Can I ask what year you attended boot camp? I think I want to join to become tough, but I don't want it to be like what half the Internet is saying "That the standards have dropped and it's too woke".
@@WormSandlejoining to be tough is not the right reason to join first of all. You need a job in the military what is it? Why do you want that job and what will it do for you. Look at the lifestyles in different branches is it what you want. You want something laid back like the AF or something hard like the Marine Corps.
@@TheGoatGrunts Thank you man, yeah I actually wanted to be a 4571 (combat videographer) because I love filming history. And there are other reasons, but that is the main reason I wanna join to be mentally stronger. Thank you for answering I needed this. I think I'll stick to the Corps.
@@WormSandle Mentally stronger there ya go. That’s the answer. Being a Marine is the most honorable yes, but talk to another branch maybe the Navy. See what they have to offer. Want a sign on bonus? The Corps won’t be the right option, but the Corps will change you completely for the better.

Wow this brings me back! I see they even brought the old Vietnam-era moonbeams! Good for them! The ones they issued us a few years back were a bit newer smaller LED ones, more expensive and broke pretty easily.
i’m currently losing weight in order to become a marine, are there any tips or notes anyone has for me? becoming a marine is something i’ve wanted to do since i was a kid.
@@Madvillainy08 considering I was mostly a B student and have been out of school for about 11 years it wasn’t that bad. Just take lots of practice tests w your recruiter. There are only so many questions/ formats so a lot of it becomes memory if you practice enough. I got a 71 today at meps.

Really hard to say. I went through right after 9/11 and it wasl pretty tough back then. One of my buddies ended up becoming a drill instructor around 2014 and when I asked him, he said it's still pretty rough. Same old boot camp. All the craziness still goes on inside the squad bay when the cameras are turned off. I personally have a hard time believing this because I work at an elementary school and kids nowadays are really soft. I can't see them getting cussed at and belittled like we did and getting tuned up by the drill instructors. I could be wrong though. At the end of the day, as long as they can file a war, doesn't really matter.
@@duped8273I joined after 9/11. I saw a discovery channel documentary before I went in then it was nothing like the real thing. It was a lot worse. The documentary was watered down. The closest documentary I've ever seen to actual USMC boot camp is ears open, eyeballs quick. That gets pretty close.
As odd as it may seem, there is a method to the madness. The DIs are creating chaos and forcing the recruits to function, think, and respond in the midst of it. Think about it: processing information, thinking, strategizing, and decisions have to be made in some of the most extreme conditions (combat). If you think this is intense, think of what it would be like having to make life-or-death decisions while under fire.
I graduated Marine Corps Boot Camp in 1979 and before I die I will make 1 trip back to my Island and salute the flag. I Love My My Marine Corps.
thank you and all veterans for your service and your family for their sacrifice of you not being around for special occasions and such
I Honestly Enjoyed Boot Camp, Because It Was A Real Challenge, I Felt So Proud At Graduation

Looks calm and relaxing now 😅
Only cuz the cameras out basic is still hell
The weird thing is that I couldn’t swim before boot camp and I can barely swim now, but I sure swam during that qual. 😂
How many black people where there that couldn't swim lol jk
The Marine Corps will always be my favorite military branch.
Once there, the only real way out is forward. And if you don't get everything done the first time, you can stay there doing it your entire enlistment.
This was a part of my life I will never regret PISC 2nd BN 1st PLATOON 2052 D Company May 87 to July 87
How many black dudes except you where in your platoon?
ah man i had the best IT sessions there, really miss those days on the front quarter deck with my homies getting absolutely destroyed
Great video wish I was physically built better to of been able to experience this when I was 18 would of loved to been a marine salute to everyone 👊🏼

For all the current/former Marines commenting: what were the most common injuries you saw/had during boot camp? (and Thank You for your service).
Ankles
1:03 the crack in his voice
The moment they dropped those uniform items in that bin and filled that laundry bag, I could smell that screen and you did too!! 😂
wow issued dress blues, 86-92 we had to purchase after grad.
I love how they say dirty weapon and nothing is on the finger tip lol.
at 5:13 the guy on the far right looks JUST LIKE Donny O'Malley lmao
I’d rather have my ex back than be a marine.

I know this is marines, but damn, I wish I was afforded a damn clipboard during land nav keep in mind i'm in the army

I joined when I was 17 but the oldest you can join is 28.
I think itt 27 right in there

Chin-ups are not pull-ups, pull-ups are much harder
Plot twist this is only one day
what do they scream during SDI inspection?

fking hate this island
I go in tommorrow is it that bad?
How can anyone learn anything with them screaming in your face
That's the point: they're teaching them how to function under pressure, like in combat.
It works 👍
