I promoted a concert series in Nashville many years ago to raise money for Alzheimer’s disease and Marty Stuart performed. The man is a true gentleman and talent. A country music god.
Marty has been around quite awhile. He and The Superlatives are phenomenal. As popular as they are, I believe Marty has never received all the accolades he truly deserves. Keep going, Marty. Love your music!
Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives are legends, each and every one of them. No pedals, no effects, and I bet Harry has never played to a click track. Just pure golden talent.
Kenny used a delay... to great effect.... They do use effects pedals live, but they are always on, making it look like they don't use effects. I do the same when I play... always on, no pedal dancing for this boy ... I want to be Marty someday when I'm older and more mature.
Country, bluegrass and blues blended with 60's psychedelic pop and rock. Thats Marty Stuart. The band can go anywhere Marty wants to take them. They are master musicians.
Marty Stuart is so special. He is a treasure and he sounds amazing. The Fabulous Superlatives are extremely special as well ! Thank you for sharing your talents and special gifts with us! This is professionalism and class at its best! What talents!! Great video! Wow!!!
The BEST yet on Tiny Desk! And that's sayin something! The Fabulous Superlatives only get better. Stuart is some kind of empirical Genius and every molecule in every one of those guys is MUSIC!!!!!🎵🎵🎵🎵
Hearing Tempted always takes me back to 1991-92 when I was 14 and blown away by Marty Stuart’s album of the same name. Great to see these guys still making music and putting smiles on faces.
Hey! The World’s Greatest Country Band! Maybe best all around Band! Go see them live! Thanks Marty for all you do and have done for Country Music!.. Superstars!
The very best American traditional/Bluegrass/Country/Rock and Roll/ band out there. Adding Chris Scruggs to an ALREADY immensely talented lineup of Marty, Kenny, and Harry takes it into hypersonic space. Guys, also thanks for making me love the Byrds even more. You guys are a treasure.
Saw them last August. One of the best shows I've seen in 50 years of concert-going. Real musicianship and showmanship. Voluminous knowledge of country music history.
I drove 2 hours to see this band during one of the first concerts they played after Covid shut everyone down. So glad they came to NY State - my neck of the woods. I stayed the night in a hotel being renovated not too far from the venue. Very appreciative crowd! For me, their music was as a balm to my musically shriveled soul. I loved every second of the show. Thank you guys! No autographs of course, but their instrument tech let me take some pics of Marty’s mandolin and guitar, also Chris Scrugg’s microphone set up. I was curious about that, because his tone was so gorgeous. Harry S took a selfie with me using my phone. Ty, Harry!
Marty is genuine, the music great. He is superb on guitar, mandolin and he still surrounds himself with brilliant musicians and plays support rhythm having a great time too and no ego. Much respect for him.
These guys are the gold standard for acoustic / electric musicians. Their last two albums "Way Out West" and "Altitude" are magnificent and showcase their talents well.
Chris Scruggs is excellent too. These 4 brilliant & talented men make the best of one another. I've been playing & performing ( guitar: acoustic & electric, lead vocals & harmonies, blues harp ) nearly all of my life. I'm 100% self-taught. Started playing harmonica & singing when I was only 6 years old. Started singing & playing guitar by age 13. I performed all over east/central Florida for decades in various groups, as well as acoustic duos & solo acoustuic act. I'm now 63 yrs old and I still perform by myself. With all of this being said, I am convinced that Marty Stuart & the Fabulous Superlatives are the tightest & greatest band on earth today, without question........and they pull it all off with a bare minimum of gear. THAT is truly special.
What a smokin' hot band. Though I am not a fan of country music per se, I am a huge fan of great music, and this band is one of the best on the planet. Can't wait to see them live in July!
So I can't stand what's on country radio but love good music, saw these guys live locally and they blew the roof off the place. Just goes to show that people are starved for good music - playing, singing, etc. I have no problem with technology in music, but this is so refreshing and it deserves a place at the music table.
You guys are awesome!!! The cream of the music crop. I enjoy everything you do. Mastery of your instrument, vocals and vocal harmony - you all rock. All us musicians look up to you.
I’ve listened to Marty my whole life, watched his show, seen all the footage of him and Tritt, but nothing compares to these. Astounding to say the lest

Incredible talented beatifull persons. That was amazing gig! I´m crying for happines and joy with this great performance. God bless you all, you are the way blessing future. And lots of thanks to Tiny Desk for possibility to hear and see great artists all over world! Regards Riku from Finland.
As a musician I have been a heavy Rock and roller my whole life, I want to hear 60 years old something changed in my ears have gravitated to this kind of clean music.
I did not know until recently that, when he was 12 or so, he saw Connie Smith in concert. He thought she was so incredibly beautiful, that he rizzed her up as best he could, despite a 17 year age gap, and told his mom that he would marry her some day. At 39 years old, he did. Between that and playing for both Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash by the time he was 21, you gotta admire Marty's determination to execute on some truly grand visions for his life. Much respect.
@@vayabroder729 Connie Smith (who just released a new album backed by Marty and the Fabulous Superlatives) turns 83 this year (2024), as does Bob Dylan.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Tiny Desk concert. I watched every episode of The Marty Stuart Show and I would love to see Country legends Tanya Tucker and Vince Gill on future episodes of Tiny Desk.
Caught them playing in Interlochen mi,they were with Steve Miller, which was good but Marty and his superlatives were great,my 30 year old son walked away a bluegrass/Marty Stuart fan that day..and understood why I absolutely love Marty and his superlatives..one of the best..
I'm a rocker through and through, I'm not too fond of country music. But I Love Marty Stuart and his Superlatives. The level of musicianship and the lack of gimmicks have always attracted me to this band. These are all great musicians in their own right. I never miss an opportunity to see this band.
No clothing can ever be a musical gimmick, don’t be ridiculous. Just close your eyes and listen. In these guys’ case, they dress up out of respect for their audience, the traditions of country music, and the music itself. They’re completely relaxed but they’re the complete opposite of casual. And you’ve got Marty dead wrong, sorry.

Generally speaking, I am only marginally a fan of Country or Bluegrass music. But I have to say that Marty and his group gave such a tight, clean, sound with simplistic but wonderful arrangements, and I truly loved this performance. Thank you tiny desk once again!
Thanks to my son Max for pointing me to this video. Thanks to LaVelle Hunt and his crew for bringing Marty, Kenny, Chris and Harry to our historic Lincoln theater in Decatur IL. We just saw them a few weeks ago as well as the year prior. As others state, Seeing these guys play live is an amazing delight. Country music ROYALTY! All 4 of them. They have it all. Mad skills, good humor, deep well of musical knowledge.
They're THE best of everything music, art, spiritually, goodness has to offer today.
Four men who have completed their mastery of music and are now effortlessly delivering the goods...every time.
Well said.

Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives are legends, each and every one of them. No pedals, no effects, and I bet Harry has never played to a click track. Just pure golden talent.
Some effects on Kenny's guitar ... but I'm with you. Amazing group. I had no idea how good they harmonize.
I don’t care if they use pedals. I care how their music sounds.
