Wow! Kenny Vaughn channels Grady Martin (the Nashville studio great) and plays one of the greatest lead guitar parts ever recorded! Nobody else but Marty and the Superlatives could do that classic song justice.
Kenny does a pretty good job on the Grady Martin part. I have been screwing around with the guitar part myself for a little while. It's not easy. I have the intro but it's all the other stuff throughout the song that is pretty fantastic. Listen to the harmonics at 6:45 or so.
my kid loves Johnny Cash.. me too and she's a big fan of Marty Robbins.. she taught me to love him too but Marty Stewart was her favorite singer when she was a pup... this brings everything full circle for us
Marty Stuart and The Fabulous Superlatives...probably the only band around today who could do this great song justice live. GREAT acoustic guitar work...WOW!
One of my favorite bands, my wife and I have saw Marty and his band twice @ the Bijou Theater in Knoxville,Tn. We also attended his Late Night Jam @ the Ryman in Nashville several times, just a great band and great musicians. I hope he plays again @ the Bijou soon, we will be there, also we love staying in the Smoky Mts.
Flawless. In every way. I think I’m going to watch this 4 or 5 more times. At least. (And an extra big hand of applause for Kenny Vaughn who nailed all the gorgeous noodling guitar fills and flourishes.)
You're welcome Paul! I have to admit that I was lucky. Who would know that they'd tell a great story about the water tower, followed by a flawless rendition of 'El Paso'!
I saw them perform this classic twice in 2022. Once in Franklin NC and once at the Newberry SC Opera House. They nailed each time. I would recommend both venues..
I totally agree.. I have a thing for Kenny and his playing. I saw him interviewed by Zach Childs and I wanted to hang with the guy just to talk to him. If he doesn't have a grammy, he needs one or ten.
That section starting at 3:07 through 3:18 gave me goosebumps at how good it was. Fabulous and Superlative, while accurate, is an understatement with these guys. So good.
@@kreagsmusicvideos In reruns still, I imagine, on RFDtv. I recorded many, so I can't be sure it's still on. Same group now, except with bass player Apostle Paul Martin replaced by an equally well-known musician, Chris Scruggs.
@@kreagsmusicvideos p.s. Every show was fabulous, great set, great guests. I'll never forget "Runnin' Down a Dream," their incredible take on the Tom Petty number.
I saw diamond Rio do a three part vocal harmony of Elpaso back in the 90’s This is so polished it’s Road Hot I believe is the term they use in Nashville
Grady Martin provided awesome riffs. But Jack Pruett played that beautiful melodic guitar sound to Marty's songs. Jack was there from beginning till the very end. People focus on Grady Martin, but Jack was the rock that made the band sound so great.
Yes, MARTY ROBBINS WOULD BE PROUD !! BEAUTIFUL MARTY , GREAT JOB SUPERLATIVES !!❤
Marty Robbins would be proud.
He is looking down and has a big grin .

I think Kenny transcends fancy playing and is so authentic it is amazing to watch. He is one of the very best.
@@sirwinston2368 a "pretty good job?" C'mon man ....
You are so right!! No one comes close! I’m be first class act!!!
@@sirwinston2368 Thank you for mentioning the harmonics and “when” to look for them. Ty!
I've been to three or four of Marty and his Super boys performances over the years. I used to love their RFDTV Television Program each week too.
I was really impressed with the show, and would go see them again in a heart beat!

Of course I had no idea what was coming when I decided to record this. And wow, a great story, followed by a flawless performance of 'El Paso'!
COUSIN KENNY!!!!!! WOW!! Love this. These men are amazing musicians, singers, and showmen. Flawless!
Marty Stuart and The Fabulous Superlatives...probably the only band around today who could do this great song justice live. GREAT acoustic guitar work...WOW!
"El Paso" a great song that does not repeat a verse
Marty wrote a perfect song and played it perfectly. With amazing musicians.
This cover? Perfect. Bravo.

So true. Of course, I had no idea what was coming when I started to record it. Amazing!
The original guitarist was Grady Martin on the Marty Robbins recording..
That was a wonderful performance of El Paso! Marty is so talented, since a young boy! God bless, Charles
About as true to the record as you can get, complete with all those incredible Grady Martin licks and fabulous harmonies.
It just doesn’t get much better than that! 👍 👏🏻❤️
And as far as Johnny Cash is concerned, when ya gotta go ya gotta go, and go and go and go......😂
Wow. This is incredible. Thank you Mary and boys. Great performance. Love this tune. Brings back many childhood memories. Made me tear up.
Best told story set to music ever. Thanks Marty.
saw them do this live on 2 different occasions.... absolutely perfect...Great musicians!

These fellows did a great job with this old classic
Last night, Marty and His Fabulous Superlatives played El Paso in Corsicana, Tx
Fantastic rendition of "El Paso!" Thanks for making the effort (and I imagine singing that song does require some effort!!) I sure miss Marty Robbins!
I agree. This is a fantastic rendition. I had no idea what was coming when I started to record!

Grady Martin just smiled.
Hottest band out there~Superlatives indeed!! I wanna gush about Kenny's guitar playing, but they are all incredibly accomplished musicians!!
These guys were awesome! I keep checking their tour dates, so I can see them again.
