Let me do u one even better. A new model is for people who doesn't have a device but want one. Another reason to upgrade is if you're having iues with your old device. I'm still on t he tab s7+. I upgraded to the s24 ultra from the s20 only because I was having issues with the charging port and I did want a bigger screen
@xdx2x371 Even the S7 series were great tablets, but because they are on their last major update it might make sense to upgrade. I'm glad they extended the upgrade cycle started with the 8 series. So will be good for a few years.
go for s9 ultra only if new buyer or upgrading from tab s6/s7. well one major improvement is battery backup due to SD gen2 processor u will get fantastic battery juice. for me IP67/68 rating useless
It's really the same difference as upgrading from the S22 to the S23. There are a number of improvements to make it worth while I think. If you really enjoy your S8 then you will like the S9 even more.
I bought an S8 Ultra when it came out, and i am still very happy with it. After seeing this video, i have come to my personal decision that for now i don't need to upgrade. Perhaps next year. I use my tablet essentially to read my digital newspaper, to read my kindle stuff, and to browse the web etc. I like the big screen and how comfortable it is on the eyes. I also use the clip app and I am teaching myself how to make digital art. If i actually used my tab for heavy duty things i would see the need to upgrade, but i tend to use my laptop for heavy work. Thanks Saki for this video. I see that for now the improvement from one tab to the other is incremental rather than revolutionary.
Do you think I should update my Android devices? Because I think devices slow down as they are updated, except for security updates, companies slow down devices and force us to buy devices every 2 years
I have the Tab S8 Ultra for more than a year now and I really enjoy the utilities and performance of this device. I use it for editing photos, videos, and basic computing. I don't use Dex as I can easily multi-task with the tablet as it is. I hope Samsung keeps the expandable storage in their next Tab S series devices. The doubled performance of Tab S9 Ultra is sure great but I have nothing to utilize it for at this point so I skipped the upgrade. The built construction is also superb and I don't worry about it getting bent in my backpack. I just take good care of it not to get it wet. 😂
It's the same as going from an S22 to the S23. It's makes a great device even better. If you really enjoy your device you will probably be happy with the upgrade.
If you want to pay more money than necessary go with the s9. If you have any resemblance of sense go with the S8. Basically the same thing but cheaper. Or wait for black friday and wait for an even bigger deal on the S8
I bought the Tab S8 Ultra plus the keyboard for $1500+ last year. Just like with my phone I don't need/ want to get the latest and greatest every year. I will hold on to it for a while.
The logic is simple, if you have S8 ultra, no need to upgrade. If you havent got one and have money (about150 usd difference) get s9 ultra, but if your budget is not enough or you can save money, go with s8 ultra. 😊
Great comparison, thank you so much. One thing: What about the audio experience? Also, I got it from somewhere that the internal microphone arrays seem to be different? I am just asking for when hunting for a case because of the same dimensions (except for the cameras, I get it) it might make sense to go for a cheaper S8 Ultra case, the Samsung protective standing cover, to be exact. I couldn't find alike for the new S9 Ultra in my country. But it wouldn't work well if the mics are placed differently. I would have to Dremel in some mic canals into the case probably. Which I would have to Dremel some because of the camera cutouts anyway, so..😂 But since this is the only option for me if I want that cover.. Also, I would have opted for the Samsung keyboard cover but for that steep price they didn't even integrate backlighting? Which any cheap 3rd party bt keyboard cover can do for 40 bucks? Find the fault..🤔 Maybe I just will carry around my Logitech MX keys mini. A perfect match in my humble opinion.
Really great comparison, coming from a S8 ultra, this is answering to almost all questions i had , thank you! Though, just 2 or 3 quick remaks; - 1:50 + Are the lenses front/back exactly the same, too, or have the S9 ones better MB pixels too ? - 4:13 i installed the exact same bench tools and ran them on my s8 ultra (and phone too, not related), to compare with; i got about the exact same results more or less, except the Jazz Disk Bench Stress test one; for me, the curve is kinda reversed here, just half of the total (s9) speed as noticed.. avg 937.73MBs, ~~400MBs up to 5.00GB, and then suddenly up to 900/1000 till the end. - 5:21 I don't know for others, but the image of the S8 seems to me more detailed, saturated and contrasted here, the S9 even looking bit more washed away on already bright areas(?!). For pure HDR movies contents, the double pick at 1000 (compared to 500) could maybe be more visible/positive. -?
I think I'mma keep my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra till S10 Ultra comes out. The upgrades that there has been between S8 Ultra and S9 Ultra are quite significant in terms of pure performance but not in price ones
In my region, I got the S9 Ultra cheaper than S8 Ultra. I was planning to purchase the S8 Ultra but since the S9 Ultra was cheaper, I purchased the S9 Ultra 😊
I’m interested what gap a tablet fills vs large phone and a laptop/desktop? I do like the idea of this but cannot justify the utility over what I’ve already got.
It is weird but tbh on a tab the difference isn't that noticeable since I don't do much fast swiping in comparison to my phone but the battery is also really strong so leaving it at 120 won't be a problem either
The S7 and S8 11" is an LCD panel, not AMOLED like the S9 Ultra (or the S6). Adaptive refresh is easier on LCDs since they only have one or a handful of backlights, instead of individually lit pixels. (The S9 11" switched back to an AMOLED panel, if you wanted adaptive OLED at that screen size.) But as the other responder said, visually there should be no difference. The whole point of adaptive refresh is that you can save power (the electronics don't have to process a refresh and redraw the screen every 1/60 or 1/120 sec) while keeping the appearance the same to the eye.
Thank you very much for your comparison between these two models. I've Tab S7 Plus. I thinking to buy new Ultra tablet with bigger screen. I use my tablet mostly for Internet, TV News, TH-cam etc. Do you think S8 Ultra is enough or to buy S9 Ultra about prices? Thank you again for your comparison.
I just got s8 ultra for 700 dollars at bestbuy. Like you want it for watching , TH-cam, Internet, TV news, etc, and it runs great. Ultra s9 is at 1200 dollars , s8 ultra is almost half it cost.
The keyboard case not being compatible was the deal breaker for me. Im not upgrading and then buying another $300+ keyboard case for minor improvements.
the thing is that's why I just buy an otterbox style (supcase) (since screen costs a lot) and a separate bluetooth keyboard. Don't really care about bulk since it's thin anyway and rather have protection than have to buy proprietary accessories and plus a bluetooth keyboard can go through multiple devices
@@yNemesysI came to say same thing. Nothing a dremel or razor can't fix. But I have a couple universal Bluetooth keyboards that work great for my s8 ultra and a really nice case to protect the tab. Either way I think I'll wait till next gen past s9
ello, I currently have a Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 tablet, which may be great, but I mostly use it to watch movies in the car. At night or in the shade it's ok, but when a little sun hits the screen it's worse. I have a question whether the Galaxy S9 plus would be a much better equivalent or maybe only the S9 Ultra. And how do the S8 Plus or S8 Ultra compare to it?
If you could upgrade for USD 200 from S8 Ultra 256GB to S9 Ultra 512GB would that sway you? Even if it means enlarging the camera holes in existing cases or keyboard covers. This has been the exceptional offer from Samsung USA this week. I for one did bite even though I don't require a lot of performance from my Tab S8 ultra.
I have the exact same and i think so like a lot of things are upgraded. it's just interesting we are seeing this now like I was waiting for the holidays for the upgrade price to go down but why not for $200 lol
Just bought a "used" S8 Ultra from some dude for 450$, and it still had the protection foil on it. Bro bought it and put it in his closet lmao. Safe to say I got a deal there, and the preformace is outta this world for me and my type of usage.
How long does battery work? If you play nonstop videogame with full battery and other way if i watch the movies nonstop with full battery. Please inform
Very good. You have just mixed their sides a few times and that cause confusion. Especially when there are no title of which is which. You have not pointed the size of the microSD size differences.
can it stand 10 to 20k words on Microsoft with picture included or 30 to 40k data on excel? I really want this to be able to replace my laptop because it hurts my shoulder carrying that laptop around?
Do you feel you would see much improvement when the primary use of the tablet would be art and streaming? Since, of course, the s9 is more expensive. Wondering if its really worth the extra considering what I would use it for.
Unfortunately, Samsung's trade-in's aren't great this year... Two years ago I got the 8GB RAM/256GB SSD Tab S7 Plus in Mystic Navy it was $356 from Samsung with a Tab S4 Trade-In I got off ebay for $175, they gave me $400 trade-in credit, so my total cost from Samsung for the Tab S7 Plus was $531. I had zero intention of upgrading. Samsung then offered me more than I paid for the S7+ in trade, for a 16GB/512GB Ultra. They also gave me $200 credit towards accesories. It was kinda of a no-brainer, plus the 4-year OS updates and 5-years of security updates for $517.59. I absolutely love the Ultra, and have no intention of upgrading, especially since Samsung will only give me $650 for the trade-in of my Ultra and the total cost will be $750 for the 16GB/1TB version... Maybe next time, Sammy...
can you set the media output to connect Dual Audio for blue tooth - esentially connect 2 sets of headphones to the tablet so 2 people can watch the same movie at the same time?
Is it possible to use Tab s8 ultra screen protector on the s9 ultra? What about cases, even with different cutouts, is still possible to use same cases?
so cases no because the camera is bigger (like iphone kind of big) but screen protector possibly because i think the front cameras are in the same place but not sure. also button position is off
One more improvement I found through this video is the banding. In S8 Ultra I am seeing continuous banding scrolling from top to bottom. The S9 Ultra displays them near to nothing. Did you see? 😊
Notebookcheck's review of the S8U measured PWM of the display at 250 Hz. While that's faster that most display refresh rates, it's slow enough to be visible to some people's eyes (I can see it too). And especially visible when viewed through a camera, where it interacts with the camera sensor's refresh rate to cause beating (look up Beat (acoutstics) on wikipedia). Or if you're using it under older fluorescent lights (which usually flicker at 120 Hz or 240 Hz). This is what causes the banding - the camera sensor is seeing some parts of the screen lit up twice during a camera frame (so brighter), while other parts are only lit up once (so darker). Notebookcheck hasn't reviewed the S9U yet. But based on this video, it looks like Samsung went with a higher PWM rate on the S9U, making this much less of an issue.
Be ultra careful you don't flex the screen in any way, or they will crack and give up the ghost. Mine lasted 2 weeks, and I've just been forced to return mine, hopefully, for warranty repair. All I did was turn it off and put it on my desk for the night. Went to turn it on next morning, and it had a major screen white out. Was in a case to help protect the screen as well. Other than that, I love it, though surprisingly, I still use my S7.
To anyone thinking about getting the keyboard cover case DO NOT GET IT UNLESS FREE OR VERY VERY CHEAP its a bad keyboard it sucks to type on its flimsy and flexibel no feedback from the keys the touchpad isnt good either. Just get a normal case and a third party keyboard ive typed on bluetooth keyboards from friends around 30 bucks and they feel 1000x better. If you really really need the convenience of the keyboard cover id highly suggest trying to get it under 100 dollars or you will be disappointed I have the S8 ultra which is amazing the tab itself i can really recommend feels pretty future proof
I don't understand the keyboard cases at all like something held by magnets isn't going to matter when it drops so the "case" gets dislodged so you wind up with a super expensive repair (oled screen). plus like you said just get a bluetooth keyboard so the s8 keyboard just becomes ewaste and you can use it for generations of tablets
I have a question when it comes to screen brightness - is there a big difference between the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra? Well, I'm thinking about buying a Galaxy Tab S9+ or a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. I often watch movies on a tablet in the car and that's why I need a bright screen
hey samsung why not have a double sd card slot with up to 1tb each and have the tablet up to 1tb. I'm a tablet owner and don't care for the cameras never have used them. games on the playstore or emulation dream only to have that much space for games. not to mention the movies and music that it could hold. alway keep the sd card slot. with wireless charging, that's my dream tablet 😊
tab s9 ultra has worse screen, i upgraded from tab s8 plus and it have washed out colors on the same settings of display..on this video i see the difference too bettwen s8 and s9 . tab s8 have better color saturation
Right now trade in at samusung is $254. S8 Ultra for s9 Ultra. However its the keyboard for me!!! I love my s8ultra keyboard and having to spend 350 on another doesnt make sense to me lol. Wish i could trade in keyboard too! 😢😢😢
I was between these 2, but i could get the s8 U for a little above $700 16 GB ram and 516 storage, whereas i could get the s9 version for $1100 for the 12RAM and 256 gb version plus a slim cover. It wasnt that hard to choose
I have s8, s8 plus and now s8 ultra. This is an amzing tablet. I got the 256gb model and popped in 1TB sd card and its running smooth and flawlessly. S9 ultra is not a massive upgrade.
Yeah i upgraded to the s9 ultra and agree about the screen (even tho I didn't wanna believe it).. It's def not a big difference they are pretty much the same. Interestingly enough I found the S8 looks slightly better and more punchy colors than the S9 after messing around on both for about a week I figured out that it's a software thing.. The S9 tones down the punchy colors to make colors more "realistic". Which honestly I don't like I want my punchy colors so I found a setting let me change it . Once I did S9 looks slightly better than the S8 but still not a huge difference... So can't recommend if all you want is a screen upgrade.. Wait for the S10 if that is the case...
Nice video for the first time buying, got the tab s9 ultra,I did not want the 8 Ultra because of lack of water n dust resistance, speaker quality, screen brightness, speed, and a few other reasons, surprisingly the s9 ultra does not only edge out but beat the tab s8 ultra by quite a few margins.
there's a point where you just buy a s7fe for like $115 (trade in any old tab) which then trades for s8 for $200 more and then s9 ultra for $300 more so therefore $615 for s9 ultra lol timing has to be right though
It is not exactly the same the tab S9 ultra support E sims. There are slight differences with respect to LTE options with substantially faster 5G utilisation. I have had 4 1/2 hours more from the S9 ultra version.

130 to upgrade after trading in the s8 ultra :)
I have the Tab S8 Ultra, the S9 Ultra doesnt seem like an "upgrade" so to speak. I think I'll stick with the S8 Ultra for a couple more years
Same here. I have the s8 11", and I don't see the need to upgrade.
There's no need to upgrade if you already have past generation. The reason if you have generations of 2019, 2018 and more past years.

Do you feel you would see much improvement when the primary use of the tablet would be art and streaming? Since, of course, the s9 is more expensive. Wondering if its really worth the extra considering what I would use it for.
Only worth it for the ip68 rating. All else is exactly the same
2:45 s8 ultra ram
8GB to 12GB ×
8GB to 16GB ○
What is that first wallpaper on the right side?
I ve samsung tab s6 should I upgrade to samsung tab s9 ultra
Maybe next time, Sammy...
i know this is 3 weeks ago but now they are giving $800 so it's worth it now for actually $200 with edu discount lol
Not giving up my tab s8ultra....not worth it as far as I'm concerned.😮
can you set the media output to connect Dual Audio for blue tooth - esentially connect 2 sets of headphones to the tablet so 2 people can watch the same movie at the same time?
Will they come with 6G
good review. Your channel deserves to grow. I only commented to increase channel interaction.
Is it possible to use Tab s8 ultra screen protector on the s9 ultra? What about cases, even with different cutouts, is still possible to use same cases?
so cases no because the camera is bigger (like iphone kind of big) but screen protector possibly because i think the front cameras are in the same place but not sure. also button position is off
I've just bought the protetor and It fits! Thanks
Where can I get that wallpaper?
Whats the wallpaper with the car on the s9 ultra?
One more improvement I found through this video is the banding. In S8 Ultra I am seeing continuous banding scrolling from top to bottom. The S9 Ultra displays them near to nothing. Did you see? 😊
That is called PWM and is not banding. PWM is used to reduce screen brightness.
Thank you
I had tab s7 switched to tab S9 ULTRA, HUGE difference
Be ultra careful you don't flex the screen in any way, or they will crack and give up the ghost. Mine lasted 2 weeks, and I've just been forced to return mine, hopefully, for warranty repair. All I did was turn it off and put it on my desk for the night. Went to turn it on next morning, and it had a major screen white out. Was in a case to help protect the screen as well. Other than that, I love it, though surprisingly, I still use my S7.
How are you liking it? I am still debating to upgrade my s7+.
Me too it is.. Tho if coming from the S8 ultra it's not really. It's like a S8 ultra + or something..
If you really really need the convenience of the keyboard cover id highly suggest trying to get it under 100 dollars or you will be disappointed
I have the S8 ultra which is amazing the tab itself i can really recommend feels pretty future proof
Speakers?
Can you share the walpaper used in tab s9 ultra car one
Good video. The S9 upgrades aren’t double the S8.
The tab 8 ultra goes up to 16 gigs of ram not 12.
I'm going to get the S8ultra because I have an older S tablet.
it is worth mentioning that S9 speakers are better than S8 ... more bass and treble
I've got the tab s 8 plus. It does everything I need. I'll stick, not worth twisting
Heard it has the desktop Word and Excel. I'm a bit perplexe, please could you tell me?
Lie. You dont have all of these.
I do. Don't call me a lair.
Hopefully they will have 5g for the ultra tablet soon in the states 😊
Does Tab S8 ultra has Snapdragon 888? Because I had one and I remember that
400$ worth going to S9 Ultra now?
My S8 Ultra has 16gb of RAM.
My iPhone XR scores 1200 on single core geekbench. 1600 seems so slow for a device being 4 years newer.
What about the speakers
I will stick to my s8 ultra period!!! Not because i dont like s9 ultra but IM NOT DONE with my s8 ultra payments 😢😅🤣
Buying a tablet with a debt. That’s insane.
there's a point where you just buy a s7fe for like $115 (trade in any old tab) which then trades for s8 for $200 more and then s9 ultra for $300 more so therefore $615 for s9 ultra lol timing has to be right though
Could have wait until black Friday until Christmas and got it for 700 dollars at Best Buy. That's what I did.
Upload videos in 1440p or 4K. 1080p looks kinda bad in 2023/4.
What do i get TAB s8 ultra 128GB for £500 or META QUEST 3 512GB for £550 😅
Great technology. ❤
It is not exactly the same the tab S9 ultra support E sims. There are slight differences with respect to LTE options with substantially faster 5G utilisation. I have had 4 1/2 hours more from the S9 ultra version.
Please compare the speaker quality of s8ultra Vs s9 ultra
Slightly more bass.
Thank you SakiTech.
Thanks.
No need to upgrade..these mf companies has taken their customers for granted
i have s8 ultra 512gb/16gb.
Same
