Just tried this for the first. I honestly didn’t think it would work cuz my controller is only a month old. This idea has never crossed my mind and I really want to thank you for sharing this video to me and everyone else who has problems with their scuf. I rarely subscribe to people on TH-cam but I felt like it was the best way for me to show you how thankful I am. Keep up the good work:)
I rarely comment on TH-cam, but i just have to here and say thank you so much for this fix. I bought a Scuf nearly a year ago and have had this issue for months, having to press it really hard to only sometimes work. I've always had the stupid rubber flake off and go all over my controller, even replaced my sticks twice but never thought this was the cause of my paddle not working. Thank you so much for this fix. Absolute LEGEND
There's metal button-like dome washer which makes the clicking sound that might have cracked and may need to be replaced, it what makes contact with the circuit board to send a signal that the button was pressed.
HOLEE IT WORKED! My right paddle, my edit button(Fortnut) and dash button(CoD fish), stopped working. I didn't know what to do, and so I contacted SCUF. They said they would repair it for me, but for a hefty price. I decided, forget it, I spent 200-250 on the controller itself and the extra analog sticks, so I'll fix it myself. What I did was take a cutip and use it on the button behind the paddle it self. It kinda worked, but wasn't 100 percent reliable. I kept searching for remedies for this problem, and eventually found ur channel. I tried it out, and BAM! For about 2 months, no problems yet. It's the only problem I have had with my scuf, and I thank you very much for this working solution!
At first I thought it was the paddle itself then when I realized it wasn't I tried this video and didn't think it would work however to my surprise it did. It was kind of ridiculous using a vacuum cleaner on a controller but it got the job done. Thank you.
It worked. I'm going to use dielectric grease next time instead of alcohol. We can pick up at any auto parts store. I also added a small amount of grease to the cones top of the joysticks to help keep dirt from getting in, plus they move way smoother. Thank you.
DO NOT USE A VACUUM- the problem with the paddles is a small piece of metal that has shifted inside the controller. These tiny pieces are about 1mm x1mm and could easily be vacuumed up without you noticing at which point the paddles are useless
bro, i don't know how i should thank you. omg you helped meeee sooooo much you're the best man in my life omg i'm realizing it now that my scuf is working again
@@OmieSaiyan probably a few seconds on each opening but it only lasted a little while before i had the issue again...gonna have to take it apart imo....not looking forward to it.
Zachs Infinite yea i figured. I knew there was like a metal thing that allowed the button to click like that. Idk how I messed it up but man scufs apparently taking forever rn
@@OmieSaiyan i bought a tool kit from iFixIt, opened it up, cleaned the metal square and the contacts and its working now. just took me a second to actually get it apart and put all back together, but confirmed everything works properly now
Zachs Infinite toolkit from ifixit? That’s interesting but the funny thing is that scuf literally melted one of the screws on the back of the controller 😂 I think I’m just gonna buy a new controller though
I will try it when I get time and will let you know what happens, my button is responsive but not every time. Like you said I have to press it harder if I want to ensure that it works.
You know what bro I really appreciate it alot this actually worked And i was over here trying to fix it almost breaking it but this video is so helpful brother I appreciate it once again
there if a little metal plate inside between the little button and the actual chip of the controller which act like a retract (click-click) they have broke on me before , the way I fixed it is I opened it (voids warrantee) but the warrantee is garbage if you ask me > anyway I flipped the metal piece around and it worked , but that piece was cracked so it lasted a lil longer before it just broke for good … it still works and seems the button is stuck but its just the retract plate brokenand it works but feels weird , hope this helps
Hey Idk if you’re gonna see this a year later but I just got my scuf 3 days ago and the left jump paddle stopped working I tried what you said but it’s like the button under the paddle is pushed in :/
Thank you for this, imagine a company in 2019 charging extortionate fees for them to repair their own faulty products that they fucking sell. I've owned 2 scufs thisbyear and all had the same problems
This didn't work for me. Someone on reddit said that taking it apart and cleaning it from the inside will work for a long time, whereas just using alcohol on the outside is only a temporary fix and won't work for some people. I have 2 broken scufs now, one with this paddle issue and one with stick drift, and both of them have a loose R2 trigger (it doesn't spring back up all the way). I've sent them in for repair once or twice but it takes a month to get the controller back, its expensive, and they keep fucking breaking. So for that reason I am just voiding the warranty and going to learn how to fix it myself. Hopefully cleaning it from the inside will work.
@@sethbyck2987 Yeah I do, however, the fix the video suggests only worked for 20 minutes. I've just sent off my 4PS to be fixed by Scuf, they said it can cost around £5 per paddle when I phoned them.
anyone else had a problem where the paddles are activated when not pressed? i’m in a game and randomly my X button ( left paddle ) keeps spazzing out and jumping??

nice used my scuf for 10 minutes just got it today and paddles already not working, btw I am the only one who cant adjust to the paddles? My hand starts to hurt, maybe because I used a normal controller since 7 years now?

it didnt work for me but i found a fix my controller litterally feels new as soon as i press the button it works perfectly and i am very surprised because i had to push it REEAALLY hard to register i took the paddles off and pressed the button with a cotton swab and put WD-40 on it and pressed it like 10-20 times each side
Giovanni P. I got mine to work I just took off the paddles and there should be a hole in the side where the paddle was and just blow into it and that’s what worked for me

Just the controller man I have an impact and one of these they are notorious for this.
The reason for yours likely not working is the metal dome washer has likely collapsed, there's a few videos out there, but this involves soldering
A tip: you can watch series at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
