@@SkyDeep no problem!! Keep hustling! I subscribed and hope to see more videos in general on the music making process!! I thought my Mpc was a waste of money but slowly seeing it is useable in my studio
I officially love you ❤❤❤…..I’ve been trying to hook up my Roland Fantom running Ableton with my recently purchased Live 2. Been at it for days, watching loads of TH-cam vids. And finally, all explained. It was enabling Ableton in sync receive that had eluded me. Thanks so much xxxx
Great job! I have been struggling with making this work through USB, but using MIDI makes a lot of sense. I appreciate your clarity and to-the-point style as well!
Just found your channel while searching for mpc tutorials. You seem super cool! Also very clear and slow speech which is very helpful. Subscribed! Excited to see your video game!
Thank you Sky, running Ableton and just about to make the leap to mpc, doin the which 'Live / One' choice thing! Think I'll go for an MK1 Live.... Truly grateful for your cool, calm n' superpositive vibez, awesome thank you!🙏🌞
Thus the name MPC midi production center. I believe today we have gotten so used to usb and threw away midi. I will try to see the difference between the Live2 and the Force work flow with midi. You have a new subscriber. This helped me out a lot thanks. @Sky Deep.
I knew my MPC live could do "something" with Ableton Live, but never realised it went this deep, Sky (see what I did there?) har har. Thanks so much for this video! ;-)
I had no idea that you could jump back to the main window and enter notes while ableton is recording. Great tutorial. although ableton recording is a bit clunky, that tip at least makes it usable
Hi auntie how you do eh. Kah I barra your beat machine dis weekenn ama mek me sum beets. Please? Ah bring it back on Monday dang. 😉 You teach with the warmth of a favorite aunt. Quite rare!
I couldn't get the midi part to work for me. I am using Logilink Midi to USB cable do you know how if the settings would be different for this? anyway, amazing tutorials with easy-to-follow instructions. Subscribed.
I'm using a cheap ethernet adapter on the Live Mk1 connected to the computer and it works amazing. I use "Remote Midi" as I don't have a midi interface and it sends midi via ethernet to Ableton, both from the MPC pads and the midi keyboard plugged into it. I did not yet tested if I can also use the MPC as an audio interface at the same time, but apparently not, I would have to turn on MPC in controller mode :/
love your video and dynamics! just wondering, is there a way to record audio using the MPC Live 2 as an audio input on ableton? Or maybe a way to record MIDI/Audio on standalone mode and throw it on my live project. it feels like tho i can open my Live scene on control mode and still play on main, they dont REALLY integrate.
And if you connected via usb de akai mic one to you Mac computer works? or you have to connect via MIDI cable the Akai and your interface? Also I wanted to know if it works without wifi connection cause I have the Mac ONE and no possible to connected all the time to the router. THANK U
Hi Sky Deep . I would like to know can i choose any brand midi interface? Also do the ethernet cable run from the mpc to laptop or form the interface to laptop?
Hi. Any midi interface should be good for this concept. About the ethernet: if you have MPC One then you can connect it direct to your computer I think. I will run some tests in the studio today to double check. I have the Live but can try it out with my USB to ethernet adapter. But otherwise, here my other video of another possibility by using a small portable wifi device. th-cam.com/video/Y5tK3_dsIA8/w-d-xo.html
Very dope video maybe i should try this ableton thing out. Logic is my go to but bc of this feature for my mpc one...may need to check it out. I have the force also i think this works the same there if im not mistaken. Keep banging ma i enjoy what u do.
Hey Ronald. Thanks for watching and the kind words. I also work with logic but ableton has me covered so well with the music and my various devices. I mostly use Logic when I'm doing post audio for films. Ableton is totally worth it, especially if you get to use it with your MPC workflow.
Hi Sky Nice to see your video its so helpful Thank you for it. I want to know How we can load our sample in to the MPC live ? I did but problem is Its not running as a loop its just run one time so i am so confused how to fix this could you please advise me in this ?
Hey I forget I got one question. Is it possible to send midi or at least audio from my mpc internal synths like hype, in standalone, straight into ableton to make the arrangement over there? Would be appreciating some advice. Cheers
Hi Sky. Thanks for this video. I have a mpc live 2 and use the remote connection to Ableton. It keeps randomly disconnecting. I have to reboot the mpc and then it works ok again until it disconnects again. I also have midi keyboard plugged directly into usb. If anyone has any idea what this, please let me know. Thanks.
Thank you for this very helpful video! I do have a question though and I'm confused about 1 thing: Could I hook all my hardware synths and mpc live up to a usb hub that goes to my computer and do this the same way? For instance, I'd like to decide if I'm going to sequence my hardware synths and record midi into Ableton or my MPC without changing setups.
Hi! My pleasure! To answer your question: if you choose to sequence your hardware synths with the MPC Live via USB connector, then your hub must be connected directly to the MPC as the host. Then, using the same technique in this video, you can record your sequences there first and then transfer those sequences into Ableton Live by real-time recording the midi tracks. You just have to make sure there's no latency issues so your intended timing remains how it should sound. If you arm Ableton for recording, then whichever midi is coming from the MPC will be sent over.
@@SkyDeep Thank you! I think I'll do it your way and have the usb hub connected to Ableton, but then try to connect the midi din ins and outs from mpc to my audio interface. Heres hoping I don't get feedback loops!
same. my mpc one wont even allow my firmware to update! when i go to my menu i have no "live control" option, and standalone mode in ableton is total trash and useless. i'm giving this another month, and if i can't get this to work with ableton, i'm selling it. rather just get a Push 2 or something. fuck it.
Hi! @Ava R That sounds very strange! Sorry that's happening for you. Perhaps you might need to update to the next one, 2.9.1. I'm sure firmware 2.7 was the first time this function became available but it may have had some bugs that Akai needed to work out.
@baconhanger Have you tried getting in touch with Akai support about it? I hope someone can support you more directly. Sounds like a frustrating issue. Perhaps you might need to do a hard reset back to factory default settings and then approach the firmware update again? How's is been going the past few days?
Hi. Sorry for the late answer! I find it VERY useful when I want to combine my standalone elements with other functions from the DAW. Sometimes it helps to combine workflows. Also, Sometimes I use Live as an additional sound module. I prefer to make my transition elements in Live. I've never really used Push 2 but my studio mate has one. Maybe I'll ask to try it out.
Hi! I'm not so sure because the MPC touch requires a USB connection and computer to be used anyways. I believe it's just a controller. Since I've never owned a Touch, I can't really test it out to properly answer your question.
You can use the usb out of the mpc to send midi. The ableton link control features require a network connection using an either net cable or wifi on an mpc that has it.
good! i can't stand the mpc software and all the other videos shows how to use mpc software as a host and run ableton inside of it as a plugin. fuuuuuuuck that noise
You are definitely NOT dumb. I found out that Akai changed the software drivers but didn't tell everyone. Mine stopped working after one of the firmware updates.... it took another half year before i learned of the new driver. Cideo coming soon after i testvagain with the new recent updates
