergies or other problems🤔 and if you want to try out new foods try out Diamond Naturals Large Breed puppy food got 2 different breeds on it and their poop is always firm

My puppy too. He can only handle half cup of kibble per day, so we do Farmer’s Dog for the rest of his diet. So far we have found that Bernie’s Perfect Poop can help also with diarrhea. Plus a good probiotic. Also fecal test to rule Giardia.

I'm desperately trying to find the name of the female owned company you mentioned in your dog treats video, I cannot find a link under that video to the Austin based business. Please share the name of the company or direct link as I would like to contact them to place an order. Thank you.

Mint oils are toxic to dogs, so I stopped using these because of these and starches and synthetic ingredients

Lemons and limes are toxic to dogs, salt and dairy isn’t very good for them… since they’re lacking enzymes that break it down, so why have the Himalayan chews been SO popular all over Amazon and homemade versions? (All 3 ingredients used for them are harmful!) I just don’t get it. I’ve been researching chews to make my pup at home, and that’s all I see now.

My 9-year-old Chiweenie became diabetic after having denta sticks every other day for a month. 6 months later he had to be put down even though he was on insulin.
