what i like is how you can hear the guitar slides in the acoustic, they made this album where everything is real as it can get, no fake effect tool or audio tools. Badass
@King Greed I saw Killswitch I'm pretty sure it was right before Howard left and he was amazing but I've seen Trivium three times and they've never disappointed
I've been a Trivium fan from the beginning and I fucking love this album. Does every song have tons of screaming? No. Does it need it? Fuck no. There will never be another Shogun however.
Wow didn't expect an answer. I'd say TSATS because of the broader styles, better vocals and just the excellence of every song. Your point still stands, it wasn't another Shogun.
People need to appreciate each album and stop complaining, each album is different and they bring what they did to their previous album and add something new to the new album. Thats what makes Trivium great because every album is different. Sure somebody will like one album more than the other but non the less each album is great.
To be honest as good as Trivium is in previous albums, I really like this album. I really like how they've kept some aspects of old Triv. to this new stuff for instance the screaming parts add some flare instead of screaming the majority of the song. Love it or hate it I like it. Reminds me of Bullet for my Valentine's "The Poison" album. (even though the two arn't in the same genre)
@@kaegee2579 true, I was just specifying his error in saying they aren’t from the same genres. Trivium isn’t really a traditional metalcore band, though. That’s probably why they sound soo different. Also, bullet is more emo
@@speediablo Ah, I see. And yeah, you're right. Trivium can fit into a few different categories such as thrash and prog. Although I wouldn't call BFMV emo, they'd have a much easier time fitting in with that crowd than some groups, including Trivium.
I'm beating myself up for skipping this album. This year they rose to my top 5 favorite bands ever! And this song? Definitely my favorite off Vengeance Falls. :)
Most of the time, bands that take risks in change of style from album to album, tend to be the better skilled and more articulate. Bands that do not want or refuse to adapt and change tend to die out. I respect the fact that they are willing to risk change from album to album.
Could I just read the comments on a Trivium video without seeing people whining about their change of sound for once? I swear, people will complain about the slightest change in a band. You people act like they don't even sound like Trivium anymore.
It's not slight going from shogun, they said themselves they'd found and refined their sound as a band, to this and in waves, a big difference and I feel it's heavily to do with the drummer
Yeah man! They definitely have changed their sound. But what the hell? The are as awesome as always. Bands develop, they find something they like as they go and they change. I know that bands make music for fans, but hey, they make it for themselves as well. They play what they like and hope that they will find a crows that like what they making. It is pop scene that makes music that the crowd likes and they don't care if they themselves like music they make or not. That's they major difference between pop music and Metal. Metal is true, not as much for fame and money as for doing what they like. Well, of course everyone needs money as well. Otherwise, how would they release their work to the crowd? I think people should be more tolerant to changes that bands make. Trivium is awesome.
Blo0dredRidingHo0d It's more to do with Dave Draiman from disturbed. You can feel and see his vocal influence he had when he produced the album. I think it's fantastic, I still love Trivium's old stuff as well though.
I love the vocal layering they did on this album, at 1:02 for instance. Instead of just screaming everything it adds depth to it. Also, coming back to VF after SITS, this seems super heavy now
Everyone is soooooo critical of the way he is singing but I would like all of you to try screaming for how long matt has and we will see that you cant critisize.
Alex wasnt the drummer for this one, but the style of this drummer present on the album is great! Also, Alex is a fucking legend. Hope they never ever lose him.
Listening to this whole album again, trying to give it a chance and it just occurred to me how much the screamed parts play a role in how I feel about the album. Without screamed parts the lyrics just go in one of my ears and out the other because there isn't much variation in the vocals. Not that Matt's vocals are bad, they just get boring in my opinion without enough diversity in the songs. I liked this song a lot more than some of the first few on the album, even with the very little screaming. The cleans would get boring since they're so consistent and the monotonous chugging on some of the songs doesn't help. A lot of the choruses sound similar in style too, something I've heard a million times from other bands as well. Overall this still doesn't hold a candle to the kind of diversity and technicality that was in Shogun, but that's just my opinion. The album isn't bad, it just doesn't fit what I like to hear for the most part.
This song and What if I was nothing by All that Remains have the same sounding intro, only just noticed XD It's the exact same key that Matt Heafy and Phillip Labonte sing
You don't get it. Yes, this album sounds different to the other ones, but every album has its own sound.. I personally like Matt's singing (and I also like the old stuff). You can hear that he improved it and even if Draiman helped him doing that is this his way to sing!
In some songs a little faster, some slower, but even the vocals haven't changed that much, lyrics as heavy if not heavier, but not as much screaming, still trivium
Well, you either like it or you don't. It's not like you have to justify why you do or don't. Are you saying that people secretly like it as much as some other Trivium albums? To me VF is a good album, certainly better than In Waves, but it doesn't have the same power as Ascendancy, The Crusade or Shogun.
This album has the same (little) "amount" of screaming as The Cruzade, so no, Trivium not always had screaming, and therefore, they don´t actually NEED IT at all. Screaming is just a good way of expressing yourself in music, but it´s not absolutely essential for a band like Trivium at all.
-_- no, no it does not sound like disturbed. Disturbed has a completely different style, Draiman helped produce the album, but as he is a vocalist he only helped mat, the music is completely untouched by disturbed, at some songs mat uses very similiar vocal techniques as draiman, but his voice still has a completely different sound.
mod2vids4u Perhaps, but Mike has made some of the most memorable drumbeats in metal history. Hell, I'd even put the Down With The Sickness drumbeat number one on my most memorable drumbeat list.
I think this is the best song on this album but they sadly dropped almost all of their screaming :( ...I think during the riff from 0:51 to 1:11 some screaming would be a Blast ! :)
THANK YOU!!! I mean if every1 wants to get really pick about what/who they "sound like", then Ember & Ascendancy sound like a heavier Atreyu, and the Crusade & Shogun "sound like" metallica/Megadeth/ Dave Mustaine.... Hows about Trivium SOUNDS LIKE fucking TRivium
imo this is a lot like Metallica's load as there fans didn't like what they did. in this instance it sounds like disturbed. but you must remember the musical talent in this album
what i like is how you can hear the guitar slides in the acoustic, they made this album where everything is real as it can get, no fake effect tool or audio tools. Badass
What is realistic about sloppy noises? People used to try and avoid making steel strong noises. What if he used nylon? Would it be fake then?
@@MrBearyMcBearface who cares

Mardok Laing i'm torn between scylla and charybdis :P
***** there all really good so its hard to choose
i personally didn't like the album, i think it's too disturbing :p
Then stop watching it on you tube :p
Man I went to Killswitch Engage concert and Trivium were opening. They were so much better than killswitch live.
James Brabham Killswitch Engage is better than Trivium. Get fucking real
@@Nickr3000 since Killswitch lost Howard they are no where near trivium even with Howard they weren't the better band

@King Greed I saw Killswitch I'm pretty sure it was right before Howard left and he was amazing but I've seen Trivium three times and they've never disappointed
I saw trivium twice during the shogun cycle. Loved it. Saw killswitch as well during the Daylight dies cycle. Both bands killed it.
This band is pure love to me since more than 20 years and guided me through so much dirt, pain and good times! 🖤
Found these guys off a Lamb of God sidelink, and I gotta say, I am HOOKED! Been listening to this album all day, multiple times. Gotta soak it all in.
Listen to their other albums, they are just as good as this one
wait till you hear Shogun
