did something similar, except that i lived with my parents.
luckily managed to get my apartment for super cheap, and then put every bit of my savings into the renovations and furniture, it got to the point, where i had to skip a few months before moving in, so i could buy everything i needed and after buying the last thing (tv), i was left with 700 euros for two weeks, before i got another paycheck :)
glad to see someone who isnt filthy rich doing renovations, hope ur happy with what you got out of it

Wow! London. I worked in London and lived in Hampstead Heath during 1962. It snowed in London and it looked like a classic Christmas movie or Christmas card. I could have lived there forever, but my husband, at the time, who was English (and the reason I was able to work in England), didn't want to. He preferred California, USA. I really appreciate how you walked us through the whole renovation. I’m in interior designer who not only works for clients but also buys renovates and sells his own properties. I’ve never done a project to this extent before but I have done major hundred thousand dollar plus projects that I move into and then sell a year or two later. It’s been a very successful venture for me over the 35 years that I’ve been doing it. I can understand that doing a project In an expensive location has its downfalls, but the upside is this there’s loads of buyers when you’re ready to sell.
Fortunately, in Canada, when it is your primary residence, and then you sell, There is no capital gains tax, a real bonus financially.
You are so knowledgable about all the aspects of construction and where to spend money and where you can save money is really critical and having a successful project and you obviously are doing everything right. This was because we too did not have space for a skip.

You have a good narration to go with the constructed progress. I like that extra effort which ties everything together for the viewer. As we're not all into construction, it significantly enhances the video rather than just a time lapase of the work progress. It's learning and entertainment at the same time.

    Hello from America!
I just found your refreshingly unfiltered channel.
Truly inspiring… for people like you with a high level of construction/contracting knowledge & skills.
    Congratulations!
In America, I am beyond excited to see the promotion of developing skills which seem to have been eliminated from our society. (Bricklayers, master carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc.)
There is a huge need and sense of independence learning a trade which you can provide a successful career for a lifetime.

Great narrative and video. Real professional and relatable. I would like to have seen a glimpse of your sleeping quarters. I can’t imagine moving a bed from floor to floor or having a finished bathroom before demolishing the existing one. I lived through a kitchen renovation while I continued to live on my second floor. Dust finds its way no matter how much you think you’ve hermetically sealed your living space. Not only is it filthy, it’s nerve racking waking up to a demolished home day after day. My hat’s off to you my friend.

Very cool this renovation. A few years ago, I bought a 120 old appartment. Your wooden heringbone floor looks exactly (colour+ size) as the floor I picked for the renovation. It is besides the wooden wall panelings the two things I like the most in my appartment.

Respect to you sir! I've done this myself and it is a hard, difficult and dirty process - the difference I had was my wife and new born were living in the mess during the renovation...but we made it and you're absolutley right that it massively increases your equity and gives you that leg up financially. It'll make you or break you!

Totally understand your point of view. Done the same some years ago. People asking : who did the digging for the foundation, machine, ironwork, concrete pouring? Me my shovel, me, me and my mixer....😂. And my wife supporting and cheer me up. We both touched every stone used at least 4 times. And yes, some things are not 100%, but I know exactly why. So, well done.

Would love to know, 1) Would you allow the 'miserable' neighbors to see what you've done and show them what they DON'T have? (Or is that rude? LOL), 2) Compared to the other 'posh' houses in your neighborhood, how much would your home appraise for now? Especially with the added bdrms & baths. Thanks for telling us the HONEST truth of the good & bad, and when to hire or do it yourself. Stunning outcome. Beautiful!

Don’t they realize that their house instantly looks better because of your improvements? Enjoy the fruits of your labor and keep up the good work. An expat in Florida. IDT you could pay me to live in London again, maybe the suburbs.

Well done on the result 👍🏻

    • @TheNomadicTrader
      @TheNomadicTrader 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@isabella6075 it's going really well, thank you. It's consumed my life though I must admit. I'm moving in at the end of the month to finish things off. The plastering has taken the most time.
When I do another project, I'll definitely be better at completing tasks in order. I've been working too much on finishing the kitchen and bathroom when there's been lots of messy work still outstanding. On the next project I'll do all of the plastering then move onto the next stages, such as prepping for decorating and installing the kitchen and bathroom.

Things could have been very different. Unfortunately we didn’t have the necessary savvy and didn’t continue being more informed. So anyone starting out should watch and learn and apply. I believe you really can set yourself up for life, but take time to learn before applying. 👍🏻👍🏻

I’m not sure how you ended up on my feed, but I am so happy that you did. I hope that you, and the friends who helped you, are incredibly proud of what you accomplished. The house is absolutely stunning! As for the kitchen floors, it’s the first thing I noticed and they are beautiful (and incredibly expensive to have installed). I would love to know how much you get if/when you sell it. I’m sure the horrid neighbors next door will appreciate how much the work you did also increases their property value. Though they may not like that your house is nicer than theirs.
