      Norwegian police officers are not armed. They only carry hand cuffs. And brains.....
      They're trained to stay calm and collected in situations like this.
      Using common sense to reason with drunks and other minor offendors.

    I was born in the same part of Norway this guy is from, as he's speaking with a clear Northern Norwegian accent, and Norwegians up there are (in)famous throughout the rest of Norway for their coarse language whether they're angry or not. As an example, calling someone a "Jævla hestkuk" - "Diabolical horsecock" can depending on tone of voice and body language be a grievous insult or a joyous greeting between old friends. Also there was a time where a young officer from the south was stationed up north for a couple of years and arrested a man who called him a diabolical horsecock after having been fined. In the courtroom, the man was let go (but he still had to pay his original fine) and the judge told the young officer: "If you're going to work up here, this is something you're just going to have to get used to."

      American Police can't be like this cause of their gun laws and such that there is so much guns in America. • @QuackersMcCrackers
      @QuackersMcCrackers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@denyewll3153 Yeah I feel like Chandler is in the right here. It's not so much the use of guns, but more about the culture which leads to the widespread use and indoctrination of guns in the first place. Think of it like this: Whilst it's true that Norwegian policeman don't have to worry about being shot as much as their American counterparts, and that yes, a reason for this is due to the lack of guns, someone in Norway could just as easily yield a knife, or a hammer, or perhaps acid. Take it from me, as someone from the UK, the danger is still prevalent even if the guns are not.
      To put it another way, it's not the guns that the USA policeman should be worried about, but the people that yield that' and as for the people that field them, the American police actually seem much more accountable than the citizens themselves, since their obviously the one's who are most armed, yet daily I see at least one video in my feed whereby an American policeman brutally victimizes the public they are meant to serve, and I saw several daily at the height of the protesting. Afterall, the police involved in the death of George Floyd were a group of four. Thus it is not only a few bad apples that spoil the bunch, every cop there seems rotten. They act as a group, and carry themselves like gang members, rather than as actual policeman.
      To clarify a point, however, I don't claim that every cop is bad in America, but it seems like the majority are. There are videos out there too of American cops displaying heroic acts, but unfortunately, they seem to be vastly outnumbered by the cops who are willing to victimize its own community. And whilst the cops themselves should take some of the blame, they shouldn't be blamed for it all, as their only the way they are because of the culture they were raised in when they themselves were children.

In Norway ''Du er en pudding!'', directly translated to ''You are a pudding/jelly'' is correctly translated to ''You are soft'', because that is the meaning behind the sentence, when someone calls you a ''Pudding'' in Norwegian, they don't refer to that you are actually a pudding/jelly as in the desert, but it means that you are ''soft like a pudding cup'' sort of thing. Another sentence with the same meaning behind it is if you call someone, ''Du er en blautfisk'', blaut meaning something soft or wet, often refered and used in a sentence to describe something wet, but ''Blautfisk'' is refering to a ''soft fish'', something with less substance, or ''soft''.

Most citizens out to best the cops only have emotions and a partial grasp of things they would fancy themselves expert on.

      In finland they are really nice too. Ive even gotten rides with them home from clubs or whatever when I didnt have money for a taxi, have a clean record although ive done illegal things in front of the cops but in ways which doesnt do any harm (like lighting a small bond fire in the park to keep mosquitos away). The police here think for themselves, another example is that its illegal to carry a knife in public but they most likely wont mind you having it on you as long as they dont suspect you to do any harm with it. They are really nice people who really strive to protect and serve the public, and they do a pretty damn good job at it

      +AwoudeX Cops in finland atleast are mostly seen in larger cities where all the alcoholics and junkies are. And the city is flooded with cops when clubs close. Else, a bit outside of town there are practically none. One of my friend threatened a guy with his rifle, the guy called the police but the place is so far out that the police simply answered "keep your distance". For them to get there in time if there was a shooting would take choppers and whatever, so there is pretty much the wild west, except people there usually get along.

They are smart and talk to them to try and solve the case without violence. Often they also use dogs when hunting for criminals, and they are normally not harmed even when the dogs are working.

    • @merlith4650
      @merlith4650 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      to add to this and correct the guy above. it's not Norwegian slang, although it's often used very informally in modern day, it's the old term for psychiatric hospital. the word translates literally word for word as "mental/mind" (sinn-), "sickness" (syke-), "house" (hus). the house of the mentally sick or sick minded.
      the usage of the word "sinnsyk" in Norwegian is equivalent to how the word "insane" is used in English.

      I'm sorry mate but traders weren't referred to as Vikings. They were called Danes or Norsemen but the warriors who came raiding with the dragons, eagles or whatever they had attached to the prow of their ships were there to attack and raid so were referred to as Vikings. Traders would not enter another's waters displaying beasts on the front of those most beautiful ships and were hence just northmen. It seems you are aware of some of the history of our ancestors so surely you should be aware of this distinction. Anyway, you believe what makes you happy and I will too. Enjoy your day.

      @@Wiggyam sorry, I understand there is some of this disagreement in pop culture now. I'm in my forties and not aware of it as my life revolves not around TV but studies. Why speak Norse in an English comment string. I'm Suomi. I'm speaking English. And have you considered the idea behind the raiding theory is from those being raided? The languages at the time were much different. We still wrote in runes, sung in runes and believed runes to be magic. So to look at what is said in your language now is far from the 7th century. As are the words Angles, Saxons and Britons used when the first raiders came to Lindisfarne. The word viking seems to have meant raiding then. The traders from the same areas were never referred to as vikings even if often they were the same guys. Northern ways were much different as in the proto-viking era the fights among different skandi, skandi-danka tribes over productive land made us all fighters and upon finding weak people who weren't warriors so nearby who paid tribute to a weak god seemed a gift to early raiders. Aww fuck it. Why am I explaining history for free to a stranger. I get paid to teach.
