    Skills I may have learned as a youngster but only became relevant to me as an adult after moving to the country and beginning small scale farming. Using these techniques to build various trellises to hold pole beans, cucumber plants, etc. Now i am extremely curious, and will continue studying as I am interested in attaining more key survival skills. Awesome video. Subscribing. Thank you.

    Practicing in my living room with two 3/4in dowels and some twine. I'm not outdoorsy at all, but I've always wanted to know how to do this. Better to have the know-how and not need it than need it and not have it. At the very least, I could make some neat blanket forts out of dowel frames for my cats. HAHA

    Nice instructional video.
    I wouldn't use paracord for a permanent structure bearing significant weight though. It stretches over time.
    Mule tape! The tensile strength is much greater than paracord, and no stretch.
    And you can pack a lot more than paracord since it's flat and lighter.

    I’m doing this on a tee pee frame, like your tripod but 5x larger after I do it 3 times on each side I can lean some branches or trees on it and cover them with spruce or pine branches.

    would your beginning and ending clove hitches benefit from a little tuck-under that makes them constrictor knots... Or is that Overkill ?

    I wish I learned more stuff like this from my "Scouts".

    In case you're interested...if you used solid colored line, it would be much easier to follow.
    That pattern is just hard to see where the line is.

    Instead of that simple overhand knot (OHK) on your standing end, pull a little extra long tail and simply twist your standing and working ends together with 6 or 7 twists and then begin your wrapping. It works great. Reason being, if that OHK is not cinched down tightly against your clove hitch you have essentially introduced potential slack into your lashing. And we all know Murphy's Law applies in these situations.

      never mind, found this technique in a book since I kept hearing all these youtube tutorials weren't as tight as possible. Definitely necessary since the first knot will slip

    Would this work for two round metal poles too? Or not so much, as the rope can’t bite into the metal like it can with wood.

  • @Trip.C
    @Trip.C 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It will hold but it's not the best way to do it. You don't want your two pieces of cord to be drawn in the opposite direction with the knot bearing all the stress (like this) .Can't really show you in text. That was just a tip! Now for The Square Lashing , it is a knot itself idk why you used 2 knots it requires NONE .You start at THE BOTTOM loop around one time cross it over itself (like a X) you go back around the bottom you just made and tighten thats how you start .. take your stick, branch, log, victim whatever and start looping like in the video 3 lashings on each side and 3 times fraping pull tight every time you loop a frap and end it with a clove hitch(same as you started)!!!(clove hitch can be tricky sometimes)as it can undo your work.But if u got paracord in the woods just growing about any knot will do :)

    Explain bro 😣

  • @mannihh5274
    @mannihh5274 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When doing tutorials, please make sure, you don't talk nonsense. Your first knot isn't a clove hitch, it's a constrictors knot. If the ridge pole wasn't suspended with the tripod, your way would be a pain in the ass - better start with a (real) clove hitch around the TREE, after the first half wrap (around the pole and behind the back of the tree) the pole will be secure and not fall on your feet. The rest is fine, although three wraps IMHO is the bare minimum for a lean-to.
