I went through my crucible on the darkest night into a shitty rainy day. I remember having 2 guys quit before we made the final hike back. The days had us exhausted to our physical and mental limits. The weather was stormy and raining on us the entire time. But the graduation ceremony gave us clear blue skys and a gentle breeze. It was enough to make us all cry while receiving our EGA. I just got back from boot camp about 4 weeks ago. It’s gonna suck. A lot. Some days you’ll think to yourself why you ever chose to go there. My advice for boot camp is to suck it up and embrace it. The sooner you get accustomed to the way of life as a recruit, the quicker the days will pass. But, it isn’t all bad. Sometimes the hardest thing to do will be holding back your laughter with your platoon mates. All in all, boot camp is whatever you make of it. Don’t let your emotions get the best of you. Believe me, it only holds you back to dwell in your thoughts. Just turn your brain off and just keep screaming and running because before you even know it you’ll be standing in front of the Statue of Iwo Jima, trying to hold back your tears while receiving your EGA. And in just two more weeks you’ll be standing at parade rest at Peatross with your family cheering you on at the day of your graduation. Just keep your head up and remember why it is you joined, and use that passion as a fuel to help you perform your best. Semper Fidelis.
Graduated from camp a week ago today. Whenever you get split up for your groups, try to stick with friends. I actually had some fun during the crucible, but it did suck at times.
50 years ago when I joined the navy, it was because I didn't think I had the chops to be a Marine ... that was before The Crucible .... I can't even imagine me making it through Marine basic training using today's USMC standard. I guess that's why even as a sailor, the inter-service arch-enemy of Marines .... I will always love and respect them.
I’ll be shipping out to the island soon. I can’t lie, I’m terrified. However, I lost two grandfathers this past year. I got a divorce. Kicked a very bad drinking habit. I’ve done a lot of things I’m not proud of. I just turned 22 and I feel that all I’ve been able to produce is mistakes since graduating high school. My grandfathers never got to see me truly succeed at something. I don’t eat nearly enough, I’ve become lazy, complacent, I quit everything and worst of all, I live every day in fear of my own mortality. So again I am truly terrified, but make no mistake; the only way I quit is if I die.
It’s tough at first getting used to a new life. Focus and keep a low profile. Make sure your core is strong. Everything you go through is worth it. The mind games can be a challenge….don’t take anything personally…..I did and I couldn’t sleep for 2 days. Hang in there and good luck. And congrats on kicking your habit

Am I the only Marine that thinks the Crucible should be harder? I went through in 08 for context and I graduated feeling satisfied, but at the same time underwhelmed. 2-3 Corpsman attached said they did that same course 3 times that month.
Ok, it stuck out like a sore thumb. About 2:50 they are starting waiting to start. Ok, why did the recruit have the Marine name tape. Am I missing something?
You get your name tapes at around halfway through Phase two of recruit training, it sets you apart from phase 1 recruits, along with blousing your boots, to show you’ve earned a little something. You aren’t a marine until you have received your Eagle Globe and Anchor.
So early on into the cycle, you send your desert cammies out to get name tapes on them. And usually at the start of second phase, you get them back and you send your woodlands out to get name tapes. That’s why I’m second phase you’ll see recruits wearing deserts. But by third phase, they will be back in woodlands but for field events such as bwt and the crucible, they were deserts.

Got a genuine question about the bags they wear. My friend graduated basic and I helped him with his bags. I want to go to the Marines but at my body weight there's no way in hell I'm hiking miles with 50lbs on my back. I'm 104lbs, and maybe 107-110lbs soaking wet, so my question is, do they hike with them on or no
The standard pack weight during Recruit Training is 54lbs, this is to simulate carrying a fighting load during a deployment or training exercise. Along with this pack, recruits will also carry their M16A4 Service Rifle as well as wear their Kevlar Helmets. This is all carried throughout the hikes during recruit training. We have numerous recruits that become Marines who overcome similar challenges to yours. All of this combined allows us to develop basically trained Marines who are ready to fight and win our nation's battles with the same ferocity we have since our origins. Semper Fidelis, Lance Cpl. @@MCRDPI just the gear is like half my body weight. I have the mindset and build to be a marine, I'm just a very light person. What should I do to bulk my weight up so I can join and not struggle with just putting the gear on?
When did they change so much? @3:20 we had live ammo and the instructors weren't so close, also it wasn't something everybody did, had to keep your rifle clean. Those who didn't ate chow and cleaned their rifles lol this was 2019.
you gradually build up to it. the first one is like 2 miles and then you do a 5 mile and then a 6 mile and the crucible hike is 9 miles. i might be forgetting some but you get the idea.
Bruh... from a Marine from back in the day... early 2000's...this video is hella funny. No sounding off, weak sauce rushing... Pierre I get what you're saying. There's no speed and intensity. The DI'S step back and allow recruits to dig deep and push them selves and each other. Instead, they just get laxed, their true character takes over, some exemplify the Marine Corps most just follow.
I am delivering a sermon to you 🙏😊 please read Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil. Pray to be saved from hell (whatever that may be). Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don't wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better. And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊 Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄 I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD 🙏 Amen. I have worded a short prayer for you to say if you are not sure what words to use, it may not be the best but here it is 😊 '' CREATOR, LORD GOD, Please forgive me and my friends and my family for our immoral acts, please help guide us in a positive direction and please help us against evil. Please save us from Hell and have mercy on our souls. Thank you CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen. '' Please say this at least once a day for at least a month, do it longer if you want to and can 🙏 You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😊 Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol. Please put your hands together 🙏 bow your head and say this prayer: "CREATOR, LORD GOD, please know that I worship you and not any idols. Thank you for everything CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen" Say ' Om Namah Shivaya ' out loud or in your head 108 times, or try to do it 1008 times 😊 try to do it everyday if you want repeat this aloud for as long as you want to, try to do it for like an hour a day or say it in a prayer "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" You can also say this prayer once a day or repeat it aloud as many times as you would like to: "Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen." Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." "O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!" Repeat this aloud at least 3 times or as many as you want, do it everyday if you can I apologize for all the words 😊 I know how it may look

That female drill instructor sounds like my female drill sergeant in basic. We all love her and her humor but strict attitude.
The best of the best ❤️
This Thursday is the day for my son! Semper Fi❤❤
Much respect.
graduated back in 2000. Sgt Croom had my brain so twisted I thought I was a failure after graduating
I graduated in 2000 pi, who were u with
My son is about to start week 4 of Marine Boot camp at Paris Island. I don’t think I should have watched this video
I have someone doing week 10 right now at Sandiego
Your son is strong. He can do it
Hey I guess they're at the same week now. I wish yours the very best
I’m pretty sure I slept walk through the entire night hike, because I remember nothing other than having to carry the stretcher lol.
lol autopilot
My platoon guide in bootcamp shot himself in the shin thinking he was aiming at his foot in MCT during nightfire drills cause he wanted out.
My daughter will be doing the crucible tomorrow at 2am .
Nice work! Looks like Valley Forge in Army Basic!
Am I the only Marine that thinks the Crucible should be harder? I went through in 08 for context and I graduated feeling satisfied, but at the same time underwhelmed. 2-3 Corpsman attached said they did that same course 3 times that month.
Don’t make the mistake of taking a dump during the Crucible. MRE’s help with the constipation 😂
Nah bro they gave me explosive diarrhea lmao
Best and worst shit I’ve taken was during the crucible. It was frozen cold in that metal toilet.
Those things are nasty.
If i remember correctly, we got our name tapes at some point between phase 2 and phase 3.
On the West Coast the crucible involves 60 miles of rucking and The Reaper climb at the end. Not "hey go roll around in some mud".
San Diego’s crucible is way harder we got mountains to climb 😭
While the West Coast may be the best coast, the East Coast is by far the Beast Coast!
Have a meritorious day!

The Crucible 1990. Plt.1086. Retired 8541. Old School.
The crucible was indoctrinated in 1996 by commandant general krulak.
I remember....I remember being the top of my class jk... 😅😅 "you carry me across the mud so i don't get dirty" 😂. " DI you yell at at me one more time, I will tell my mom". "Why hasn't my pancakes arrived in time( rings bell )". 😅😅😅😅😅 yup good days!
Yeaaa....everyone prettt much looks exhausted/dead. Once at the end everyone wide awake
What happens if a recruit gets injured during the crucible?
They get dropped to the next class
Or grow a set of nuts and keep moving
Where my senior drill instructor squad members at??
It was a toughest day of mu life.
On that day I changed.
the crucible compared to what I went through in the US Armys Forge looks more pain staking
January 89 parris island 3024 we did not have the crucible just basic warrior training (BWT) I was lucky I guess No SOI, or School of Infantry either. I just went to military occupational schooling (MOS school) after basic .............................................. dont let the old timers fool you my grandfather got weekends off to go to town during training! at boot camp at parris island!
Badass and scary video! Too bad that metal isn’t being used for tank armor on MARINE TANKS!!!
tanks were removed from the marine corps
@@skriichi yea due to budget problems…..
@@ghosttankcommander5397 Munitions and tactics spelt the end of tanks. How long did it take to wipe out the tanks in Kuwait. They're wiping out Soviet tanks with commercial drones and IEDs in Ukraine. One guy with a MANPAD can take out a million dollar tank.
My tank commander is a former marine tanker
21 months ago 😮
Im 26 and thinking about joining the marines but im a little scared to lol
Can i be a marine or any military service member at 30 ? I wanted to go when i was 18. But i got into bullshit with the wrong crowd of people.
Yes

@@MCRDPI just the gear is like half my body weight. I have the mindset and build to be a marine, I'm just a very light person. What should I do to bulk my weight up so I can join and not struggle with just putting the gear on?
Sounds like weak sauce. You can do
@@miakalifa8234 Broski I went in at 121 pounds. If you got the grit in you, you can do it.
The full fear we carried was around 80-120 pounds.
I am currently working towards a career in the Military 10 of which I plan to spend in the corps any advice for bootcamp, life, deployment?
don't plan on a career, pick a job with useful life skills, take boot camp day by day, you won't be deployed
Don’t do it.
I would suggest start with the Marines and then go Army.

God bless our Corps. Platoon 1001, A Company, 1st Battalion.
Paris islands crucible is light compared to MCRD San Diego they have no hills up there
And ion see a single one of them wearing a flack lmao we wore one the entire time and we ran every hike
One of my family members is in California and he why at Parris Island aerosol
Heading to boot camp in march🫡
Looks like fun
Platoon 1066 First Battalion Alpha Company Lead Series
Me doing this and going through itb this stuff was a fever dream lol
Imagine being on the east coast and not having to summit the Reaper... lol
When did they change so much? @3:20 we had live ammo and the instructors weren't so close, also it wasn't something everybody did, had to keep your rifle clean. Those who didn't ate chow and cleaned their rifles lol this was 2019.
"Honey why do you always yell and expect instant willingness and obedience to orders?", "13:23 sweetheart.".
I cant wait
I didnt poop the entire Crucible. I consider that a huge accomplishment.

More live fire, blanks do not cut it.
How many miles total did they ruck?
you gradually build up to it. the first one is like 2 miles and then you do a 5 mile and then a 6 mile and the crucible hike is 9 miles. i might be forgetting some but you get the idea.
80
They're still rucking to this day
@@deuslaudetur2451lol your right on brother! It never stops! 🇺🇸Semper fi
It's fairly easy, just like camping or hunting with team challenge exercises.
My buddy had to carry the motor plate threw this i thought . Maybe it was on another training
Mortar base plate. That's later, after bootcamp if they go infantry and mortar man.
When are they going to Make me???
Bruh... from a Marine from back in the day... early 2000's...this video is hella funny. No sounding off, weak sauce rushing... I got excited for like 15 secs when they were in the pugilstick arena, but that ended when their anti-climactic Crucible scene started to creep up into my bs meter. LOLZ. Semper WTF. Am I missing something or is USMC Boot Camp just soft now?
Weak sauce. Mid. Guys get in do their 4 and get out. They need to retain better cause recruitment sucks
Nothing has changed bro, marines are stronger than ever before and older generations will always have shit to say 💪
I went through it almost 2 years ago, it really wasn't hard at all
Pierre I get what you're saying. There's no speed and intensity. The DI'S step back and allow recruits to dig deep and push them selves and each other. Instead, they just get laxed, their true character takes over, some exemplify the Marine Corps most just follow.
I graduated pi in 2000, this is different than I remember, looks easier for sure

I am delivering a sermon to you 🙏😊 please read
Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil.
And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊
Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄
I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD 🙏
Amen.
I have worded a short prayer for you to say if you are not sure what words to use, it may not be the best but here it is 😊
'' CREATOR, LORD GOD,
Please forgive me and my friends and my family for our immoral acts, please help guide us in a positive direction and please help us against evil. Please save us from Hell and have mercy on our souls. Thank you CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen. ''
Please say this at least once a day for at least a month, do it longer if you want to and can 🙏
You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😊 Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol.
Please put your hands together 🙏 bow your head and say this prayer:
"CREATOR, LORD GOD, please know that I worship you and not any idols. Thank you for everything CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen"
Say ' Om Namah Shivaya ' out loud or in your head 108 times, or try to do it 1008 times 😊 try to do it everyday if you want
repeat this aloud for as long as you want to, try to do it for like an hour a day or say it in a prayer "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner"
You can also say this prayer once a day or repeat it aloud as many times as you would like to:
"Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen."
Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
"O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!" Repeat this aloud at least 3 times or as many as you want, do it everyday if you can
I apologize for all the words 😊 I know how it may look

The crucible was easy. I’ve had high school soccer practices that were more difficult.
Soga-Son, I like watching you, but you need to enter the ring with GRIT in your teeth and motivated determination.... I know you're a young Sumo Fighter, but you're a BIG man with HUGE legs... That skinny fighter should have never beat you!!!
I have also watched you during training matches and you lose too much. So get in that ring with a WINNER'S determination with FIGHT and FIERCENESS in your eyes, and NOT a half hearted mindset young man 🤨🤨🤨
I am rooting for you, Soga-Son. ⚔️

Everyone is so dramatic. The crucible wasnt that bad at all.
No, but for most, who didn't grow up like us, it was fairly difficult.
@@MrStaybrown The thing is, by the time you get to the crucible you have already gone through hell and physical conditioning. You have been prepared for the crucible.
