House is looking good folk's. I'd always keep a door separating the living room to keep the heat in over winter. Really enjoyed this house renovation series 👍
You know there will be an icy draught into the front room every time the front door is opened. Plus you won't be able to escape the children and their mess if left open. One adult sanctuary place is a must. The colour of the dining table is perfect - gives warmth and cosy feels.
Great job so far! The DIY stained table looks more tasteful and rustic than a Scandinavian finish❤ I also thing the patio door would look best painted black x
Finally finished my house. Took me much longer than I had anticipated but I was working on my own and number one mistake was not planning ahead and ended up repeating jobs. Especially when your living in the property it’s even more difficult and knowing what rooms t9 start first in what order is not easy. It would be great if you guys after you’ve finished could go over any mistakes you made along the way and how you would approach it differently on your next project. If your anything like me I can’t see you stopping after this one.
Stumbled across your YT and can’t wait to catch up! Agreed! Renovation work is crazy and do take longer than expected. We’ve been renovating for the last 2 years with lots to do. Definitely keep it black. X
Awh, such a lovely comment, thanks so much! It 100% takes longeer than expected, just taking it a day at the time! Thanks for the vote for the doors!!! ⚫❤
Should put a door there for the hallway into living room, it's nice to close in the heat at winter times. Considering front door is right next to it aswell.
Top job guys! 🎉 You're really smashing it, making both a beautiful home, but also memories to last a lifetime! 😊 Looking forward to seeing how the downstairs goes in the next ep! xx
Another fab video! Love the table and seating area, definitely keep the colour of the table looks awesome and the French doors I’d go for black now everything has been painted around them. Look forward to the next video! Alison x
Thanks so much Alison, we’re chuffed you like the stain on the table! I think we’re team black for the doors as well now to be honest, we can’t wait to show you them in the next episode!! 🥳👍🏻
Fabulous vid as always! Love watching your progress. Was so lovely to see Danni joining you for some sisterly help! Glad you got the radiators sorted. Still sage green for the patio doors. Less harsh especially as you’re in the countryside. You want a cottagy feel rather than a modern office feel! I’m not sure about the interior door though. It’s nice to open it up a bit and feel spacious but on the practical side a door will keep drafts from coming into the lounge whenever the front door is opened. Sorry that’s no help really!! Can’t wait to see the next video. Xxx
Was really funny watching Danni and Nicky’s footage back- they looked like they had a real laugh! Definitely something to consider with the door colours, however we have noticed a trend out in Suffolk of barns with terracotta roof tiles and black features- so it may not be the same ‘office feel’ for black out here! Think we’re going to wait and see how cold we’re getting throughout the winter and can always add a door frame back into the porch area if we’ve made a little oopsie! 🙊
As money is tight you should leave the patio doors in grey as they look really good anyway. As for hall door in to lounge, you should have a door hung as you’ll need it in the winter. If you have a draft from the front door or you have to open it. All the could will go into the lounge plus privacy. You’re doing a great job keep going
I think the original number 1 still has my heart! The vets looks amazing but the other two I didn’t love unfortunately. Good luck with continuing the search or making the decision. :)
I know who I’ll be coming to for a dining table now 👀😍 love love love and I think the stained wood compliments your kitchen nicely! Well done guys! I reckon black for the french doors but also think they look good as they are atm anyway x
Thank you Em! We do like a bit of stained wood (but are a bit worried we may have gone 1 coat too many)… French doors aren’t so bad as they are, but think a fresh coat of black will make the world of difference! 🖤
Love the idea for the bench seat. Think I would have continued the panelling into the window area too though. Re. the lounge door, I would probably keep it. Looks lovely open plan but that hallways the coldest part of the house and everytime the front door opens, you'll be bringing cold air straight into your living space
Thank you, we’re glad you like the bench seat area, and interesting idea to continue the panelling into the window- we didn’t even consider it as an option!! Think the lounge door removal might have been a litttle bit rash/ but we can always add a door back if we’re struggling with a draft! 👍🏻🙂
I really love how you two work together, you complement each other very well. You are very talented, concise, articulate and dedicated to your trade. Now that all of the pleasantries are out of the way, you make your videos so well and your humor and antics make it so enjoyable. I love the dark stain on your table, with so many whites and grays it really fits well. Your patio door will be stunning in black in my opinion. Looking forward to you next video.
Oh Leslie - WHAT a comment. you’ve mad our day with this!! thank you for your kind words - they really really are appreciated. ☺️ I think we’re warming to the table stain too - it reminds us of a table that Henry VIII might have, and we quite like that 🤣🤣 we’re soooo looking forward to documenting the next couple weeks as we reckon this is the turning point visually for the downstairs!!! Xx
Yes Nicky the bricky 🧱 and Harry smashing it as usual! I would leave a door for the lounge because in winter it's easier to heat the space. Love the table you made. Good job resolving the plumbing issue. Can't wait for the next one guys 😀
Thanks Smith, think the door removal may be reversed in the future, to fix the heating issue! Glad you like the table, we’re starting to love it more the more we dress it up! We can’t wait to show you some more progress in the next one!! 🙌🏻
I think it definitely looks good with no door between the lounge and porch, but those with young children would benefit from the noise insulation when they put the kids to bed 💡
You two are great! I wish I saw you wearing eye protection more consistently. It only makes one tile flake or stray splinter. You are too beautiful to have an avoidable accident from ruining your future❤❤
Thank you so much, you are right… we are extremely bad at wearing PPE. Just because of this comment we’ve planned to stop off at Screwfix today and get a load of new protective gear! Thank you! 💖
Hey Nicky & Harri 👋 Great video! I've just taken out a door casing 3 days ago & it looks really cool as it's opened up the space. I would leave the door off in that area. Lovely job of the table & the rustic stain is perfect! I do agree that the patio doors would be awesome in black. Glad you got immediate help with the rad 😮 You're the perfect team! Fabulous work! Can't wait for the next vlog! Thank you ❤❤xx
Hey Harley! Yessss we love the open space it gives by taking out the door. Bit of a game changer in our opinion too!! ah glad you like the rustic stain!! we do too! And think we agree with the black doors too!! We’re so lucky our plumber is such a good guy - it could have been a whole other experience without him!! Thanks Harley- see you next ep!!!❤️☺️
great job guys, the table looks the right stain/colour for the style , I would go with the sage green on the french doors not to the living room door looking forward to seeing it next episode.
Yaaassss guys house is looking amazing, you should be so proud of yourselves ❤ LOVE that dining area, can’t wait for a roast with you guys soon 😉LOVE YOUUUU❤❤
If you don't want a door from the hallway to the lounge, you could consider a curtain of some sort? Also, if you really need to paint the doors, I think I originally said sky blue to play off the blue theme of the kitchen. Since the options to paint were either black or green, I would say black to match its surrounding ornaments. Anyways, not surprising you've hit the inevitable hurdle that you are now dealing with sorting lots of little jobs, so the big projects and finishes slow to a crawl. That's normal with large renovations, I feel. You start realising you need to do a big sort one day, small sets of sorting another day etc.
No door to the living room is fine as long as the heating in the hall and lounge is adequate enough. And id go black for the patio doors, prefer that it matches the facias!
i would have left the door into the living room/hallway. I think it could eliminate and drafts in the winter plus there is no privacy when you open the front door. Not sure about kids but my dog would bolt out the door with nothing to stop him.
Think that’s the overall consensus Re the door removal- oopsie! 🙊 That’ll be something that we look at changing back in the next month or 2 I think!! 🙂
People tend to have their living room warmer than the rest of the house. Not having a door into the hall is a bad idea. You would lose all your heat from the living room up the stairs and outside if somebody comes to the door. We once lived in a house with stairs going upstairs directly from the living room. If anybody left a door open upstairs you immediately felt chilly. Would never have a house like that again. Love the dining area.
Thanks Darren, think the overall consensus is we made a little oopsie removing the door! It will be one of the jobs added to the snag list and will probably be added back in before winter! Cheers 🙌🏻😄
@@NickyandHarri plus, on one smaller bit of wall you will have four competing colours, the tiles on top, the bricks, the black framed mirror etc and then the sage green! Either way I’m sure you guys will style it out great
i always like doors on living rooms as it makes it more cosy, however, if you do keep it open 100% arch it off, i think arches look so much more luxurious than squared spaces 🫶🏼
We're certainly a fan of arching it off however in reality it can be a lot harder than it sounds when its brick above the door (as there is a concrete lintel currently supporting the floor above). Would definitely be do-able if it was a wooden stud wall above though! 🙌

Well done for your hard work. Keep the door to the living room, keeps heat in on winter nights and privacy from rest of the house 😊
Thanks Sarah, we've realised we may have made an oopsie regarding the heat!! 😆
100% black. Sage green is a trend and black is timeless.
Great job so far! The DIY stained table looks more tasteful and rustic than a Scandinavian finish❤ I also thing the patio door would look best painted black x
Thanks Jasmine, we're team stained as well now- especially since it's settled in a little bit!!! x

Black for the doors, love the open space instead of a door in the living room, I think a door will get in the way.
Thanks Karen, was our thinking exactly with the door into the living room- it’s quite a small space anyway so would clog up the walkway!
Should put a door there for the hallway into living room, it's nice to close in the heat at winter times. Considering front door is right next to it aswell.
Yehhh we might have to come winter if it is a little too drafty!
Top job guys! 🎉 You're really smashing it, making both a beautiful home, but also memories to last a lifetime! 😊 Looking forward to seeing how the downstairs goes in the next ep! xx
Thanks so much Kit, we’re really starting to get into a groove now and are both really enjoying every day at the mo! We hope you’re keeping well! 💖👋🏻

The stained table is nice it looks more rustic and old 👌🏻
Thanks Sam, that’s what we were going for but might have over-stained it! 😬
I would leave the door from the hallway, purely because in the winter opening the front door will remove all the heat from the living room
We did think about that, but maybe it was a bad decision because of exactly this reason… Worst comes to worst we can add another frame back in! ☺️
There are no bad decisions, just lessons learnt x

Black for the doors guys… cracking progress, congrats so far…
We’re thinking black too! Thanks Mark!☺️💪🏼
Great video, brilliant to see the house coming together! Definitely black doors if it was me!
Thanks bud- funnily enough i was painting the doors just 2 days ago, so that'll be shown in the video tomorrow with the full kitchen reveal!
Love the idea for the bench seat. Think I would have continued the panelling into the window area too though.

Great video as always guys! I would’ve left the door in but I like the stained wood for the worktop! I also prefer the black for the patio doors.
Thanks for all these inputs Jack! Think the door may be added back on in a couple of months, and the patio doors seem to be heading towards black! 🖤🙂

Lovely job of the table & the rustic stain is perfect!
I do agree that the patio doors would be awesome in black.

Thanks Steven! Yeh we’re warming to the table colour now!! It’s giving Henry V111 vibes and we kinda like it 🤣🤣

Doors sage green😊you are great young people
Thanks Betty ☺️😅🙊
Black definitely ❤
Thanks Emma! 🖤

Thanks Thomas!
Patio Doors - Black to match the paintwork, Green on the inside...
Oooooo hadn’t thought of the inside!!

Ryobi power tools, my tipe of reno people. O yes, black doors.
Hell yeah- team Ryobi!!! Thanks for the vote on the doors!!! 😀
I think it looks great without the door but it’s going to be cold in winter
Agreed Sarah, if we’re really struggling in a couple of months, it’ll be one of the snags! 👍🏻🙂
Smaller enclosed living spaces are easier to heat!
Think this is the overall consensus in the comments atm! Oopsie 🙊
That run up the stairs was more 80s comedy sketch 😂😂
🤣😅
Black doors! Good luckkk
Team Black🖤 Appreciate it!
Sage green for the farm house vibe
We do love a farmhouse vibe! 😍
Like the stain looke 😊
Us too ☺️
Great videos really enjoying the series. So are you doing this full time? Do you have savings to keep on top of payments ect?
Thank you that means a lot! Yes we are doing this full time now - TH-cam is actually our source of income! (Can’t say it’s a lot - but we get by!!) ☺️
Looking good you deffo need a living room door to keep the warm in
16:06 is favourite part 😂
A good bit of banter in that section 🤣
Open up the door in the living space
What paint did you guys use for the bench area? Heard you say Egyptian cotton but didn't catch the brand. Thanks
Egyptian Cotton is a Dulux colour.
Doors green please great job
Thanks Conor, appreciate the opinion and support!! 👋🏻
Did that doorway have a lintel?
It did indeed, otherwise it would have already fallen through!

sage green
Team green 💚
Hmmm depends on the actual green colour. What did you have in mind? Dark, med or light green?
I'm in the £330K club still 😆💰
It would be sage green to match the picnic table! 330K club is a nice and high strong guess! 💰🙂
im a big fan of sage green, but id say black
Think I’m in the same boat, love sage green - but think it’s crying out for some black paint! 🖤
