@@BM03 But he's correct? In short, the asteroid that created the Chicxulub crater caused a long-lasting massive ice age that killed off the dinosaurs. In more detail, the speed and angle of impact threw up a massive cloud of dirt and debris into the atmosphere , including sulfuric acid from sulfate-rich anhydrite that had been vaporized on impact, that basically created a solar shroud around the entire planet; it first rained lethal acid rain (killing much of the marine life), rained brimstone and fire as the larger particulate came flying back down and ignited wildfires worldwide which contributed ash and smoke to the shroud, which then ushered in an artificial ice age that caused the fifth mass extinction event on the planet. 80% of all life died. There's a thin layer of iridium-rich clay that shrouds the entire world deep within the geological strata that matches the remaining evidence left behind of the Chicxulub asteroid remains, as further conclusive evidence.

On the Urshifu-R vs Ursifu-S discussion, I don't know about other metagames, but in singles Ursifu-S is vastly superior. Water/Fighting is better defensively, but has many top tier pokémon of different types it must watch out for, namely bulky water and grass types (Toxapex, Tangrowth just to name one of each). This also means it has no option in running coverage against both, since for example Thunder punch hits water types but is resisted by grass types. However, Urshifu-S is basically only resisted by fairy types, and it has both Poison jab and Iron head to deal with them. This means that while both Urshifus are tasked on wallbreaking and pivoting around, Urshifu-S is much harder to deal with defensively and thus much more efficient at its job. Thus, why Urshifu-R is currently OU while Urshifu-S is Uber. Of course, this is just for singles metagames and you have other reasons to choose Rapid over Single. Just wanted to comment on this since you said that most agree on fighting/water being vastly superior than fighting/dark in the urshifu context, when that is not the case in some of the biggest (unofficial) formats aka smogon singles.
I was wating for a dude to say that, because what's your saying is true, when this moment of the video happen i was like "eerrrh yea nah Urshifu S is way stronger than Urshifu R"
Rapid Strike is better than Single Strike in vgc, a little depending on the Meta but it has usually more usage the last seasons and in TCG beginning it was considered to be the best Deck to the Battle Styles release time, Single Strike was a joke compared it. It only got better over the time with newer sets but still didn't beat the numbers of Rapid Strike, well until now where both are useless decks because Mew VMAX invalidates both entirely. So it's a very close win for Rapid Strike.
@@StarlightMagician No, both Urshifu in VGC have the same usage rn. Plus there are huge differences about VGC and Doubles. Doubles has 6 Pokemon and banned Dynamax, VGC which is the main Doubles format has 4 Pokemon and Dynamax is allowed.
@@mipho5899 I still dont think that would put it over single strike. While rapid is better in vgc with single getting some use. Single was so strong in singles that it needed to be banned. 1on1 was incredibly more difficult to deal with than Rapid in singles.
In smogon competitive singles, Urshifu (S) is actually stronger, being in the Uber tier while Urshifu (R) is in OU Also, the ability bypasses protect. The move only bypasses stat changes (which aurora veil counts as, so it doesn't really matter)
I always underestimate how much data goes into these animations, and am do in awe of the hard work you guys put into the writing, this was another great addition to the series
To be honest, before the ball of ice exploded, I was expecting to get a DBZ-esque thing with Urshifu holding the ball of ice back and Lapras needing to detonate it manually. I'll still believe that's what happened, just unseen.
It would be fun to have another Eva reference of Urshifu holding the ball up while one or two other Pokemon arrive and attack/"destroy" it, causing it to explode on them.
Uh, shouldn't that giant cloud of pollen create a massive dust explosion when exposed to flame (ie a giant flaming ball being kicked directly into its epicenter)?
It would've been cool to see the gmax moves at least a bit more. Well, it was cool to see that even like that they still were able to show gmax meowth and gmax urshifu signature moves. Also rillaboom fuses with its drum set when it uses gigantamax. Some interesting details about the gmax moves is that gmax eevee can make everyone from the opposite sex fell in love and gmax pikachu can paralyze even ground types with gmax volt crash. I know that they technically don´t take into consideration movesets for these battles and focus on pokedex entries but the effect of some of the gmax moves should've been portrayed for the battle royale because it´s a big part of what makes them special. Even if they did show some of them.
You should've had a pokemon explode from eating alcremie's missiles. In the anime she feeds pikachu one of her missiles and little ash pikachu 'gigantimaxes' into chonkachu, but its just because hes fat from the missiles, he didn't actually gigantimax. Its actually really horrifying xD.
Honestly tough if somenthing is extremely calory dense and starchy it would oxydize for a really long time , Or explode , So cindarace would have doomed everyone
Incredibly late, but the Pokedex states that each of her cream missiles contains *100,000 kilocalories*. Ingesting one of those is going to do much worse than just making Pikachu thicc and rotund.
Which is exactly why I take issue with the whole "Ironclads were made to ram ships and sink them, so it sinks Blastoise" bit. They were made to ram /wooden/ ships. Blastoise is clearly taken from a modern battleship, which an Ironclad would crumple against.
i am an extreme golurk enthusiast golurk is my favorite pokemon ever. needless to say i was really bummed it didnt get a gigantamax. i mean, come on, its literally a giant robot!!! how could you miss out on that opportunity for something awesome and give gigantamax to a freaking apple
@@CoolGuy-yk9kd no I get it. Golurk is my all time favorite mon as well. And it would’ve been the perfect multi reference. Power rangers, Gundam, evangaleon, Pacific Rim, or something like that with big robot rocket hybrids
@@CoolGuy-yk9kd It was only Gen 1 and Gen 8 Pokémon that got the G-Max treatment. There are plenty of other Pokémon in the other six generations that were more than deserving of the same. Didn't think of it before, but Golurk was ROBBED.
Hey lockstin in the smogon meta game single strike was vastly superior to rapid due to it having the ability to hit almost anything with it's fighting or dark stab (both of which are good offensive typings) to the point that it got banned from over used unlike rapid strike. Just kinda throwing that out there
Gmaxes weren’t allowed allowed in the smogon meta game though. This is mostly based on cards and VGC. I would say urshifu should win but aurora veil probably would lead to lapras winning. Urshifu’s ability doesn’t bypass aurora veil anyways in game. Also urshifu’s spdef is trash, in a 1v1 with gigantimax I would say lapras almost always wins, it could veil, it could just max lighting twice, there are a ton of options for it. I think with how evenly matched it is, I would say lapras wins bc of the battle royale logic. If it was 1v1 no gigantimax, urshifu wins for sure. That BP reduction of max knuckle HURTS lol.
8:57 "It has an entire drum set made out of trees that it uses to control giant tree roots underground with music, which it does here to restrain *Coalossal* " Ah, yes. My favorite water/rock type Coalossal.
I think it was a missed opportunity to have Cinderace's flame ball cause a powder explosion when it hit Venusaur's pollen cloud, like a giant grain silo.
So one point you actually get very wrong is the Urshifu breakdown. Despite the 4x weakness to fairy, Ursifu -S is the most powerful and most used between the two. If you go to Pikalytics Dark type Urshifu is used the second most behind Incineroar and has the highest win rate out of every Pokemon in 2021. Dark type are more useful in regards to not being able to be targeted by prankster moves which is huge because a lot of popular doubles mons like tornados, whimsicott, and grimsnarl cannot touch you with status moves. Also the immunities and weaknesses for both are actually irrelevant as both has such poor special that even resistance doesn't help much. And both being weak to max airstream is the general concern anyways. In single battle Single Strike Urishfu is just straight up banned in Smogon. Wicked blow deals more damage then surging strike and the only thing that resists single strikes dark/fighting combo is fairy. It was so overwhelming in singles that it was sent to play with legendary Pokemon lol. When the two where first introduced, everyone initially thought that rapid strike was better because we only looked at the 4x weakness to fairy but we ignored everything else lol.
@@endk.3500 He used a lot of competitive reasons for both Lapras and RS Urishfu. Lore wise Single Strike Urishfu can literally knock out ANY Pokemon in one hit. Even rapid strike. So from lore and competitive. Single Strike is still better.
The bit on Gmax Urshifu vs Lapras gets a detail wrong- Unseen Fist doesn't ignore the damage reduction from Aurora Veil, it juts hits through Protect (and Max Guard).
Funny thing is if Single Strike Urshifu wasn't so defensively vulnerable to those fairy moves, it probably could have won against Gmax Lapras as its signature move isn't resisted by Nessie there.

The battle was epic, but hearing the deets on the Gigantamax allows a glance into the craziness that could happen in different scenarios via that winner list at the end. Stay awesome!
LOL! I didn't know Drednaw's neck extension came from the Anime! Just like I didn't know Golurk can turn into a CANNON. I wish the games could have the time to flesh these things out in their animations! Great video! =D
You guys did a great job on the video especially how the writing was executed, it was filled with hilarious and epic moments. (I also loved the little details within the video about some certain things)
Hey, Fun Fact: Did you know all the Gigantamax before the IoA have Physical Attack Animations? These never get used since all Dynamax Pokemon use Special Attack Animations Grimsnarl for instance Stabs you with a giant Hair-Spike
Lapras is my favourite Pokémon, so I’m so happy it won. One thing I’m wondering is what is Urshifu-R’s interaction with Lapras’ ability being water absorb? Is Urshifu’s G-Max move fighting or water type? Would it get absorbed by Water Absorb Lapras?
I generally found even GMax Pokemon to be not that much more of a threat than Megas, and even if you don't off them in three turns, they just go back to normal. But Melony's GMax Lapras I found to be a difficulty spike. I never really used my own long enough to consider why, though. Now I know. Wait a minute.... What's a Mega Pokemon? Is it some kind of bigger Dynamax?
Ooh you new? Megas are basically pokemon but using the right stone you can MEGA evolve it like guards glade gardevoir and lopunny to name a few and some legendarys can do it too mega evolution basically makes a pokemon tankier and stronger take blastoise for example blastoise is already tanky so when it mega evolves it skyrockets in defense and attack while also changing its appearance garchomp he's already strong correct ? Well it makes it even more powerful think Cynthia's garchomp and 2X ALL OF ITS STATS that's how powerful a mega can be they also look cool
@@Archer_The_Shiny_Hunter yeah you have no idea how the competitive meta was with megas. Garchomp was never viable due to its speed decreasing when it mega evolves. Also, none of its stats was doubled. In total, its stats was only increased by 100 points.

Always love seeing these explanations whenever another Battle Royale comes out. But... his name is Mr. Freeze. Even though, from my experience, he does have a doctorate in most timelines. But Doctor Freeze just sounds wrong so... yeah idk-
The game itself explained the Dyna/Gigantamax are the pokemons actualy distorting space to appear big, its not much of a biological growth but a quantum distortion.
To OP: That actually surprised me, in-game it shows Dynamaxing as a size growth rather than a distortion. To the other comments: Are you guys seriously offering nsfw services to kids around the ages of 13-16? Not one, but two of you, and a "free movie" scam. I hope you all rot in the deepest part of hell.

I always think the endings of these royales are interesting and take a lot of creative thinking with wondering who would win. I don't think I've ever really seen the final combatants or events of the last minute or 2 coming.
I don't know why, but corvaknights Gigantimax form is actually one of my favorites. Pokemon with tiny buddies are my favorites, and those drone feathers are cool as heck
a counter argument to the whole, "they physically couldn't exist" im pretty sure in the games lore, its stated that the Pokémon themselves don't actually grow bigger as a result of the dynamax energy, but rather grow a projection of themselves, basically they form a giant projection of themselves to fight with.
That's literally what he addressed. It's contradicted by the games. Also, who the hell cares if they couldn't physically exist? In case you haven't noticed, we're talking about Pokemon
so I enjoyed the video, but I wish there was some things shown differently (which should be expected) like after venasaurs pollen, there would be a dust explosion from the fire types or eevee not being affected by gang-related since normal type but catching on fire because fluffy (also I think snorlaxs gmove has more to do with the Berry tree growing from leftover seeds than it eating the same food twice)

Wow, making your opponent swap some time in the next 3 turns is so overpowered!

In singles Lapras and Urshifu-R aren't the best by a good margin compared to other options, but in a format with more pokemon they have the ability to synergize with others and drastically get better.

The only complaint I have about this video is he calls him "Dr.Freeze" instead of "Mr.Freeze." other than that, hella good video
Came down here to say the same thing. Although Victor Fries is a doctor, so I can understand the confusion
Mr. Freeze's real name is Dr. Victor Fries (Fries is pronounced as free not fry). So calling him "Dr. Fries" is perfectly acceptable.
Hey Mr Freeze gets to be entirely wrong about what killed the Dinos, then this man gets a pass too.
He honestly should be called Dr. Freeze though, it's a lot cooler, he earned his doctorate, and it's not like "Mr. Freeze" hides his identity in any way

@@mipho5899 Isn't Single Strike the Second most used Mon in Doubles, only behind Incineroar?
@@StarlightMagician No, both Urshifu in VGC have the same usage rn.
Plus there are huge differences about VGC and Doubles. Doubles has 6 Pokemon and banned Dynamax, VGC which is the main Doubles format has 4 Pokemon and Dynamax is allowed.
@@mipho5899 I still dont think that would put it over single strike. While rapid is better in vgc with single getting some use. Single was so strong in singles that it needed to be banned. 1on1 was incredibly more difficult to deal with than Rapid in singles.
In smogon competitive singles, Urshifu (S) is actually stronger, being in the Uber tier while Urshifu (R) is in OU
Also, the ability bypasses protect. The move only bypasses stat changes (which aurora veil counts as, so it doesn't really matter)

Not only that, they were also impenetrable to cannons.
These were used when wooden boats were the most common warship.
Which is exactly why I take issue with the whole "Ironclads were made to ram ships and sink them, so it sinks Blastoise" bit. They were made to ram /wooden/ ships. Blastoise is clearly taken from a modern battleship, which an Ironclad would crumple against.
I very much appreciate the Golurk appearance and desperately wanted it to get a Gigantamax form too

I mean by that logic lapris would have lost cause nobody used it
Gmaxes weren’t allowed allowed in the smogon meta game though.

I think it was a missed opportunity to have Cinderace's flame ball cause a powder explosion when it hit Venusaur's pollen cloud, like a giant grain silo.
Also it was nonsensical for Cinderace to get crushed because it somehow couldn't outrun two vastly slower Pokemon.
He just explained that in singles Urshifu SS was banned for straight up having no counters (in the very traditional sense, no switch in(
Ok but I don’t get how any of this would help it in this battle royale
@@endk.3500 He used a lot of competitive reasons for both Lapras and RS Urishfu. Lore wise Single Strike Urishfu can literally knock out ANY Pokemon in one hit. Even rapid strike. So from lore and competitive. Single Strike is still better.
