    P20 vs Galaxy S9+ which photos do you like better!?

    • @lukasdvorok6456
      @lukasdvorok6456 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Matthew Moniz Much better comparison than P20 PRO vs. Pixel 2! Finally we see Night mode and HDR in action. Thank you :) Only thing missing is now zoom comparison, S9+ would most likely win that one over P20. But what about comparison with 3x optical zoom and 5x hybrid zoom on P20 PRO in various light conditions? :) Of course both S9+ and P20 PRO would totally destroy Pixel 2 when it comes to any zooming. So when you are on concert or taking pictures of wild animals or taking pictures of architecture and monuments or just photos of people without intruding into their activity, you are pretty much out of luck without any optical zoom.

      Matthew Moniz Also Huawei made huge fuzz about capturing sharp photos of fast moving objects with 4D AI driven focusing system. Wondering how that would compare to Pixel 2, S9+ and Iphone X. Not many people seems to do this kind of fast object photo capturing comparison between phones and later consumers cry, when they buy phone that captures blury photo of their kids or pets. :)

      Matthew Moniz Think I'd go with the P20 on this one. The night shots and the more detail it brings on the photos with no overexposure makes it better than the Galaxy S9+ camera.

      Absolutely love this comparison! U did a great job comparing them and I think the p20 just edges out the s9+ especially at night and with the portrait mode😄 but id love to see the p20 go against the pixel 2 and see the results at night -- with portrait mode too cus they do seem like they'd be similar!!
      Hope to see this comparison soon👌🏻😁

      THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S9 + IS, NO DOUBT, THE BEST SMARTPHONE IN THE WORLD!
      A smartphone is not a camera or a movie!
      It's much more than that.
      And the Galaxy S9 + (by Samsung) has softwate and hardware far superior to the Chinese Huawei 20 Pro.

      please tell me next time you take your D810 in your pocket to snap around.
      and what is the purpose of a smartphone other than phoning gaming and photoshooting? i think i miss something? oh an Organiser and as GPS , but where does the S9+ Performe better? hey one more thing the S9+ is 300 to 400 $ more expensive than the P20 man.

      Nobre Luso s9 best smartphone? I highly doubt that. A phone isn't just about the features it offers, it's also about reliability. Samsung is still far behind when it comes to battery life. Huawei have figured it out and believe me there's a miles difference between them when it comes to battery endurance.

    Watching this with my huawei p20. In my opinion, it's been over than a month since i have this phone and it's a bit weird because in contrary of what everyone says, i'm kinda disappointed of the camera. I mean, i took some shots and if we have a look, we can see that the details are sometimes quite not good. The problem is when you take a photo of a landscape, details which are very far away are not precised at all and you can see it if you zoom on your photo. I don't have that problem if i take a flower though. It really depends.
    We can see some noise too with the night shots sometimes because of the night mode. Sometimes, we better take night pictures without the night mode, it has a better result :)
    But besides, i love my phone, he's super fast and still takes good photos! (sunset mode is AMAZING), I highly recommend this phone

    Great video! Camera comparisons between the p20 and the p20pro would be very appreciated.
    About the style, there are so many videos online where two pictures are shown side by side and there is some music playing... i hate those, it is soo much better to have someone who knows what he is talking about explaining why certain shots turn out the way they do, thats how we learn about the cameras and what they can and cannot do. Please keep this up! Thanks

    1:50 - A wider aperture has a shorter focal plane, so it's natural for the clouds of the S9 Plus to have less detail because they are further out of focus. The P20 was the clear winner in the low light shots. I knew the S9 Plus was pretty good at low light, but not as good as the HTC U11 Plus. In video, the stabilization is better on the P20 in 1080p, but forget doing anything with 4k!

    I prefer S9+ because it's an allround phone.
    Live focus of portrait mode can do a much better job. Maybe you did something wrong, I don't know. Seen a lot of comparisons and S9 is much sharper than your example.
    In my opinion there's also to much over sharpening and over saturation. Lot of people will like this but it's too much for me. Samsung was always criticized because of this.
    Nightmode on P20 is very nice feature but if you look closely you see two things happening.
    One: colors are not realistic and sometimes washed out.
    Two: Exposure is better but image isn't sharp anymore. You can see it on the picture of the house. Probably because of the longer exposure. I've seen it on other videos too and some reviewer say that it's a hit'n miss with Nightmode because you have to hold it steady and most of the times there are moving objects in the scene which will look blurry.
    But HDR does a great job.
    In SuperSaf's review you see what I mean.

      Garret141076 You're right S9+ is currently more polished. Anyway it is more or less 3rd iteration of same design, minus new variable aparature and stereo speakers. But P20 PRO certailny have more potential with future SW updates. Because of camera HW it packs. So it depends how Huawei will handle those.

    *WTF?* does having punchier colors equal more dynamic range, when did HDR meaning changed? 0:24
    the only difference i see is that exposure on s9 is more otherwise i could seemore details in s9 shadows because of higher exposure but i do like the p20 image more
    If you want to compare Dynamic Range then fix either higher( or lower) exposure level in both images and seee the details in Lower(or higher) exposure

    Interesting video and I own the P20 and it's impressive. I mostly use p20 for Astrophotography and it's superb for that. I went to Glencoe near Fort William to test camera under very dark sky and wow it's was incredible so many stars and under dark sky it was fantastic. I even tried star trails mode and that was impressive. P20 is far better than samsung s7 for astrophotography because s7 couldn't handle it. I'm going.to do more star trails with p20 to get that perfect astrophoto with star trails. Durening summer last year I took shots of the milky way through Cygnus and turned out great. P20 is superb for astrophotography and I took some professional shots of the milky way using the mountains at Glencoe.

    P20 - oversharpening
    S9+ - over exposure

    So I'd go with the P20, unless I want to use my phone as a 4K recording device exclusively.

    Even tho images look just a bit better on P20, but video department S9 just kill P20. S9 will give u best overall camera performance. However it is good to see that flagship killer phone getting close to real flagship phone camera quality. P20 is the most beautiful phone yet. Wow! that twilight color is awesome! 😘👍😍

    You should compare p20 pro to the s9 +. Price wise, they are more comparable. P20 Pro has 3x optical and 5x hybrid zoom. That's superior and more flexible than s9 +.

      A smartphone is not a camera or a movie!
      It's much more than that.
      And the Galaxy S9 + (by Samsung) has softwate and hardware far superior to the Chinese Huawei 20 Pro.
      (For shooting, I have a Nikon D810 + 3 original "Nikkor" lenses).

    If you like using phone for photos you need a battery that can see you through a day and p20 delivers that. Although smaller than p20 pros and only lcd I've usually got 50 percent left at the end of a day. With heavy use maybe 25 percent. Not once has it needed to be charged before bedtime.

    • @lukasdvorok6456
      @lukasdvorok6456 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Piotr Płonka Who wants to carry gimbal? If small company like Oneplus could fix 4K stabilisation on Oneplus 5, why Huawei would not? It's just a question of if they want to. I have read one unofficial article from guy that went to Paris event that they are already working on 2 to 3 camera updates. So with bit of luck one of them will include 4K stabilisation.

    • @piotrponka7677

    • @paultasker7788
      @paultasker7788 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have both and the p20 software is better. Overall I'd say the camera is slightly better but you're not talking by much. Both are very good. Both a little over sharpened. Both could be improved with software especially white balance indoors. And really should have auto hdr option. Night mode is great for situations when standard mode wouldn't manage a decent photo. Or any compact or competitor. You will get more noise the darker it is. You do get better colours on night mode but only for still subjects

    Most reviewers take night time shots of random scenery. Most consumers take pics of scenery during the day. Night time shots usually always contain human subjects. Whether it be in bars, restaurants or concert. That would be a better night time comparisons.

    so, I saw some other reviews where S9 plus went against Pixel 2 and it was pretty close but overall S9 won in dynamic range and level of details, though many shots were just equal or Pixel 2 was better, still many examples and overall S9 was slightly ahead.
    Now you have video where pixel 2 obliterates P20 pro in every single image you shown, and now S9 plus gets owned by regular P20,... well, I am not sure what to think, I guess just that cameras are all great in expensive phones. But I dont feel overwhelmed with trust with anyone.

    I have P20 and also a Note 8. when I take a picture with the Note 8, I miss the P20, also the battery life is better on the Huawei. If I use the P20, I miss Samsung's Note 8 beautiful screen. This does not mean that the Note 8 can't take amazing shots, because some close up shots and click point and shoot, many times I prefer the Note 8, because the P20 could still end up making blurry out of focus images if you're in the hurry. I think, this is a software issue still, that Huawei still haven't really optimized EMUI on these devices.
    On camera speed shots , Samsung is a beast. Beside camera and battery , everyday versatility and smoothness, Samsung is still better. Camera and especially night shots is just one thing, not everything.
    EMUI software is just not cutting it for me, even if I change things in developer options settings to speed it up, EMUI has still a long way to go and I'm saying this who doesn't particularly like Samsung's TouchWiz either, but they really did make it better over the last couple of years. Huawei either needs to drop EMUI or work on it harder to be taken seriously. Anyone on the market for a phone, I recommend either of them, if you prefer large beautiful screens, go with Note 8 or 9, whichever fits your budget, if you don't mind the P20 LCD and want to save some bucks and making really good pictures is priority, then go with P20, if you want even more battery power and like to craft your pictures and don't mind EMUI OS, then go with the Huawei P20Pro.

    Prefer the p10 plus has 6 ram,better camera More pixels. 128GB.Headphone input. Stereo sound. Battery last longer. And you can put on more GB (sim card). And it's more water proof than the p20. It has gorilla glass, and it's cheaper.
