The best knot videos on TH-cam...really helped me master the basic Scout knots and the Eye Splice was a game changer...great work sir, thank you.
Tripod lashing could be used as a tripod cell phone stand to make videos out in nature
Thank you! I've never really done knot tying before, but wanted some to grow my peas and beans up. I got it on the first try! I'm so excited!!!
I was able to use this lashing technique to lash together a "Flauta de Pan" or a Pan Flute! Just to let you know that this has so many great applications! Thank you!
Very clear to see what u are doing, the black backdrop, white wood and bright cordage with good lighting makes this a great demonstration, keep up the good work 👍
Ok so the dogging is what I was missing. It kept coming loose and I was getting frustrated, I'm like I know what a clove hitch is!!! Awesome, thanks so much.
I only got to first class in boy-scouts but I wanted to tripod lash checking, checking back to make sure I remember it right. Tip for clove-hitch (if you don’t know it) make two loops then cross them. Put that I’ve the stick. It’s an easy way to not mess up. Also you should always turn your two end both directions to make sure you didn’t do the clove hitch wrong. If it slips around, you did.
Thanks. If you want a small tripod you can use twine and bamboo skewers (like maybe as a toy or something).
Nice video, I like how descriptive you are with your words and the camera plus lighting is great.
Thank you! These videos have helped me a lot
Awesome work man, really enjoy the videos. I’ve also seen this called a figure 8 lashing
Yeah dude thank you for this
i know now to how tie the tripod thanks to you
Thanks man, good video, simple and clear.
thank you and I pray that God blesses you
That wasn’t a clove hitch at the end. You got anxious cuz you didn’t do it and then proceeded to not actually do it. You needed to go underneath BOTH cross sections but you only did the one on the right. Other than that… good information🤙🏻
I'm going to try this with 3 tent stakes and make a light tripod for shooting off of in the field.
+VIPER150311 Perfect use for that! ~ Bryan
This is so useful
This knot series is pretty great. Thanks for making these videos.
Nicely done thanks. used this for my tipi lashings
thank you so much
Thanks, looks goo. Take care.
A tripod could probably be used with a block and tackle (pulleys) to lift heavy things onto the back of a pickup truck.
That's not a bad idea
You're going to want to make sure neither your legs nor your rope is smooth if you want the tripod to hold a _lot_ of weight without slipping, but that sounds perfectly reasonable. Just be sure your legs are wedged/ dug in where they won't splay out and drop your load onto someone/ something; you may not get that person/ object/ body part back!
Shouldn't you flip over the middle stick and then lift it up so it will even get more tensioned?
What do you think about starting and stopping with a constrictor knot instead of a clove hitch?
+338 MRAD A Constrictor Knot would definitely be a better choice if you weren't using cedar spars and natural fiber rope, as it would bind better and not have as much of the slipping issue as this had with my demonstration using Paracord and Dowel Rods. Thanks! ~ Bryan
Constrictor is very good, but also is a quick realease type of knot.
@@chuckennuggett Constrictor and quick release? Always thought those are on the opposite sides of the scale...
Nicely done - Big Thumbs up
good day sir, can i use this video of yours for a little demonstration in our project?
i would have add an overhand knot after the ending clove hitch to lock it
Thanks
are all the frapping turns side by side and not overlapping?
Good lashing
Your gonna make a alien!?!?
If it's done tight it will not slip at all!!
very helpful
The way you show this, you slide the paracord around the long end. That's going to be impossible with longer branches. Is there a reason you couldn't do this lashing the other way around, starting with the knot closest to the long side, then wrapping towards the small end? I would think as long as you leave enough room on top this would work? If not, you've made a difficult project look a lot easier by using short dowels.
That method works fine, tried and tested
There is no reason, since there is extra stick on both sides of the lashing, the pressure is distributed the same no matter which way it goes. If your lashing is tight enough, you should have no problems that way.
The only reason why working towards the long end is better, is that you can choose your resistant leniently, if you are working towards a near end, you stuck with one amount of thickness in your lashings.
Boatswain's Mate?
thank you sir I am an indian rover
Is there any difference in tieing the weaving pattern to the bottom of the tripod instead of to the top? Since I've always learned to weave my way up the tripod. Another difference I noticed was the 5 weaves instead of the 3 I learned. Would you say that 5 weaves make the lashing stronger?
this lashing can be on raft ? good tutorial . Cool Vid !
+Jack Her3r Yep, that or the Floor Lashing. Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video! ~ Bryan
Super
Can you use Paracord to tie up Parademons?
Everything's all nice and paranormal around here.
अति सुन्दर 😊😊😊😊
I thought that "staves" was pronounced with a long "a", like _caves_ or _braves_...
They are. I mean, it is. You're right.
How much rope did you use to tie this? I want to teach this at a scout meeting and i want to get my lesson prepared
General rule is to add up the number of inches of material you are lashing, and it is a two-feet-to-a-yard for every inch.
Thanks for
Not stavs, staves.
pretty much useless. thanks though
