The old chaos spawn kit is a trap if you use it on it's lonesome. The trick is to combine it and it's many extra bits with other kits that'll allow you to create more abominations. The crypt horrors come to mind. 3 more bodies, waiting to be mutated. So I would at least get one of the old spawn kits, just for all the extra bits.
I used that Tainted Cohort box to make four characters. A Lord of Contagion, Lord of Virulence, Chaos Lord in Terminator Armor and Chaos Sorcerer Lord in Terminator Armor.
Brilliant idea. I'm using Lord Feltius as Sorcerer, but the others as just boring Blightlords, which means I don't use them. Making them into characters is so much better!
Great video. Really appreciate these tips and heads ups on good kits to kitbash from. As some one coming back into the hobby after a long time and without a deep bits box it's very useful.
Great vid!! Perfect way to start the Saturday! When the DG comes out I really hope they put back special rules for the Gellerpox, that’s such a cool box!! Until then Chaos Spawns it’s got to be
@@FogOfGore yeah my LGS had a box until recently, I really regret not picking it up. But I try to operate without a backlog so I have to finish all my poxwalkers first.
Loving this upgrade/alternative model series so far, its a great concept. World Eater players and collectors would really benefit from a similar video 🤞
Duuuude, I love me some World Eaters. Coming Saturdays video is a World Eaters Master of Executions kitbash video and I paint him in the style of your profile picture 😀
Honestly, the Skaven Plague Monks could work very well as cultists on their own, or maybe with some pistols added on. The 40K universe is full of Beastmen, so it's only right that some of them might serve Nurgle. (Some of the new Clanrat sculpts for AoS 4e also have a distinctly Pestilens flavor, that you might pillage for use as sergeants; they'll be in the starter boxes, so they'll be cheap to acquire second hand going forward). Alternatibely, you might grab some Hobgrots from the AoS 3e starter set. Those come in pieces, such that the bodies have big holes on their fronts (where the piece for the chest armor would push-fit into). These could instead be done up with a little Green Stuff, to look like gaping wounds. You also might want to use Green Stuff to disguise their heads with long rags (to obscure the Hobgrot faces), or else put some other kind of head on (gas masks?). I just like the body sculpts for their potbellies, and the grungy weapons and equipment.
I like the old choas cultists with the robes. I think they look much cooler then the current box. They only problem ia that they are easy to build kits...
I've never had a good experience with Finecast models, but I saw someone use a gas-masked Ogryn head instead of the normal resin one included and that went a long way toward making me less dismissive of the resin Demon Prince. I'll probably always prefer plastic, but it's a pretty simple solution!
There is a big difference between Games Workshops finecast and modern day 3D printed bits! The Ogryn gasmask is probably from Tiny Legends, which is a great guy that I get my Death Korps of Krieg bits from as well!

Yeah, good idea to use the kit for the bits.

Yes!!! Everything mentioned is on point. I have integrated pretty much everything into my collection.
Awesome!
Great vid, im working on a death guard army atm. Wanted to make them more "mine" than generic. Cheers 👍
Thank you!

Glad it was helpful!

Thanks! I hope they get some cool rules, but I doubt it. They are already Legends, so they might even be taken out of production.

@@FogOfGore cool, looking foward to it!

All great suggestions. Using the skaven as cultist is a great idea.
Well done !
Thanks!

Good stuff! Can we get Thousand Sons next?
I'll start doing the research for them!
So the chaos marauders box will likely be coming back in some months from now as an Old World kit.
Did GW say they are coming back? They were clear about Beastmen, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just stick with the Oathbound as marauders.
Please do emperors children eventually!
Absolutely.
