Nice video mate as always. Always nice when you can mix something you love with family. For me it's with my boy he's 9. He's got a real interest in what I do. Bought him his first drill last christmas.
I’m a plasterer and board and skim loads of these lately! Nightmare to bead up so I like the MDF route however I’m not as skilled as you with wood lol! I’m building one at home as the Mrs is on my case forever over it! Gotta say lad this looks absolutely top class! Very clever mate👊👊
Mate the only reason I use mdf is because I can’t plaster 😂😂 I don’t find it’s cleaner in finished houses though to be fair mate. Keep her happy mate 🍻🍻
Honestly buddy, any track saw is better then no track say but I like the makita saws, also check out peter from 10 minute workshops videos on tracks saws. Let him know in the comments I sent you 😂
Hi Lewis. I want to upgrade my media wall to this beauty. I have suspended ceilings though in my flat (no joists to screw into). Does that top plate bear any load?
Cheers Steve, glad you enjoyed it. I don’t normally discuss money on my channel mate but you can message me on Instagram and I can run through stuff with you
Cheers gareth, mate straps are a must for me now ! Stops my trousers falling down 😂 I use the obvious tools belt mate, there is a video about it on my channel
@LTWCarpentry not gonna lie. Feeling nervous before it starts. One guy suggested building it with MDF and then we can paint it white, and the second guy suggested using Pine so we can wax it after. Not too sure what to do. Any suggestions or hints? Much appreciated.
What a cracking job m8, just wanted to ask if you used a table or track saw to cut the mdf please? I have a table saw and need to chop up some 8x4 sheets but I think that it maybe a little tricky.. thanks pal
Great video! I was just wondering if you need to use Fire proof MDF sheets for this sort of project? I plan to have an electric fire but the type that looks like a log burner
Can I ask what sort of filler you use for the corner joints? Does it never show cracks after a while? Just found your channel, looking forward to watching a lot of the videos thanks Lewis.
What's a rough price for this sort of job was quoted 7k last week and thought that was a bit strong I was thinking more like 50% of that? Good job mate
I would say you are about right mate but does depend on the size of the room and the materials needed! If you are Essex based pop me a message on instagram or my website, always happy to do a quote 👍🍻 cheers for your comment!
cracking job, picked up a few tricks from this! If you use MR or Medite MDF mate you dont need to filler the edges. Also, for the bottoms of your shelves, use modesty blocks so you dont need to clamp and wait for glue to dry! alsoooo, if you use a bit of oak coloured mapei, or wood filler, right on the mitred edges of the shelf front (enough for a bit of squeeze out), it sands down and makes the join completely invisible
Good evening Lewis we'll what a lovely job you have done the oak shelves really stand out pat on the back see you in the next one Also we'll done dad on the painting Simon
Stunning job as always, great video content, did build one myself my only regret is I used plasterboard and first ever attempt of plastering! but the wife is happy so I must be LOL. Take care and keep it up!!!
Cheers Simon, I have done a few in plaster, mine included but I tend to stay away from it in finished houses like this as plastering can be messy, well done if having a go though mate ! And as long as the mrs is happy that’s the main thing lol
What kind of lumber are you using? Looks different than regular 2x4. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm a nuts and bolts guy, not a glue and screws guy lol. But the wife asked for a tv fireplace unit, so I must oblige
Morning buddy thanks for your comment! Would have to complete a quote first to give a rough size, it all depends on the size of the room and the materials needed 👍🍻
End result looks great and great work but that waisted space above the tv would drive me mental when our english houses have such poor storage space. Matching shaker doors above the tv and shaker draws below the fire would still look great while giving extra storage space.
Completely agree buddy but I’m always limited to what my customers request, and they really wanted a clean look for this, thanks for watching and taking time to comment buddy
Another really good video, learned a lot, would like to learn a little bit more😂, what type of fixings did you use to fix the upright battens to the plasterboard other than glue?
Hey mate looks amazing, you have given me the confidence to give this ago in my own house ! Any chance you could send me the link to the fireplace please really struggling to find a good one ?
Nice video mate as always. Always nice when you can mix something you love with family. For me it's with my boy he's 9. He's got a real interest in what I do. Bought him his first drill last christmas.
Hi Mike, that’s awesome mate ! I love building stuff with my little girl, really nice when you get to bond like that isn’t it

Excellent job really tidy work your an inspiration & subscribed. Im looking for a track saw any recommendations?

Great video. I'm pretty sure I saw you in my home town of Halstead today?
You did indeed Chris, where about was I ?
@LTWCarpentry I saw your van on the customers drive I was working up the road, was going to pop by when I finished but you had gone by then.
Hi Lewis. I want to upgrade my media wall to this beauty. I have suspended ceilings though in my flat (no joists to screw into). Does that top plate bear any load?
Hi buddy, no mate it didn’t but it dosnt help to keep everything square, I would use some plasterboard fixings mate
Ah brilliant thanks for the reply pal @@LTWCarpentry
wow brilliant
Thank you 🍻
Great JoB! Glad I stumbled across this channel. What kind of ball park cost would this type of wall be?
Cheers Steve, glad you enjoyed it. I don’t normally discuss money on my channel mate but you can message me on Instagram and I can run through stuff with you
hi lewis
another cracking video mate ,
ive got issues with my makita toolbelt , no straps ,
what make is yours and is it comfortable?
ta mate
Cheers gareth, mate straps are a must for me now ! Stops my trousers falling down 😂 I use the obvious tools belt mate, there is a video about it on my channel
May i know what size of mdf you are using?great job
Hi buddy, it’s 9mm mdf
Thanks bro.
Lewis, can i ask you, the slot above the fire, is it for the fire, a vent maybe ? or for a tv sound bar ?
Hi Robert thanks for your comment buddy! It’s for a sound bar 👍🍻
I'm having a media wall built and have been on Check A Trade. If you were based up North, I'd have booked you with no hesitation.
Thanks buddy I appreciate that ! I’m sure they will do a great job for you mate
@LTWCarpentry not gonna lie. Feeling nervous before it starts. One guy suggested building it with MDF and then we can paint it white, and the second guy suggested using Pine so we can wax it after. Not too sure what to do. Any suggestions or hints? Much appreciated.
@ in this video I used mdf that was painted other then the oak shelves. I find that works well, when you say pine does he mean a t&g or something ?
Please can you tell which plasterboard fixings you used to attach the frame to the wall in the beginning of the video, thanks.
I just used the snail ones buddy, they are fine for this purpose
What a cracking job m8, just wanted to ask if you used a table or track saw to cut the mdf please? I have a table saw and need to chop up some 8x4 sheets but I think that it maybe a little tricky.. thanks pal
Cheers buddy, I used a track saw for this mate, I very really use my table saw on site
Lovely work mate 0:14
Cheers Dave 🍻
Great Video Lewis, What size timber did you use on this job?
Hello mate, I love your channel 👌🏻 Can you make a video on the 12v Dewalt driver? I’m considering buying one and not sure if it’s any good
Hi mate, thank you, yes I can but no a great deal to it really, what is it your not sure about buddy ?
@ Thanks buddy, size and weight smaller enough that you’d justify buying one over using a combi drill?
@ yes deffo mate, it’s a great compact little drill. Obviously not as powerful as a full size drill but packs a punch for a small drill.
@@LTWCarpentry nice one mate 👍
What material is the broad you used? And thickness
Hi mate, it’s mdf and I used 9mm
hi lewis
congratulations for the work, I am Italian and I would like to know what type of wood and dimensions in cm you used to make the structure
Does the telly pull out were was bracket from
Yes it does, it’s was off Amazon amzn.to/42fMgba
How does that little drill get into the block work?
This drill copes with drilling no probs buddy, has a good hammer function on it
Great job lewis . What pin gun where you using on this job ?
Cheers buddy, if you check out the video description there are links to the nails guns buddy
Great video! I was just wondering if you need to use Fire proof MDF sheets for this sort of project? I plan to have an electric fire but the type that looks like a log burner
Hi buddy, this I an electric fire. A log burner wouldn’t work even with fire resistant mdf.
Can I ask what sort of filler you use for the corner joints? Does it never show cracks after a while? Just found your channel, looking forward to watching a lot of the videos thanks Lewis.
Hi buddy, I use a 2 part resin filler! No issues so far! Appreciate your comment! 🍻👍
This looks amazing, only a professional can do this! what brand is the fireplace if I may ask? Also would you do this kind of work in Kent?
Yes I can do this in Kent if you would like.
Looks incredible, im looking into doing something similar in my own home, what size wood do you use for the main frame?
That’s brilliant Graham ! I used 3x2 to build this buddy
Wow, this looks incredible. So professionally executed, and the outcome is genuinely beautiful. Nice one x

Hi could you please tell what are the two nail guns your using in this video.
If you check the description buddy there are the nail guns linked there 🍻
cracking job, picked up a few tricks from this! If you use MR or Medite MDF mate you dont need to filler the edges. Mate I will deffo be using modesty blocks in the future ! Why have I never thought of that !
What tool belt is that mate?
Hi Ritchie, it’s the obvious tool company belt, I’ve done a video of it too it’s on my channel 👍🍻
Good evening Lewis we'll what a lovely job you have done the oak shelves really stand out pat on the back see you in the next one

Hey, looks great, can I ask where the fireplace is from? Xx
Hi, thanks for the comment, the fire is off Amazon
@ I don’t suppose you have a link for it? X
What size are the timbers?
Hiya buddy they where 3 x 2 for the framework and 2 x 1 for the shelves 👍
Was that raw plugs you put in to wall before screwing in very 1st bit of wood at the start of video?
No it’s plasterboard fixings
I would like to make these same floating shelves, if you could please tell me the thickness of the oak veneer cheers👍
No problem, it’s a 9mm oak vaneered mdf
You made this look so easy! Beautiful job!
Thank you! Cheers!
My toxic trait is watching this and thinking, 'Yeah, I could totally do that, no sweat.' 😂 Amazing work-it looks incredible!
Cheers Ash! We all start somewhere buddy you would be surprised! I’ve made many expensive mistakes along the way too 😂🍻👍
What did you use on the front of the mdf to look like oak?
It’s oak faced mdf
Very kool

Cracking job Lewis, looks the nuts mate👊
Nice one Hoggy !
I want to use plywood instead of mdf..I think its just better material..how come you use mdf?Is it more cost effective or other reasons?Nice job
Mdf is more cost effective but it also leave a much better surface finish for decoration, cheaper ply woods have voids and tend to delaminate.
@@LTWCarpentry okay,understand that.Thank you for your time

Another really good video, learned a lot, would like to learn a little bit more😂, what type of fixings did you use to fix the upright battens to the plasterboard other than glue?

How do you get to the plug sockets if there's ever a problem?
Teleportation.
Simple removal of everything installed then put it back again, how else 😅
You don't. Simply
You didn't show it at the end, how come?🤬🤬
I was thinking the same thing
