This is honestly the song that got me into trivium which then plunged me into music where screaming took up 80% of the song. The guitar work has always been exceptional and that is undeniable per person per album (the community is split between heavier lighter). I listened to this band exclusively from sophmore year until after senior. This is all id fuck with and it changed my life. 3 years after senior year i am fairly serious considering getting a Trvium tattoo. Love this band to the grave and we'll take thier fucking heads.
Vengeance Falls almost sounds like the name of a town or city in a video game. Except it's residents are the spirits of the Damned who seek revenge on those who killed them in their previous life or something.
Lets say its a scifi game, theme it on revenge and lets give it a nice hard rated M. Toss in a disfigured character with some dark qualities to him, a dab of betrayal, and sprinkle on some of that super cyborg shit , and drop it all in a dystopian society with mutants, robots, and a puritan style religous order who wants to cleanse everything in fire.
Catchy as hell song, I'm loving the new album so far, although I can't help but notice how this song has exactly the same structure as brave this storm
Matt sounds just as badass in his clean vocals in this wicked track. :) VENGEANCE FALLS!!! Oh man that was my favorite part of the song when he just growls them out. :)
the good thing about trivium as a heavy metal band is that they know when to use the death growl voice, too many other bands grossly over use it but trivium knows how to do their shit
Almost all metalbands are Good...cuz they Worshipped the Greatest Music in the Universe...if you wont agree with that, that means you clearly arent a Metalhead \m/
Those who say this is similar to disturbed had probably never compared at least two albums from both bands. This has nothing to do with the original sound of Disturbed. I've been following Trivium since its beginnings and think that this album is a gold masterpiece.
People say it has a Disturbed sound to it because Draiman helped them with this album. He held a heavy influence, and I have to say, you can obviously hear it. I like the album none-the-less, but you can't deny that fact.
I have, in fact, listened to a lot of Disturbed. That's why I can hear the influence in Matt's vocals and the rhythm in their guitar and drums. The way he sings "Vengeance Falls" is very much the way Draiman would, because he produced the entire album. Of course it isn't going to sound 100% the same, because the singers sound nothing alike. I really don't know how you can't hear it if you have a preference for Disturbed.
How much influence does a producer have in actually writing the music? I'm legitimately curious because it sounds like they actually let Draiman write some of the vocal melodies. I don't think the Draiman influence is as heavy as people say though. The only noticeable influence here seems to be on the vocal melodies and a bit of the structure of the songs as well.
i agree, altough draiman did not write any of the lyrics to my knowledge, this was supposed to be triviums "dark" album, so the lyrics are, ofcourse a litle more sinister which can give the apearance of draiman having an influence
It really depends on the band. Some producers focus completely on the audio engineering aspect of recording the band and are simply there to literally produce the sounds that the band wants to record with (see: Andy Sneap). Other producers fancy themselves as temporary band members and do more coaching than they should (see: Bob Rock). What most producers wind up doing is pushing the band to record themselves at their current best, whatever that is (see: Adam Dutkiewicz). In every recording documentary you've ever seen, bands present this image that they have total 100% creative control over their music and its production. What these documentaries don't show is the day-long board meeting between them and the Record Label that occurred beforehand, with the executives basically giving them a very short list of available producers, locations to record, expectations for the album, and not-so-subtle suggestions to improve the marketability of their sound. Very few bands these days are able to self-produce their records (i.e. Dream Theater and Killswitch Engage), but for the bands that do, I think there is a huge difference in the overall creative outcome.
This is the song that got me into Trivium. This whole album is really good imo. However, it doesn't beat Shogun, which is truly Trivium's masterpiece, and my favorite album of all time along with A7X's Waking the Fallen.
I fail to see how people saying that they sound like Disturbed is an insult. Disturbed is an amazing band. With as much music around as there is now you are going to sound like somebody, and i think Disturbed is a pretty good choice.
I will never understand why Trivium never plays this song in a live setting. I just don't get it, not at all. This song is SO great, a big highlight. How can they not see the picture I see when I am listening to this song? A big crowd in front of the stage screaming and singing and shouting the epic chorus that sounds almost like a warcry. And they shout it towards the stage, as if that is where the enemy's troops lie. I cannot understand why they don't play this song live. That is a big pity.
DeanGuitarsForLife! I recon all albums but in waves are awesome, in their own style. It's just that the album needed some more speed to the guitar and drums. A but more like vengeance falls. So yeah :D
***** What you are really saying: I like these albums better, and since my opinion is the best one in the world, you are wrong. Dude... Don't be a music racist, lol.
@@JohnnyInJapan tbf it’s a great album. Post Alex bent trivium is goated tho. Those albums are single handedly better then anything else they’ve put out.
Nobody is ever going to be happy with any album or song. Its just a given.... If you vibe with it you vibe with it. Doesn't matter what anyone else says. It boils down to the individual.
i'm making my previews for graspop metal meeting in Belgium, i've never seen this band before, but i really like this album can't wait to see them live
Draiman worked in Matt's clean vocals, what made that album sound more heavy than their early sound. Their riffs also sound more simple and slower than everything before "In Waves", but it started in "In Waves", and followed in "Vengeance falls". Look guys, stop blaming Disturbed, because Trivium has a mountain of bands that influenced them and sounding less Thrash metal and more Heavy metal or even metalcore, was their choice, not Draiman's fault. By the way, this album is amazing, not their best, but still great. Ps: sorry for my bad english.
Saw them almost 2 years ago live with veil of maya and In Flames. Met them. Talked with Paolo. I have respect for this band. Loved them for years, saw them live, never thought I would be able to do that. And met and got to know one of them? I officially can do anything now. So much growth over the past couple years. I will always be a proud fan of theirs. ALWAYS. Real People, Real Music, Real talent. Cannot wait until I get this CD :)
This is one of my favorite trivium albums top 4 for sure, I love the energy, writing, riffs, and the signing is awesome. Solid solos too. So underrated it’s criminal
I learned the hard way years ago that if a fan cannot keep an open mind while a band expands and grows they are doomed to dislike the new material. The disturbed influence doesn't bother me. Disturbed never really evolved. Their material all began to sound the same. The fact that Trivium has been able to do just that with the help of Draiman is ok I guess although I would have rather it have been on their own. I met these guys two years back and they definitely still have my ear.
I personally liked the album, eventhough it's definitely not their best. Things I didn't like about the Album: Alot of Songs felt "too Standard", aka 4 minute ABABCB-songs. And I'm not that big of a fan of Nick's (he's gone anyways) drumming, I mean, he's a good drummer, but sometimes it just feels like he wants to show everyone how fast he can play (At the End of this War, 2nd verse as an example). Things I liked: Clean vocals feel "stronger" now, chorus-writing feels better, lyrics are a bit more powerful and some parts are just beautiful.
I read a cool study that said heavy metal has the 2nd highest vocabulary in music. I could probably find it again if anyone is interested. the winner was hip hop.
I may be going to see them when they come to PA with Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Cannibal Corpse, Miss May I, and Asking Alexandria! Really hoping I can get the tickets!
Just got into Trivium, they are simply AMAZING

Ignis King So... Basically Fallout? Lol
I was thinking Skyrim or something.
I'd love to see that giant robot in the album cover as the final boss
Catchy as hell song, I'm loving the new album so far, although I can't help but notice how this song has exactly the same structure as brave this storm
Metal heads are the biggest critics in the music industry.
Exactly, makes it so painful to find any new metal music to listen to
Rap and hippie hop ain't shit same beats. Oh shit shit Titi titi dick same bullshit every time
That's probably because we know what good music actually is.

Ok bud @@vantablack3831
This song is SUCH a fucking jam. It's so catchy on every level and gets me fucking amped up.
I agree man, just makes you happy listening to them. Good on them for overcoming the problems they have faced over the years

Matt sounds just as badass in his clean vocals in this wicked track. :)

@@mapuiafanai5615 that's a bit of a stretch there are plenty of metal bands that are unoriginal and suck outside a studio.

Agreed
I love this song! I'm also digging the album cover. It reminds me of the Reapers from Mass Effect.
Considering that Matt is a gamer, I wouldn't be surprised if that was an inspiration.
+Samuel Rondón Acevedo (Samkiud) Matt seems like a general purpose badass.
+Dark Jedi Mass Effect+Trivium=ORGASM
could be fun to have some song of trivium in mass effect ^^
Kinda look like massive Sentinels from Halo.
This album is great to listen to when working out.
Who cares what some of these comments say, the like to dislike ratio speaks for itself. Kickass song and album, keep going Trivium!

No, this has similar style to a Disturbed song. Can definitely hear Draiman here. Rhythms similar too.

Gold0Flames If you watch the Documentary it's all Matt, but Draiman definitely pushed him to his limits.
i think its obvious draiman was a vocal coach for matt
Well the producer has the money. You dont do what he says you dont have the money.

I saw these guys in concert and got their autographs, they were amazing!!!!
they're great guys, I've never met them but had little chats on social media.
This song has a very powerful, militaristic chorus! Probably one of the best choruses from Trivium!
The chorus is sweet at full blast
Really starting to like this album.

CYellowan still not even close to the epicness that was shogun

One of the albums best solos!
It took me a few listens but this song has definitely become my favorite song on the new album. Hot damn they've improved dramatically!!
Still jam this...totally badass !!!
Matt has some great clean vocals! I personally like his screaming better!
That intro ... Holy fuck !
Um...nothing special. Very simple. Not that heavy. The song's pretty good, but still.
the best part for me however ... 2.36 , that riff ... acceleration folowed by the solo ...soo briliant
+thevoicesarereal666 lol says bad & good things such a hypocrite 😂
This song has the most beautiful chorus. While Strife might have been the better musical piece, Vengeance Falls has lovely lyrics.
Just... wonderful. My God. ♥
One of my fav Trivium songs

But this sure is better than In Waves.

So glad I have tickets to the Trivium DevilDriver concert this December. a shame it had to get pushed back a couple months, but it is what it is..

Agreed. In Waves was good for what it was but it was no Ascendancy. This however, is mind blowing. Good to see em back on the ball!
This music is awesome, this CD is awesome, this band is awesome! OMG! But, the better music of this CD still being, in my opinion, "Strife".
