Just by riding we are taking on extra risk and responsibility for our safety therefore EVERYTHING around us is our business. We need them paying attention for our sake. That's the thing about TH-cam, it's always the idiots commenting on things they have no concept of or experience in. I'll chastise these reckless drivers the moment I see them, but in that moment I want them off the road so they don't hurt me or someone I love further down the line. And for the sensitive anti-bike snowflakes that get triggered when bad behaviour is called out, I bet they'll wish someone had caught the texting driver that ends up running over their wife/dog (usually the same thing).

Once I was driving by downtown and a woman got out of the parking lot and joined the street while talking by phone, she didn't look who was passing and I could barely brake. She didn't stop even when I was honking like crazy. She cointinued driving while talking by phone like nothing was happening. Fortunatelly there was a cop who saw everything made the woman stop. I never got so mad at someone
I was passing by another car on the motorway the other day. I was in the passenger seat bored and looking at the cars passing by. The driver in the other car was texting while driving around 60mph and didn't realise what was going on in front of him. He didn't react to waving at him so I started recording him. When he realised he was being caught he slowed down, disappeared behind us for a second ,then appeared again this time swapping his phone for a chocolate bar. He tried to get out of the situatuon but I filmed it all. I hope he felt really stupid that I got him on camera with his number plates and a phone in his hand and he'll never risk getting anyone killed again.
Would really love to have a full set of 6 cameras (2 front, 2 rear, 2 left and 2 right) to capture bad driving and report to the police... People who repeatedly break the law, risking their own and (more importantly) other people's lives ought to be stripped of their license. Driving is a privilege, not a right.
I ride daily in Virginia Beach. VA in the US. And I see probably 3 of every 5 drivers either on the phone or texting or messing with their phone. In fact Sunday I had to swerve onto the shoulder because some lady came up on me doing 30 over the speed limit and would have hit me. After I swerved she didn't even look up she was using her phone so much. She got of on the same exit as me and I gave her a mouthful. Directly following my mouthful he light turned green and she cut me off. And stuff like that happens daily out here. It's scary. And I have a wife and son. Who I would like to be alive for.
As someone who knows that it's not hard to focus on the road and txt it pisses me off how many drivers - as the lady you mentioned - give a very bad name to American drivers and their reputation. And I'm not even American...

I've had several that were texting while driving. I had one lady tell me I was breaking the law by passing her - on the left while she was going ~30 in a 55 - texting none the less. I explained that if she wants to get the points on her license and a fine, we can call up the local PD, pop out the micro-sd card from my contour and play it on the laptop in my backpack. They back down quite quickly when they realize they've basically made their intellectual brilliance (or lack of) known...
You should be able to email that segment of the video with him actually using his Mobile and the number plate of the vehicle to the Police, who should then check the corresponding date and time/location of your video footage gps with the mobile provider. Then he gets a fixed penalty of £60 and 3 penalty points, and higher insurance premiums afterword. Maybe then it will make them re-think their decision on using a mobile whilst driving, the same for a god damn hands free too. It's a vehicle, not an Office.

I rode a motorcycle for 20 years. Slowing down by a vehicle is meant to get a person off their ass and around them. No one likes motorcycles behind them. When I rode, guys stayed ahead of traffic not behind or beside, like many do today.

I was hit by a truck while riding in the bicycle lane, going the same way he just had to text message and drove right into me. Now I don't bicycle, but I do honk at everyone I see texting and not driving, at least they pay attention for long enough to figure out why you are honking. Share the road!
THERE'S NO LAW RAGARDING WHERE YOUR HANDS SHOULD BE! BUT! There is a law AGAINST the use of phones while driving, bikers and drivers can use their hands for signalling but there's nothing wrong with taking ONE hand off the wheel/bars.
ya once your up to speed you really only need 1 to maneuver the bike and on straight stretches no hands but bikes dun have cruise control so you at least always have the hand with the throttle on.

Awesome! Love this :) I bike and walk a lot so I have (and thoroughly enjoy) taking the opportunity to make people think they just got caught on their phone on a regular basis. I hold up my cell and track them as if I'm recording them while talking on their phones driving through intersections, etc. Very effective ;)
First you have to record in 60 fps and then use a video converter like Sony Vegas or Go Pro Studio to output the video in 60 fps. There is a standard setting on most video production softwares.Next upload to TH-cam via your account :).
Talking on a phone in your car doesn't make you entitled. Yes, it's technically an infraction if caught by a cop, but that still doesn't mean that someone is acting entitled.

why? i ride one handed all the time because once a bike gets up to speed the front wheel is held straight by forward momentum and you can steer with one hand or even no hands because it is about center of gravity as opposed to wheel position.
The one thing to remember when viewing this video is, when a biker dies he dies for 1 of 2 reasons. He either kills him self.. or he is killed by a cager thats not paying attention. On the other hand about a dozen cagers have been killed by a biker in the entire world to date.

I don't think cycles should be on roads. They don't pay road tax and get in my way when Im driving thru the town at 60MPH to pub. I have to drive as its a quarter mile away. Im very fat, (not my fault). Im a member of the Tory party and I enjoy farting. I think that people should go to work house and not get unemployment benefit. I also love David Salmon.

Awesome! Love this :) I bike and walk a lot so I have (and thoroughly enjoy) taking the opportunity to make people think they just got caught on their phone on a regular basis. I hold up my cell and track them as if I'm recording them while talking on their phones driving through intersections, etc. Very effective ;)
Is this like 60fps? How did you do this?
First you have to record in 60 fps and then use a video converter like Sony Vegas or Go Pro Studio to output the video in 60 fps. There is a standard setting on most video production softwares.Next upload to TH-cam via your account :).

i got hit by a car while i was riding my bike going to work .. he was on his mobil ..he took off b4 i could get his rego ..so basically GET OFF THE MOBILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL , i worked for 4 days with injuries youll never believe , ignore your phone or pull over pls .. ps : i have no problem with the bikies telling him to get off the cell phone .. job well done

why? i ride one handed all the time because once a bike gets up to speed the front wheel is held straight by forward momentum and you can steer with one hand or even no hands because it is about center of gravity as opposed to wheel position.

It observes the drivers face and the tech can tell if the driver is tired, distracted or even where they are looking. It alerts the driver in a number of different ways if the tech detects fatigue or distraction. It has been tested by many fleet companies, aerospace, mining and ordinary road vehicles. In one Dubai test it reduced incidents of distracted driving or fatigue by 88%. I'd like to see this tech become more widespread, and soon. It could save lives. If fitted to this biker's helmet it would have told him he was distracted and to keep his eyes on the road.
