Great answer. That question and the question, or statement we hear all the time that you're just trading one addiction for another are so frustrating to me, because it's so prevalent of a belief. As Confucius said. The start of wisdom is calling things by their proper name. Physical dependence is not the disease if addiction. As Doc B has pointed out, one can be physically dependent on Diabetes medicine, or heart medicine, etc.,. Great answer doc. Thank you for educating people!

Wait a few years.. and when you don't have suboxone you will be in bad withdrawal.. for months I got on suboxone because I was taking pain pills would withdrawal feel like shit then cave in.. but I did get clean for weeks had a hangover or something and boom back on painkillers.. thought can't keep doing this seen a doctor got put on 16mg far to much 4 years have passed quickly I tapered down I was still in withdrawal for 3 weeks jumped off at 2mg.. wish I had never touched them the long half life makes the withdrawal last for weeks to a month .. suboxone is harder to get of than heroin or pills.. heroin 1 week your by the worst withdrawal then go on a blocker naltraxon incase you relapse.. been taking opiates on and off for 21yr suboxone is the worst withdrawal IV ever had .. wish I had just gone to rehab done my withdrawal worked on myself.. now I need my suboxone they mess up your hormones.. I got on testosterone because opiates crash your testosterone levels.. you will notice low sex drive might put on weight high estrogen be lethargic.. testosterone helped me with that.. but if your only on them a few months tapper get of them go on a blocker naltraxon.. suboxone is still a opiate that gives you bad withdrawal for a longer period than h percs oxys .. trust me there hard getting off and your still a slave to a pill without it your fucked and will be sick like any opiate but for much longer

Helping people get addicted to a drug, Suboxone were originally intended to get off narcotics in six months or less just like methadone. Get this doctor has people on Suboxones for a year or longer. All it is a Band-Aid because withdrawals are inevitable you're going to go through. It's so sad there are so many adult babies that play the game with narcotics knowing they can get addicted but then can't handle the withdrawal symptoms. I got addicted after cancer and I was on 320 oxycodone 30s a month for five years. After my neighbor's stole everything from me and my doctor told me to go on Suboxones I locked myself in my room and went through massive withdrawals for two and a half weeks. There are so many weak-minded people on here that need a Band-Aid because they can't handle the withdrawal. Try having a football-sized tumor in your abdomen that was the worst pain of my life withdrawals was nothing. I am so sick of doctors giving y'all free Suboxone and norkan meanwhile cancer patients have to pay for all their medications. And all you guys want to do is complain and complain and complain and complain and complain on how bad your life is. Wake up you are just another customer for the government. You are not clean if ur on subs.

As for dr. B you are not helping the situation out when you have people on Suboxones for a year or more. You are just covering up withdrawals with a Band-Aid and you know damn well people are going to end up going through withdrawals when you wean them off. And then they go right back to using drugs because they had it the easy way. I went through massive withdrawals and it didn't kill me. Just like you doctors handout antibiotics without actually knowing what the infection is and then people go and get an antibiotic-resistant infection.

I was in pain management for 13 years on fentanyl patches and oxycodone. I’ll be the first to admit I became addicted. When my tolerance went up and up and up it spiraled out of control. I never bought off the streets or stole but it was definitely headed in that direction. My life was out of control. Since I’ve been on suboxone every aspect of my life has improved. Even physically and especially mentally. I’m not sure how long I’ll remain on suboxone but it does help with my chronic pain so we will see. In the meantime I will continue living my best life in spite of uneducated people who arent capable of understanding the difference between addiction and dependence.

I am a Survivor of my addiction, I feel because of Suboxone. I had Absolutely No Hope of getting sober and it has saved my life. Now I can only speak for myself, and I myself was at my rock bottom and had to be for me to even consider getting sober. And this study has saved my life and I've turned my life around completely. I went to school and became a truck driver within a year of getting sober. And haven't craved a pill in two years. Since May 9th 2021 I have been blessed with sobriety. And I've worked my way down to only once a month of Suboxone and working on getting off it completely. I am fully confident that this treatment will save your life if you let it!!!!

Thank you describing the two. I have been on every form of opiates under the sun, due to Migraines and MS for 20 years. I’m physically defendant, but I’m not an addict. When I moved from SoCal to NorCal, I couldn’t find a doctor to prescribe my meds. My options were to do a rapid detox, or Suboxone. I chose Suboxone, instead of suffering with nothing. I find Suboxone helps with pain, with less peaks and vallies. I’m happy with where I am now. I just wish the stigma wasn’t there. Thanks for doing your part to educate.

If you are physically dependent you are an addict. Your body is addicted to the medication. And there's no reason why you should be on narcotics for migraines, I was on narcotics for stage 3 cancer I am stuck with two ostomy bags for the rest of my life, I was an addict because I was addicted to the pain meds that the doctors had me on. It states on the pain meds to take as needed not to take every 4 to 6 hours. As needed meaning to take when you were in the worst pain of your life. I am always going to be in pain I can either choose to let it control my life beyond stupid our products like most these people on on here. Or I can choose to learn how to deal with it. I am 5 years clean from narcotics and I did it cold turkey, I was on 320 oxycodone 30s a month plus liquid Dilaudid and liquid morphine and methadone for over 6 years, after my neighbor stole it all my doctor told me to go to a suboxone clinic instead I refused and chose to do it cold turkey and I like I try to tell every addict a person can do anything they set their minds to it's just excuses that hold a person back in life. withdrawals are inevitable you are going to go through them no matter what you can either choose to go through them now or you can choose to go through them after you get addicted to another narcotic like Suboxone. Withdrawals are not that bad.
Strong-minded people see see a challenge and they overcome that mountain and then go on to the next mountain to defeat.
Weak-minded people always complain and keep repeating the same mistake over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. And they will keep repeating that same mistake until they break the cycle and choose to want to better themselves.
There are way better healthier non-addictive alternatives like kratom. I know so many people that have had their drug addictions cured and cancer patient friends of mine that have had their pain totally taken away by kratom. The FDA wants to ban at because the drug companies that make narcotics like Suboxone are losing patience and money to people that are choosing a healthier option to manage their addiction and pain. Doctors like this make money off your addiction

"Sober" is a meaningless term itself. People arbitrarily choose what they do and don't want to include. And big shocker, its always the things theyre not personally taking themselves. Ie Theyll count themselves sober, but can't function without a carton of cigarettes and a gallon of caffeine. The real answer, is what the doc was saying. It's about quality of life. Suboxone isn't getting you high, but it is an addiction. Most of the people who get angry about whether its sober or not, are people who just want to talk down to others and feel superior, when theyre absolutely not. Don't worry about those people or the word. If its helping you, thats all that matters.

Hi Samantha, suboxone like a lot of prescription medications and opiates can cause dry mouth and its the dry mouth that causes the dental issues. Saliva, which helps prevent against tooth decay and gum disease and washes away food and neutralizing acids made by bacteria in the mouth, is diminished in someone with dry mouth. Bacteria can multiply and cause dental problems. As to what to do about it maybe Dr B can do a video on it :-)

      @7marspike 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Bearwithme560 I was actually asking if maybe Dr B can do one sorry :-) There are quite a few medications that can cause dry mouth which then indirectly causes dental problems. Chewing on sugar-free gum or candies can help stimulate the production of saliva and keep the mouth more moisturized. There is a great article on medications that cause dry mouth followed up by advice on how to treat it by Singlecare (Google 12 Medications that cause dry mouth and how to treat it). I can't post links but here is a copy and paste: "Dry mouth treatment
It’s been estimated that about 21% of people who take medication have wanted to stop because of their experiences with dry mouth. The good news is that dry mouth can often be treated at home with a little bit of effort.
Here are some of the best treatments for dry mouth:
Chewing sugar-free gum: Chewing on sugar-free gum or candies can help stimulate the production of saliva and keep the mouth more moisturized.
Using a humidifier: Running a humidifier in your room at night or in your home during the day will add moisture to the air and make your mouth less dry, especially if you breathe through your mouth at night.
Staying hydrated: Drinking plenty of water will not only keep you from getting dehydrated but will also help minimize how dry your mouth gets throughout the day.
Limiting caffeine intake: Consuming a lot of caffeine can dehydrate you and make your dry mouth worse. Consider limiting your caffeine intake to help with your dry mouth.
Stopping all tobacco use: Smoking cigarettes or using other products that contain tobacco can cause dry mouth because they slow down the production of saliva. Quitting smoking may help improve your dry mouth.
Using a mouthwash: Rinsing your mouth in the morning and/or at night after brushing your teeth with an alcohol-free mouthwash can help improve overall oral health and reduce dry mouth. Mouthwashes that contain xylitol, such as Biotene, may be especially helpful for improving dry mouth because xylitol has been shown to promote saliva production.
Using saliva substitutes: Over-the-counter saliva substitutes like Mouth Kote and Biotene OralBalance Moisturizing Gel can help treat dry mouth and are available at most pharmacies.
Trying an herbal remedy: Some herbs like marshmallow root, ginger, and nopal cactus may help stimulate saliva production. It’s important to note that the FDA doesn’t regulate supplements in the same way that it does medications, so it’s always a good idea to talk with your doctor before taking any herbal medications.
Trying a dry mouth medicine: Sometimes healthcare providers will prescribe patients with severe dry mouth medications like Salagen (pilocarpine) or Evoxac (cevimeline) to help stimulate saliva production. When considering taking medication specifically for dry mouth it’s important to think about whether or not it will interact with any medications that you’re already taking. If you’re taking a medication that’s causing your dry mouth, there’s a possibility that it will negatively interact with a medication to treat your dry mouth. Your physician is the best person to ask about whether or not it’s okay to take medication for dry mouth in addition to other drugs you might be taking.

I’ve suffered with neuropathy in my legs for 37 years. For 30 of those years I took pain meds. But even with the pain meds after 2 -2 1/2 hours I could feel the pain comming back. If you’ve never had it I pray you never do because it’s a living hell. So after 30 years I got tired of waking up every 2 or 3 hours to take more pain meds. One day about 7 years ago I went online to look for any type of alternate treatment for neuropathy. I came across a doctor in FL who was prescribing Suboxne for the leg pain. About a week after that I had to reschedule my appointment at the pain clinic. That meant I had to go four days without the Suboxone. I was sitting on my porch feeling absolutely miserable and full blown leg pain when I neighbor come over to visit. He asked be what was wrong because he said I looked like hell. Told him about missing my appointment so I hadn’t slept much. I was telling him about being tired of taking that shit every 3 or 4 hours , and waking up every few hours to take more. Was telling him I was trying to find a new way to stop the pain. That’s when I told him about the Dr thats giving his patients Soboxone. It just so happens that he took Suboxone, so he ran home and got one for me. He instructed me to only take half and fold it and stick it under my tongue. I had my doubts but I tried it anyway. About a half hour after taking it suddenly felt like someone pulled the plug on a bathtub full of water. I felt the leg pain just drain down my legs and out of my body. It was incredible. And the best part is it kept the pain away for around 22 hours before I felt it start to come back. So I’ve been on it for 7 years now and it still works. Still only take a half one in the morning and a half one at night to leve pain free.

Not even close to trading one for the other, most would rather be on something other then Suboxone, besides it being none of their business to judge either way, if it gives u back your life, quality of life & your not out committing crime or hurting anyone, sure seems like a good thing to me, medicine, is just that, medicine.

I went from opiates to subs now to kratom and life is good but it’s expensive in my area. Would it make sense to go back to subs?

Only is an understatement. Even trying to quit off 2mg is crazy. U really gotta amp it up and get down to like .25

Not sober if you're using a narcotic just to get off another narcotic and because you're too much of a baby to go through withdrawals.

@@jennifercleland4852 I just don't get some of these people. After battling stage 3 cancer for five years I was addicted the doctors have me on 320 oxycodone 30s are month. Then the next door neighbor's I live next you stole all my medication. The doctors won't refill it..... And told me to go to a suboxone clinic I said to them f*** off. Locked myself in my room and went through massive withdrawals for two and a half weeks. Yes it sucked but withdrawals were nothing compared to cancer on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 being the worst. Cancer was like a 12 and withdrawals was like a 3. Going on seven years clean now. I'm always going to be in pain for the rest of my life. I can either choose to embrace it or I can let it control my life like all these people are doing with the Suboxone crap. Withdrawals are inevitable. All Suboxones are.. is a government Band-Aid, eventually the person will go through withdrawals. A person can do anything they set their minds to it's just excuses a used that holds them back in life. All these people can stop anytime they want to they just don't want to go through withdrawals so they just keep using. It's a broken record

Yes, I agree with switching one drug with another but Suboxone has helped lots of people and it sure gets cravings out of peoples minds so they don’t go by dope that could kill them with fentanyl

I started suboxone my third day in withdrawals from opiates and I was prescribed to take one 8mg sub strip twice a day. What I did I do not recommend anyone to do! I was purchasing what I thought were Percocet 30’s but when I was drug tested I tested positive for fentanyl so I was advised by my doctor I was taking street grade fentanyl which wasn’t real fentanyl and I had to wait a minimum of 48 hours to start taking suboxone. I started sub on my 3rd day of withdrawing and the two sub strips I was prescribed to take wasn’t helping with my withdrawals so I went against what my doctor prescribed and literally took 30 sub strips in 3 days and on the 4th day I stopped taking the suboxone and never took anymore and never had any withdrawals from suboxone and never had a craving for any opioids. Today I am not taking suboxone and I did not have to taper down to avoid withdrawals from suboxone. I am drug free and not on any medications, I have my life back thanks to suboxone and I’m here to verify it works!
