    Got my P20 Pro two days ago and so far it's pretty faultless. It's lightning fast no matter what you do, the screen is stunning, the camera is just awesome and the details in the photos are just phenomenal. Compared to the latest Samsung & iPhone it's better in every department. The fingerprint reader and the facial recognition is amazingly fast. Talking about fast, if you need to take a photo quickly you don't even have to unlock the phone, just tap the volume down button twice and in only 0.4 seconds, you've taken a photo. Beat that Apple & Samsung ! The battery puts every other phone I've had to shame and my iPhone, iPad loving wife is even amazed by the P20 Pro. I could keep singing it's praises but you get the picture. The Huawei P20 Pro is a brilliant phone and well worth a look if your contract's up or if you need a cheap ish flagship phone. You really get a lot of bang for your buck and can't go wrong with the latest gem from Huawei.

      Kenneth raiford, thanks for the comment.
      I've got the P20 Pro, my wife has an iPhone 8 and her mother has a Samsung S9 edge. Her dad has a Sony Xperia XZ but that's nowhere close to the quality.
      Like for like the P20 is a big step ahead of the S9. The detail on the P20 in real life is just astonishing, you need to see it for yourself.
      My wife is a Silversmith/Jeweller and takes all her own photos (with her iPhone 8 but now she wants to use my P20 Pro after seeing how phenomenal the photos are.
      I saw loads of reviews and comparisons before buying the Huawei (the camera was not why I bought it) but seeing the results in the flesh, honestly I've seen nothing that comes close.
      I have no reason to lie to you and my eyes have perfect 20/20 vision, I had an eye test last month. I would try to get a P20 Pro to play with and make up your own mind.
      Don't trust anyone ! Take care.

      The only thing p20 pro as that's better then the s9+ is the camera (most of the time) and it's really nice looking colour and the faster fast charging brick that comes in the box. I would say the battery as well but considering that you only get about 15-20 min more battery life with a 4000mhp then a s9+ that has 500mph less( so ye better battery time but drains a little faster ) And you can also double press the lock button on s9 to jump over the lock screen and go straight to the camera. So it's already beaten p20 pro in that.
      And almost everything else is better on the s9+ (except for updates maybe)

      Honor View 10 user here, coming from a Honor 8, battery that lasts for a day and still have juice for the next one no matter what you do (games, browsing, music youtube), outstanding performance from the Kirin 970, it's blistering fast and fast charge does its business in 90 minutes. And a 2018 device with headphone jack. Nice aluminum design, the blue really fits well in Honor devices, photos are very nice considering this is a budget flagship killer in terms of performance. Having it since February and 0 problems. Honor and Huawei are the Underdogs that slowly start to convert other massive companies like Samsung and Apple into their prey.

    I've had the P20 Pro for more than a month now and it's the best! It's already running in Android Pie and the EMUI updated as well. There's so much that I can do with this phone and I used to be an Apple user for years. I've watched so many reviews on TH-cam before buying this phone and I must say that it does so much more than what all these reviewers are saying about this phone. It's worth it and I don't regret purchasing it at all.

    Why almost nobody talks about the Easy Connect desktop mode is beyond me. Samsung will rob you of 99$ for the bricklike DeX unit, while Huawei only needs a simple cable to connect to a screen. This is kind of a big deal for some of us.

  • @rolexaddict4344
    @rolexaddict4344 6 ปีที่แล้ว +122

    I bought the pixel 2 xl than the galaxy s9 plus. Now I have the p20 pro. In terms of image quality all these phones are so near to each other but when it comes to details especially the night mode no one can come close to the p20 pro. As far as I experienced the pixel 2 has the best camera which gives the best results especially in day light and indoor shots compared to the galaxy s9 plus. However the s9 plus night shots were better when I compared them. Between the 3 phones the best speakers belonged to the s9 plus but I guess it had the worst battery which drained as hell. P20 pro speakers especially when you turn it side for the stereo performance sound clear as s9 plus but the basses are a bit better in the s9 plus. P20 pro has the best battery of 3 including my old iphone X . S9 plus 4k video quality is the best out of 3. After using all of these phones imo the p20 pro takes the lead. It has the night mode which is most important for an ISO maniac like me :) the best battery, a great looks and more ergonomic than the s9 plus edge screen. I never wanted to use s9 plus after handling the p20 pro. P20 pro is very fast in real life usage it felt faster than the s9 plus but the same as pixel 2 xl. I highly recommend it to everybody once you get it in your hands you will not look to buy another phone till Huawei makes the new one. (I used my mate 9 for more than a year which was a record for me :)

      Kuthan Karakoç thanks for your experience and I have a Mate 10p and must admit I am very impressed. All flagship phones are pretty good and it’s more about subjective opinion and the features that are important that makes a great phone. A large battery and usability are my prerequisites and unfortunately until Samsung gets rid of their annoying Edge displays they are no buys. The HTC U11P is another I am currently testing and that is another b]very good underrated phone.

    I've just had my new P20 Pro with me on a week's vacation. Hands down the best smartphone camera I've ever owned or seen. Got my "old" Galaxy S8 with me for comparison. It's no comparison. You'll get the best landscape and architecture shots with the "night mode" during the day! Don't worry about the 4 second shutter delay - EVERY SINGLE PHOTO comes out vibrant and sharp, with incredible surface/texture detail. And with night shots it's simply the best! AI can be overly invasive sometimes though.

    Was wondering: have you ever used a Huawei phone for an extended period of time?
    The thing is: whosoever has done so always think that Huawei phones are the best in NOT slowing down and deteriorating battery life over time. If that's actually the case, don't you think it's fair to say that EMUI is actually not only on par with Samsung's software, rather it's ahead of it (PS. looks are a thing of personal preference, so I wouldn't really count that). Samsung phones have slowed down till the S8, what guarantee is there that the S9 won't cause you to shake your head in the long run!?

      Redaan I had a s8 over years, speed slow down just a little sin new say no more than 5 to 10% and battery charge twice a days which not good enough. New just one charge a days! Now I sold my s8 3 week ago and got new p20 pro. My word it far better than s8 on battery last me 2/3 days depend how heavy you use it! I had 11 different mobile for last 20 years and none last a day before charge again and this p20 pro is best battery I ever own, speed faster than s8 by couple of second, and camera with plenty of setting choice, that where you can get a great picture once you work out the best setting to take a shot. Low light what can I say it best I see for last 20 years on mobile apart DSLR nikon that I own? Yes both s8 and p20 pro are a good mobile with weakness and good bit? It down how you want to use mobile for? As everyone got different point of views.

I was really impressed with its value and performance after 18 months now. • @panathatube
      @panathatube 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Emilien Durand Covering the notch via software is not the same like having a hardware bezel. Actually you are covering more screen real estate! For merely 70 pounds more I find no reason to choose the P20 pro over the S9+ which is a more complete and IMO even better looking phone.

      Peto Pedro And yet it's not even called TouchWiz any more. Try again and next time be more convincing. Actually all the TH-camrs of renown have said that this version is ultra fast and the most mature and certainly faster than the Chinese offerings. That's quite impressive because the S8 last year was pretty fast.

    This phone is a really good device, the camera is amazing, however the lack of 4k stabilisation is just unacceptable on a flagship phone, the 4k footage is unusable. Well, they can add some kinda software stabilisation with a software update, but i agree that it's a bit annoying to not have it and yeah it will kinda make the 4K footages unusable, it also lacks 4K60 which i can live with actually. It's one of the biggest reason i have my doubts on the score of 109 given by DXOmark, it just doesn't seem fair. Anyway i do hope that we will get some kinda stabilisation on the 4K footages.

    Has the P20 Pro for nearly a week. Very, very good battery: 65% left after a day running GPS for 4 hours and fairly heavy use. No day has left me with less than 40%,so wireless charging irrelevant. Camera is best I've used to date. Hybrid 5x zoom is virtually indistinguishable from 3x optical zoom and low light photography class leading. I would have preferred a headphone jack and there was space for it on the bottom. I haven't shot any videos so can't comment. Face ID works very well and fast. Private Space is a great idea for work files. Essentially, if you unlock with a certain finger then you immediately access what seems like a new phone and can add sensitive apps like One Drive and save confidential client documents there. Unlock with your usual fingers and you get your normal home screen and apps. Simple, but very effective data protection.

    I returned my P20 Pro today because of GPS problems: when in the background it will stop tracking after a while (at least on my unit), probably because of some battery-saving strategy. I tried every setting but nothing worked. A real show-stopper.
    Also: you can hide the notch OK, but what people never talk about is that the notification icons remain absolutely tiny.. can be a problem if you're over 40-50..

    I like the notch! Lol. I had the samsung galaxy s8 plus and now I have the note 8.. Thinking next to either get the s9 plus (as I preferred my s8 plus to my note) or Huawei p20 pro.. I used to have the huawei p9 but I didn't like it, but the p20 pro looks luxurious 😍 I think i'll go in store and play around with it to make my decision! If anyone reading this has tried both the s9 plus and p20 pro let me know what you preferred :)

    • @leonaldobrum
      @leonaldobrum 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have both. Ignore dumb comments about slow Samsungs, many people buy slow cheap SD cards, then blame the phone. Now how do they compare? Both are great. In photography, too. Basically comparable, P20 Pro gets best results in certain situations, especially manual mode and night mode, which require more effort from the user, but it is more probable that you get better results from the S9+ in normal point & shoot, since everything is fast and easy with the S9+.
      Now for the really sole advantage of the P20 Pro: battery life. I have difficulty with the S9 battery reaching the end of a day of heavier usage - but IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO TWEAK EVERYTHING then you will get a day and a half from the P20 Pro's battery easily.
      In your hand, the glorious screen and the great finish of the S9+ are easy to feel, as well as the much better sound, so it's a hard choice. I use both, but I do walk the P20 Pro about 2/3 of the time.

    Battery life is little better than flagship phones because it's not using a flagship soc.
    Biggest issue for me is mediocre video performance. It's not only missing stabilisation at 4k but also with 1080p 60fps.
    And 1080p isn't as good as competition when using stabilisation and research found out that bitrate is lower than normal.

    • @livolas
      @livolas 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Garret141076 it actually is a flagship soc, on par with the 835. And flagship socs are supposed to reduce energy consumption, so your point is not really valid. It's just the bigger battery and maybe some AI optimization.

    • @gileskellett6245
      @gileskellett6245 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Liviu Varlam correct. The Kirin 970 came out in October last year so is still only 6 months old. Kirin and Snapdragon are just on a different release cycle, that's all.
      I'm using P20 Pro and I agree, 4k stability isn't cool but I probably use the video 1 time per month if that so doesn't affect me much, others will be different.
      Camera and low light are next level to anything out there... And I've used EVERYTHING out there!

    • @rickstar843
      @rickstar843 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Kirin 970 is no faster than the 960 and actually loses in some performance benchmarks. So the 970 is actually pretty old.

    • @gileskellett6245
      @gileskellett6245 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      R SR you could not be more wrong and uninformed...
      Average Benchmarks HiSilicon Kirin 960 → 100%
      Average Benchmarks HiSilicon Kirin 970 → 125%
      That's the average over multiple tests, but the 970 beat the 960 in EVERY SINGLE BENCHMARK.
      End of.

    • @rickstar843
      @rickstar843 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have the same arm a73 cores clocked at the same speed. 970 was more for battery savings and graphic improvement. The cpu performance is nearly the same.
      Funny you use that average
      PassMark PerformanceTest Mobile V1 - CPU Tests
      960 - 264076
      970 - 202050
      So not every single benchmark.

    I got p20 pro the day it came out and it's now 3 or 4 months now and I'm still pretty in love with this sexy beast the battery is no joke I don't have to worry about lowing down the brightness the phone runs smooth didn't freeze on me since I purchased it the notch isn't a big issue what I'd say the biggest problem on this phone is the headphone plug but you also can live with it because the battery last for very long time so you can charge your phone when you go to sleep and listen to your music all day without worrying about the battery so its brilliant phone best one I've had so far, Go Huawei :)!!!!!

Is it tucked inside the phone like it is on the Samsung? People say why would you need it with 128 on the phone itself, but I take a LOT of photos, and having that SD card is a lifesaver!

      Believe me, will be, at least Huawei developed a solution to the notch , the user can hide it in a very smart way, also the benefit of the notch is to put out screen alerts،، So if you hide the notch, the alerts will remain at the top next to the earphone, since the alerts do not take up an area of the screen, this is a smart idea from Huawei
