It's both bullshit and the WA. His WA and ripostes do way more damage than they should, presumably due to the NG+ scaling algorithms, which then gets further increased by the WA motion value.

i didn't believe it... until it happened to me today. i was thinkng "man i'd like to use a greatsword and the FAUGS for this playthrough" so i aimed for the claymore and thought "well i'm also parrying a lot, i'll go for a rapier in the meanwhile." and then i get to that thrall and get the flamberge on the first kill, without even wanting it, an it even had better str/dex AR than the claymore(although not as good as properly upgraded HGS against hollows) it was meant to be.
Because they don't expect it. The thing's nobody uses often times end up being better than some of the overused items because nobody expects the (monty python reference) underrated weapons!
The tracking on the black knight glaives R2 is incredible both 1h and 2h, I’ve caught many people trying to roll into or around the side of me with that attack.
yeah I was fighting a spear fella on my black knight cosplay build and when I used the glaive I only R1 and L2, so when I finally activated the R2 he just wasn't ready for it and died
Time goes faster the older you get because the total years you've lived relative to what you potentially have left changes. when you're 10 years old each year is 10% of what you've lived wich seems a lot then. When you're 50, a year is much more insignificant and thus they pass faster.
Uh yeah that is one explanation but don't take it too seriously. It doesn't go that way for everyone, in fact my grandfather and I share an extremely slow "perception" of time. One year feels like an eternity and one day is more like a month for other people. Days go so slowly for me I feel I have time for literally everything. Of course it's not like I live in the past, I just feel things differently.

Iv played ds a LOT in the last year or 2 and realized the games are really half assed. Seems a theme of japanese games. Good presentation but shit when you look under the hood. I feel like it's an issue of putting to much power behind the single developer in the team.

About time JM. On the two characters that use the flambaegre, both took 30 minutes of farming to get. One had all discovery boosting gear, the other had none. I mostly like it because it doesn't have a sheath, fashion comes first.

i remember getting this thing on my first ever playthrough in the undead settlement, with me fully intending on a pyromancer, and now that i know the droprate of it, i sure would like to try it out, but damn i dont want to farm this XDDD
if you want to help yourself farm this weapon take everything he said and combine it with a rusted gold coin. That slight boost in discovery will help, with the CSR, SoA, CGSR, and rusted gold coins you can have 423 item discovery as a knight.

Man, I wish From kept the Flamberge's special features in Elden Ring. Now its just outclassed both as a Greatsword and as a Bleed weapon. Oh well, it won't stop me from using Bloodflame Blade Flamberge with Giant Hunt, and an off-hand Bleed Rapier!

idk about it being underrated, half of highwall twinks run it, and its got some action in the arena, and its stats outdo claymore until heavy investment in stats. but based video fam.
Never understood you twinks, game's on it's last leg and you're just bullying potential new comers out of it. Do you people actually think you're good at the game by beating inexperienced players with OP builds or is it just a "LE EP!C trolololol you MAD BRO? xD" type of thing?
I'm a PS4 player. I can't say much about the PC version, but i can assure you the PS4 scene is FAR from friendly (Definitly interesting though xD). Sure, there are genuinly kind players here too, but they're few and far between, most players i run into are either gankers, twinks or backstab fishers who just got done watching project goof and have no problem testing out their "skill" on fellow invaders during a fight. And the duelist scene is actually even worse. You've got GROWN men, some even have children and families, bickering with eachother over who's the best player and starting keyboard flamewars, throwing around insults like a bunch of 10 year olds in a black ops lobby, it's the most immature and pathetic thing i've seen in a while. As for invasions, I AM one of those guide invaders, most non sl125 invasions i do are against new/inexperienced hosts and i always try to be as helpful as i can to them, because i want them to enjoy the game as much as they can and because there's no point in fighting someone you know you'd beat. But these kinds of invasions get stale really fast, and the only other option is fighting in gank city where getting hit once by a greatsword or bigger means perma stun lock and you dying in one second to players who aren't necessarily better than you. Now for twinks, you seem to think of it as there being a clear divide between 'twinks' and hardcore twinks. Thing is, there's a huge gray area between the two, a hardcore twink doesn't necessarily mean dragonslayer axe/darkhand/ghru poison weapons etc. There are so many weapons and builds that are much stronger in lower levels that someone might not consider as twink weapons, and since blood moss clumps aren't available in highwall, a rouge buffed flamberge is one of them. So there quite a bit of thought that goes into deciding which is which. I'm not complaining about issues like gankers and twinks because i keep dying to them, as an invader myself i know that statistically speaking, i'm gonna die WAY more times than win, and i accept that. But i can't help but think about how many new players dropped this game because they didn't even get to experince it properly thanks to that one dickhead darkhand twink who bullies them out of it, and i'm so sick of only being able to play with the same exact hanful of people because of it.
Hot damn boy to I *love* the Flamberge. It’s easily my favorite greatsword besides the Drakeblood. For years I’ve used it on my SL55 Knight of Thorns cosplay build. Heck, it’s been around since before the bleed nerf. Flamberge main hand, Barbed Straight Sword offhand. Notched Whip and Painting Guardian Curved Sword on backup. All bleed infused, because I just liked the idea of synergizing infusions over having to use buffs. Like all overpowered things that get nerfed, people treat bleed like it’s worthless. But generally against my build people bleed out left and right like they’re on blood thinners. Honestly I hadn’t used the build in a while and recently went back to it, and it’s easily one of my favorite characters I’ve made again. The Flamberge is just so good. It looks super cool (which took me a while to come around to from DS1 tbh), it’s pretty long, bleed is fun, and I like weapons with unique movesets. It’s such a damn pain to farm for, though. I remember early on I got a few lucky drops so it altered my expectations, so recently when I had to farm for it again for some new builds it was torture. Blood Gems are also a massive pain to farm. So overall my Thorns build wasn’t easy, but in the end definitely worth it.

I used this weapon in ds2 a lot and thought they removed this from ds3 for the longest time. When I got it I always used it over the Claymore because I know from personal experience that bleed buildup induces panic. And panic is when your opponent plays the worst. Honestly I found a noticeable difference in how opponents played when I played Flamberge vs Claymore.
The poise slayer (Hollowslayer) should have been on the list of underrated weapons, with 60 poise (i know that's ridiculous) but i out traded EVERY weapon like ledos hammer. My friend and i were able to reaction trade with greatswords, ultras and you probably get the idea also we versed each other and didn't break each others poise so we grinded each other to death. The poise slayer also has an amazing moveset r2 pokes, stance and the stupid you roll around me you get hit 3rd hit in the r1's. *ALSO* the poise slayers poise has stupid fast start up frames unlike any other weapon and idk if this is true but i feel like it is but every r1 in the 3 r1 combo seems to have faster poise start up frames then the last. That's i hope someone reading this picks up this amazing weapon.

I was watching this video again as I farmed myself a Flamberge in the Undead Settlement. Right as he asks "How do you even get a Flamberge in the first place?", the damn thing drops. Bless you Jim and whatever mystic voodoo you employ!
Used it for a low level Hodrick cosplay over a year ago and never looked back. An absolutely amazing weapon to invade with. And at low levels the heavy gem is a good option!
hey jim. There is also one other very unique usage for the flamberge. And that is in the Demon prince fight for SL1. Demon prince, as well as both deamos in phase one have a lot of hp and are vulnerable to bleed. So if you use a heavy bleed weapon, like the bandit´s dagger, you dont do much damege if you dont proc bleed, which is tricky in phase one since it´s a gank. But if you use another weapon and buff it with carthus rouge you will very rarly get a proc. The flamberge has both, solid damege and natural bleed which is buffleble. The bonfire that leeds to the first location with the giant throwing spears at you also has a flamberge wilding enemy nearby, not sure if that one is faster but that´s the one i use. Your methodmight me a bit more consistent since you barly have to interact with enemys on the way there. Keep it up dudee
Once it took me 6 HOURS to get the Flameberge, I use it in all my builds, but in 1v1 scerarios I lean more towards the Claymore, just to the poke RT, that attack is at least for me too damn useful. But I will try to use it one handed as you suggested, I have never used it one handed, after all these years. Happy DSnniversary.

Jim ya did it again. After a few days I can definitely say the Flamberge is something I should have picked up a while ago. Frozen weapon on it Hollow infused with the Ice Rapier is dumb thicc. You can sometimes swap to a bleed infused weapon to finish them off if not dead already, but gotta be aggressive.

it's not that rare a drop and you can shoot him with a bow from a specific spot (make sure you get a headshot), then drop down to grab his loot.

I used a flamberge main hand rapier off hand in ds2 so it makes a lot of sense to do it in ds3 since im a flamberge main across all from games.

i remember getting this thing on my first ever playthrough in the undead settlement, with me fully intending on a pyromancer, and now that i know the droprate of it, i sure would like to try it out, but damn i dont want to farm this XDDD
if you want to help yourself farm this weapon take everything he said and combine it with a rusted gold coin. That slight boost in discovery will help, with the CSR, SoA, CGSR, and rusted gold coins you can have 423 item discovery as a knight.

Man, I wish From kept the Flamberge's special features in Elden Ring. Now its just outclassed both as a Greatsword and as a Bleed weapon. Oh well, it won't stop me from using Bloodflame Blade Flamberge with Giant Hunt, and an off-hand Bleed Rapier!

I remember my first playthrough, this was my favorite weapon and I got it on my first chance in undead settlement. Such a great weapon to go through the game with.
idk about it being underrated, half of highwall twinks run it, and its got some action in the arena, and its stats outdo claymore until heavy investment in stats. but based video fam.
Never understood you twinks, game's on it's last leg and you're just bullying potential new comers out of it. Do you people actually think you're good at the game by beating inexperienced players with OP builds or is it just a "LE EP!C trolololol you MAD BRO? xD" type of thing?
I'm a PS4 player. I can't say much about the PC version, but i can assure you the PS4 scene is FAR from friendly (Definitly interesting though xD). Sure, there are genuinly kind players here too, but they're few and far between, most players i run into are either gankers, twinks or backstab fishers who just got done watching project goof and have no problem testing out their "skill" on fellow invaders during a fight. And the duelist scene is actually even worse. You've got GROWN men, some even have children and families, bickering with eachother over who's the best player and starting keyboard flamewars, throwing around insults like a bunch of 10 year olds in a black ops lobby, it's the most immature and pathetic thing i've seen in a while.
As for invasions, I AM one of those guide invaders, most non sl125 invasions i do are against new/inexperienced hosts and i always try to be as helpful as i can to them, because i want them to enjoy the game as much as they can and because there's no point in fighting someone you know you'd beat. But these kinds of invasions get stale really fast, and the only other option is fighting in gank city where getting hit once by a greatsword or bigger means perma stun lock and you dying in one second to players who aren't necessarily better than you.
Now for twinks, you seem to think of it as there being a clear divide between 'twinks' and hardcore twinks. Thing is, there's a huge gray area between the two, a hardcore twink doesn't necessarily mean dragonslayer axe/darkhand/ghru poison weapons etc. There are so many weapons and builds that are much stronger in lower levels that someone might not consider as twink weapons, and since blood moss clumps aren't available in highwall, a rouge buffed flamberge is one of them. So there quite a bit of thought that goes into deciding which is which.
I'm not complaining about issues like gankers and twinks because i keep dying to them, as an invader myself i know that statistically speaking, i'm gonna die WAY more times than win, and i accept that. But i can't help but think about how many new players dropped this game because they didn't even get to experince it properly thanks to that one dickhead darkhand twink who bullies them out of it, and i'm so sick of only being able to play with the same exact hanful of people because of it.

Hot damn boy to I *love* the Flamberge. It’s easily my favorite greatsword besides the Drakeblood.
For years I’ve used it on my SL55 Knight of Thorns cosplay build. Heck, it’s been around since before the bleed nerf. Flamberge main hand, Barbed Straight Sword offhand. Notched Whip and Painting Guardian Curved Sword on backup. All bleed infused, because I just liked the idea of synergizing infusions over having to use buffs.
Like all overpowered things that get nerfed, people treat bleed like it’s worthless. But generally against my build people bleed out left and right like they’re on blood thinners.
Honestly I hadn’t used the build in a while and recently went back to it, and it’s easily one of my favorite characters I’ve made again.
The Flamberge is just so good. It looks super cool (which took me a while to come around to from DS1 tbh), it’s pretty long, bleed is fun, and I like weapons with unique movesets.
It’s such a damn pain to farm for, though. I remember early on I got a few lucky drops so it altered my expectations, so recently when I had to farm for it again for some new builds it was torture. Blood Gems are also a massive pain to farm. So overall my Thorns build wasn’t easy, but in the end definitely worth it.

I used this weapon in ds2 a lot and thought they removed this from ds3 for the longest time. When I got it I always used it over the Claymore because I know from personal experience that bleed buildup induces panic. And panic is when your opponent plays the worst.
Honestly I found a noticeable difference in how opponents played when I played Flamberge vs Claymore.

Bruh, this was so wholesome and has me wishing that it wasn't such a rare drop so I could use it for a ds3 playthrough
The poise slayer (Hollowslayer) should have been on the list of underrated weapons, with 60 poise (i know that's ridiculous) but i out traded EVERY weapon like ledos hammer. My friend and i were able to reaction trade with greatswords, ultras and you probably get the idea also we versed each other and didn't break each others poise so we grinded each other to death. The poise slayer also has an amazing moveset r2 pokes, stance and the stupid you roll around me you get hit 3rd hit in the r1's. *ALSO* the poise slayers poise has stupid fast start up frames unlike any other weapon and idk if this is true but i feel like it is but every r1 in the 3 r1 combo seems to have faster poise start up frames then the last. That's i hope someone reading this picks up this amazing weapon.

Used it for a low level Hodrick cosplay over a year ago and never looked back. An absolutely amazing weapon to invade with. And at low levels the heavy gem is a good option!

hey jim. There is also one other very unique usage for the flamberge. And that is in the Demon prince fight for SL1. Demon prince, as well as both deamos in phase one have a lot of hp and are vulnerable to bleed. So if you use a heavy bleed weapon, like the bandit´s dagger, you dont do much damege if you dont proc bleed, which is tricky in phase one since it´s a gank. But if you use another weapon and buff it with carthus rouge you will very rarly get a proc.
The flamberge has both, solid damege and natural bleed which is buffleble.
The bonfire that leeds to the first location with the giant throwing spears at you also has a flamberge wilding enemy nearby, not sure if that one is faster but that´s the one i use. Your methodmight me a bit more consistent since you barly have to interact with enemys on the way there.

Once it took me 6 HOURS to get the Flameberge, I use it in all my builds, but in 1v1 scerarios I lean more towards the Claymore, just to the poke RT, that attack is at least for me too damn useful. But I will try to use it one handed as you suggested, I have never used it one handed, after all these years. Happy DSnniversary.

Jim ya did it again. After a few days I can definitely say the Flamberge is something I should have picked up a while ago. Frozen weapon on it Hollow infused with the Ice Rapier is dumb thicc. You can sometimes swap to a bleed infused weapon to finish them off if not dead already, but gotta be aggressive.
