I absolutely love this version. The talent of each musician is amazing, put them all together and it's mind blowing. Marty is also the accepted king of the B bender. Excellent people.
Well damn. I'm well aware of how good Marty and the Superlatives are but I never thought Runnin' Down a Dream would ever sound as good as Tom's rocking version, but this is damn near on equal terms in my opinion. Amazing job
I heard them back in October while they were on the Sweetheart of the Rodeo tour with Chris Hillman and Roger McGuinn. They did this number and brought the house down!
great cover but also amazing rendition of theirs, they always nail it of course in all other venues/videos i've seen, but this particular gig spawned a terrific outro
Tom Petty was from Gainesville FL; Mike Campbell is from Jacksonville FL ... Lots of talent came out of that area of Florida. Marty smokes that mandolino, don't E?

seems when artist cover a Tom petty song, they put a little EXTRA in it. Cha out George strait's cover of T.P.' you wreak me or Del McCurry bands cover of Love is a long hard road.
heard them play this as the encore at the sweetheart of the rodeo concert at the akron civic theatre. only word i can think of hearing it live is jawdropping, particularly marty's mandolin break.
This comment is more cringe worthy than you'll understand... Tom Petty was a big country music fan. He recorded with Johnny Cash. If you think for one second he wouldn't love this, you're a total idiot.
Damn! Them boys is good…
Jeez that drummers harmony singing is absolutely incredible
Harry Stinson’s harmonies are 🔥
I could hear this forever playing in my head. And be happy forever.
1 OF THE BEST COVERS OF ANY SONG OF ANY STYLE
Somewhere Tom Petty has a big smile on his face!
Damn! That’s how you do it!
Awesome band, great cover of Petty song. Marty's mastery of the mandolin is amazing.
Shredding that Mandolin! Beautiful thing.
Marty, and Mike Compton are masters of the Mandolin 😊
Superlative cover!!!! Man these guys always put the country in western, the blue in grasss and the rock in the roll. Fantastic.
Ole Marty Stewart is the greatest & too bad he doesn't have a weekly show broadcast all over the country.
I absolutely love this version. The talent of each musician is amazing, put them all together and it's mind blowing. Marty is also the accepted king of the B bender. Excellent people.
That is real music, that is playing from the heart,
Well damn. I'm well aware of how good Marty and the Superlatives are but I never thought Runnin' Down a Dream would ever sound as good as Tom's rocking version, but this is damn near on equal terms in my opinion. Amazing job
@Marty's 4x4 it;s okay, don't feel bad, not everyone has good taste. now stfu.
They nailed it here!!
After Marty is well dead. He will still win
I heard them back in October while they were on the Sweetheart of the Rodeo tour with Chris Hillman and Roger McGuinn. They did this number and brought the house down!
lucky you
Boy, Marty really killed it on that mandolin.
Didn’t that Star Wars movie just come out this year the Mandolin?🤥
Like Johnny Cash, Marty can make any song sound like it's his.
The harmonies and the magnificent skills, Marty and the boys are majestic 👏🔥
I couldn't ever imagine of something like that, matching Mike Campbell's guitar playing! Awesome!
Gawd, but I love this...... Perfect Marty Stewart..... Perfect Tom Petty.....
Now that is perfection. Marty and the fellows do it right! And what pickin'. One of my favorites!
Superlative! I love "Petty and the Heartbreaker Boys."
World class professional and a stoned cold super cool presence
Marty that was simply amazing and the mandolin playing so good there are no words!!!
Marty I LUV YA man but it's not as good as TP.
Such an important song for our time. Beautiful.
Marty is a trip! Really an amazing cover. You could tell they loved every minute playing one of Tom's best songs.
Great cover with the mandolin coupled with the Superlatives, FANTASTIC!!
Most badass cover ever.
Tom loved classic country, and, that would be Marty Stuart.
I was a touch skeptical about this particular song working in bluegrass, but I absolutely love the arrangement.
great cover but also amazing rendition of theirs, they always nail it of course in all other venues/videos i've seen, but this particular gig spawned a terrific outro
I'm a Tom Petty fan, seen I'm twice. I hope he knew Marty's cover, he nailed it. RIP Tom
Superb cover of a fantastic song!
Very nice. Not many artists can pull off a Tom Petty cover that sounds good. I also love how it looks like this was filmed inside a Cracker Barrel.
Any legit source to get the download of this song? Loved Tom’s music and his spirit lives on thru Marty.
OMG, an excellent rendition!!
A real band, the best
Thanks for posting this. A great TPATH cover.
Austin Powers International Man of Mystery on Acoustic Guitar and really big cowboy hat.
tears in my eyes
Magic !!!!
Great song 💜🖤
Tom Petty was from Gainesville FL; Mike Campbell is from Jacksonville FL ... Lots of talent came out of that area of Florida. Marty smokes that mandolino, don't E?

That echo on Driving & Flying. Was too tough
Brillant.
Great, i love it
Bravo Marty and the boys
Good job Marty . R I p Tom.
This a plane and simple case of the cover being as creative as the original, probably better.
Wonderful! 💕

So good!
Hadn't heard Marty before, but this is brilliant. Great sound.
wasn't he in "Back to the Future?"
Wow I love it
Fantastic cover. Meanwhile, George Straight singing "You Wreck Me" is shit on a stick.
Marty has Magic Fingers!
We love Petty and the Hearbreakers.
So bad ass!
Didn't know marty was such an accomplishes musician.
My favorite by Tom, just don't do him justice
Marty generally doesn't spotlight his own playing that much, which is cool. But when he does, you're reminded why it's his name on the marquee.
seems when artist cover a Tom petty song, they put a little EXTRA in it. Cha out George strait's cover of T.P.' you wreak me or Del McCurry bands cover of Love is a long hard road.
Petty damn good
better than the original
heard them play this as the encore at the sweetheart of the rodeo concert at the akron civic theatre. only word i can think of hearing it live is jawdropping, particularly marty's mandolin break.
YEEEEEEH!!!
Eventually, all music is Country.
Marty you are a Super picker MANADOLIN OR GUITAR!! THANKS!!
The description says this was posted ten years ago but this is obviously A.I. 🤔

No one beats the silver fox
Is there a backing track? Is all that sound coming from 4 instruments?
Only one mic for vocals?
You'd be surprised at how much sound so few instruments can put out.
Marty loved Tom Petty. He is a true American country treasure. I totally dislike formula bro country.
Tom Petty on a country music show? WTF? Don't give me any of that heartland music crap!
When did Steve Bannon start playing in a band?
kick A.
Johnny cash tried to sing no avail.
This is a damn good band, but this song choice--countrified--is cringe worthy.
