LYRICS
I can feel it aching within
Every bone inside me
I can feel it breaking out
Retaliation: released
I need to cause the evil-doers' suffering
Can't wait to choke the life out from your baneful bodies
If only I could afflict you
Hurt you in the same way that you hurt
I just want to exact reprisal
Retribution calls
The only way I depict you
Is that your redemption's undeserved
Meet the vessel of your reprisal
Retribution calls
It's not that I take life forgranted
It's only that the good won't make it
Innocence dies
While villainy thrives
How can you harm a living thing, thinking that it's your right?
How can you defile a life
Deprive it of innocence?
For too long you have gotten away with murder
A fitting justice would be your painful execution
I want to ruin the rapist
Punish the criminal
Violate the abuser
End the murderer - เพลง
“It’s not that I take life for granted, it’s only that the good won’t make it, innocence dies, while villainy thrives.” Truly amazing lyrics
Absolutely, and with the out of control crime these days it's very fitting.
Yup. It's fucking sad that, that's REALLY the way that it actually works, huh? How,, "The innocent always dies, and the Tyranny ALWAYS survives." Like, that shits fucking B.S isn't it!?
Yeah, isn't that absolutely B.S that, that's REALLY the way it actually works!? How, "The innocent always dies and how the Tyranny ALWAYS survives." Like, if that isn't fucking B.S then IDK what is!!
This is a really good example of how the emphasis on clean singing in Trivium's last few albums is really a good thing. All the screaming here is reserved for the most aggressive lyrics in the song, which really gives it a greater impact than if there had been screaming all throughout.
I don't think fans of Ascendancy, Ember would understand this and would prefer Matt to roar all throughout the song
Now this explains why I find "Wake (The End is Nigh)" and "No Way To Heal" to be way more intense than their all-screaming tracks like Chaos Reigns & Skyline
alot more character this way
@@boatshift Its all an art form. No one will support an artist who paints the same picture or with slight alterations. Its the same in music. These guys just want constant screams. While it can be enjoyable, its not very creative. That's why I don't enjoy death score very much.
@@mr.sidecomments9278 they are closed minded. They are not trivium fans. They are shogun/ascendancy fans.
massively underrated trivium song, hope they play this on the new album cycle
lyrics are awesome. "innocence dies as villainy thrives" and the guitars sound BEAUTIFUL, like holy shit
Blake Herschell im hoping that was a joke, cuz that was terrible XD
Blake Herschell you deserve a pizza bruh
***** I feel like when they said that the bombing their oil foundries wasnt hurting them, they were just lying. i mean really, that gave them a daily revenue of at least $1-2000000 a day
Agreed!
Andrew Beaudin great song to torture Gitmo inmates with.
Trivium writes what the fuck they want. And you will like it or find another video to watch.
Someone has seen the documentary...
this is what the punisher listens to every morning lol
Jay Z 😂😂
what does Beyonce listen to?
@@jaycap5974 who is beyonce?
@@memyselfandi.5822 Beyonce is a false profit
not really they are saying villainy is thriving that fucker killed a whole cartel, that isnt thriving at all
Why do people ignore that bands like this write music they want to write? It'll always be Trivium because it's what they wanted, regardless of producer. Watch the documentary of this album. It gives good insight.
The vocal style is the only thing on the album that is influenced by the lead singer from Disturbed only because he produced the album. Truth is he made Matt a better singer and the album sounds excellent. Trivium and the production are great on this album period. ...now everyone calm down.
It sounds like he was going in that direction with vocals, but with a twist. (In a good way)
Viv Varghese "emo" and "lovey" usually don't go together in that context in a sentance like this,if you're going to speak with salt pouring form your mouth, atleast make up your mind as to what you wish to say through all the salt.
cobraglatiator Not the conventional genre of emo I quite literally mean emotional. Songs like Stricken? Those lyrics make my body cringe.
Viv Varghese and what exactly is a cringe? oh i know the action but, when used like "make my day." i,can't help but be confused. ; )
Rican GuitarGod
Disturbed vocals float around this album, but are only prominent on this, Brave this Storm, and a couple of the lesser songs on this Album. In truth, working with Heafy probably made Draiman less of a self-absorbed piece of shit.
I like that there isn't alot of screaming in this song. I think that it gives the lyrics he does scream more impact.
This is the theme song for the world today. Period.
amazing song. Respect to Draiman!
Damn, this is incredible, first trivium song I've heard
Ozzy Weinreb mine was strife
@@Onyxthefem same here
Really?! Guys!
@@suckit0007 let them be. Mine was the rising lol
Mine is beyond oblivion
This is madness! So FUCKING awesome! (Personal opinion) This is Trivium's best album. Not because I'm a Disturbed fan boy, but because they reduced the screaming. Matt's voice when clean is awesome! And with David's help, (see the documentary) Matt improved his vocal talents and now he can sing like he never could before. Trivium is still the same badass it was before, with a small Disturbed nitro-injection.
I agree.
What part of PERSONAL OPINION do you not understand?
i agree 85 percent to Roger Dillinger, the other fifteen? i love the the screaming, down from the sky? aswesome stuff :D END THE WARS!!
Sure many agree.
This Matt and the Matt from A7X are my favorite singers xD I like Matt A7X better though, but I love this Matts voice because it sounds like James Hetfeild+ David Draiman
Saw Trivium at Hampton Beach, NH years ago. Although they didn't play this tune, which is my favorite by them, they were excellent live! In Waves was performed superbly! Definitely a great live band! I am astounded at the hangar they bought and renovated and wish more bands took initiative to recording their albums like they did! At least Obituary took note and it shows in their recordings!!
These guys make the kind of music I have grown to enjoy.
I wish more of the fan base could appreciate how far Matt’s singing ability has come. This is much better than the singing on Ascendancy, the one that gets all the hype. I mean don’t get me wrong, his singing is good there too, but it sounds more “teenager like” while here he just sounds epic and masculine imo. And instrumentally I feel like this album isn’t even that different from their earlier works, it’s still Trivium being themselves, they just tend to make each album with its own unique “feel” so that their discography doesn’t feel stale. There’s still plenty of riffage, groove, melody, and heart to be found on this album.
This song makes me think of the Punisher.
This would probably be my favorite song in this album.
It's definitely up there on the list. I really like "Incineration: The Broken World" too.
Strife is the amazing...
No way to heal
I cant choose one
Well this song inspired me to write a new song myself, that didn't happen in a while. That alone says how good this song is.
No idea why everybody moaning? Sounds like the Trivium everyone loves and knows.
I disagree... Just find out about this album and I already feal that the sound is a bit more redounded in confront to the past, growls is slowly disappearing in the background (at least in most of the songs) and the overall singing style kind of remains me of Drawing Pool, Disturbed and such. It doesn't make it bad, at all! I'm actually enjoying the album so far, but it's not what I was expecting to hear from Trivium, that's for sure!
ADE Marc Alexander Yh i suppose. I agree that it wasn't what i was expecting but I keep finding myself playing this album everyday.
***** No it didn't...
Both amazing tracks.
ChubbyTheEwok Well strife is a nice track but im not a fan of this new album. Simon was referring to the sound, not the enjoyment/quality and strife is far different from Pillars of Serpants
Honestly such an incredible solo!
Wow, the lyrics are spot on during these insane times.
Just found this band, loving it so far. I love the Thrash metal.
+Jonathan Lerch they^re not thrash anymore.... SAD BUT TRUE but this song its a fking masterpiece
while they have thrash influences, they are metalcore. it's an awesome band, though
+King Jason I know i'm late but if you're into Thrash you should check out Trivium's "The Crusade" and "Shogun".
The Crusade has a lot of thrashy riffs while Shogun is their absolute Masterpiece imo. Perfect Mix of Metalcore, Thrash and even some Melodic Death Metal.
Yeah, I'll have to check it out man. Tess d'Urberville
shogun is the master of puppets of trivium
"I want to ruin the rapist
Punish the criminal
Violate the abuser
End the murderer"
Fucking heavy lyrics. Matt was clearly upset about the time he got jumped.
They are the culmination of whole song which rough throughout.
When did he get jumped?
panteraslipknot200
Not actually sure. But its some time while IN waves touring cycle. He talks about it in documentary.
that was a smooth ass solo
it's 2020 and it's still my favorite Trivium song after all these years. It's a masterpiece in my eyes!
One of the better songs on the album :D
No way to heal, strife and villainy thrives my top 3
Roberto Cahuevos strife was my first Trivium song
What is so bad about the influence David had on Matt? I like it! The harmonics and melodies have improved greatly. You can't tell me the whole breakdown section isn't heavy enough for you.
I decided to listen to this song because it perfectly describes what I felt towards the villains in a series I just watched.
It's honestly not far from reality if you live in a big city.
I want to ruin the rapist
Punish the Criminal
Violate the abuser
End the Murderer
Favorite part of the song right there. this is easily my favorite song from this kickass album
The lyrics are usually pretty tight on Trivium songs.
Omnimon101 Punisher: “This man spittin”
Wow, I'm impressed, not only are they a kick-ass band, but also stand for good things... I know it's late I would vote Keify Kayleigh 2020
I remember from the Making of Vengeance Falls documentary they did David Draiman says, probably referencing these exact lyrics, "the kid's angry" meaning Matt and Matt's kinda made no secret about the fact that Vengeance Falls was a way for them to therapeutically deal with these negative emotions and thoughts
In this song you can definitely hear David's influence on Matt's vocals, it sounds great
Funny thing, when I first heard this on Octane (Sirius XM) I thought this would be a good song for the game Mass Effect 3, then I went on here and saw the album artwork and it resembles somewhat the Mass Effect 3 Reapers. Still a great song and it goes with Mass Effect which makes it even better....
you're god damn right it goes with mass effect. Love that game and this band
Gabe Jiminez id have to agree with the whole mass effect thing epic series
Spartan536 yep i thought the same thing.
Just heard it today on Octane :)
Honestly, you have to play trivium whilst slaying brutes and banshees
I don't give a shit who their new album sounds like.. it's decent metal so I'll listen to it.. end of story
Peter Coe I cant say it better
I adore this song. SO UNDERRATED IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY...
Favorite song off the album, can't wait for them to come back to town! The Crusade and In Waves tours were kickass!
Love the off-beat double bass drums on this song. Don't hear that a lot in metal.
Ok, I can hear the Disturbed vibes in this album but I think it goes good with Trivium. I don't think it hurts them and it makes for an album that I wouldn't mind owning in my collection. So I don't see why everyone hates it. This is coming from a die hard fan of In Waves, Ascendancy, and Silence In The Snow. So yeah.
Vengeance Falls is a great album 😁
The way I think already put to music.
***** - You're not alone.
Easily the best song on the album by far. The change in vocal pitch accentuates the emotions behind the song very well. Also the climax is right on time. I highly anticipated this album and was sorely disappointed. I almost gave up hope on Trivium but this song and through blood dirt and bones saved me lol
From what i have heard from this album so far, its their best album! :)
Ascendancy will always be their best album.
xxMisterJxx Nope, Shogun.
cusack815 Definitely. Ascendancy was the most generic thing they have written.
I own both and they are both good
:o FINALLY! Someone else who hears Trivium when they listen to Trivium albums! THANK YOU! I'M NOT COMPLETELY INSANE!
Absolutely love this song. Great lyrics, awesome drums, and killer guitars.
There's something about the chorus that makes me feel nostalgic.
Yes.
it's something
Joe XXII It's something indeed.
Steve O It makes me remember my teenage years. Maybe because of the type of stuff I listened to back then. Can't put my finger on it lol.
Cathal Cleary it sounds like 90's hetfield
This song resonates within my soul. IT IS RESONATING!
\m/ Trivium \m/
Favourite song off the album.
I was late on accepting this cd, but I finally gave in and bought it!!!! Yet again I am a believer... and a huge fan... GOOD JOB, TRIVIUM!!!!!
Trivium is badass.......the drums in "falling to grey"....nothing compares
This break down is up there with down from the sky like two of my fave breaks:)
I dont care what other ppl said. I love this album
I like artists who reserve the screams for then most powerful parts of the song. When they do that and have the majority of th song be clean vocals it allows the singer to really earn those screams.
I thought as soon as i scrolled down i'd see a david draiman comment, i was right!
I bet you anything that if no one knew that Draiman had produced the album, NO ONE would make the connection. People just like to hate...
i didn't know draiman was the producer and it reminded me of disturbed, so you lost that bet
I was saying this sounded very much like David Draiman before I learned he had anything to do with this.
Bacon22122 Congrad fucking lations.
GNR221 Thanks :)
The hate may be undeserved, but if you can't hear the massive fucking disturbed influence on this album from working with Draiman you're fucking tone-deaf. I actually didn't know he had produced it when I first listened to the album, heard the resemblance so strongly that I looked it up to see if anyone from Disturbed was involved somehow. Lo and behold, I was right. I actually like the album a lot, but Draiman's hand should be plain to see for anyone listening.
I love these guys with a passion one of my favourite bands but your right sounds very like disturbed a little but we all get inspiration from somewhere
Alot of credit goes to David Draiman of Disturbed for producing this record and helping Matt heafy reach another octive that he wasnt capable of prier to this recording session. Matt did it all but Dave was like a vocal coach
I had never heard of this band or anything. I usually don't listen to anything but some of my favorite bands but this is excellent!
If only I could hurt you in the same way that you hurt. Great lyricsBrilliant wishlist
Favourite song by far on this album
Super cool dudes when I met them at Mayhem Fest a few years ago in Atlanta. Very happy to see them evolve and continue to produce quality music without abandoning their core song writing styles. There is hope for metal going into the future.
My band hopefully is gonna be one to fill the gap and hel keep it going as well, SCARRED LIKE US
Sick AF!
Ascendancy + Ember to Inferno + Shogun = Heavy Trivium
Crusade + In Waves + Vengeance Falls = A bit softer Trivium
Ultimately, 'Heavy Trivium' + 'A bit softer Trivium' = True Trivium
Trivium has different style in each of their albums, you cannot argue which of them is ''more Trivium'' than the other albums. You can just argue which ones you like the most and which ones less.
I think out of all new bands I can name just 2 which make a PROPER METAL music without any subgenres:
Disturbed and Trivium!
Qué letra tan brutal !!!!!
In 2021 this song is very relevant.
Even more so now, everything is going to shit.
going to see them november 15th for the 3rd time. im so stoked.
I didn't even know Draiman was the producer honestly. I thought they sounded someone like disturbed on this album anyway, but now that makes so much more sense.
Here in 2021 with my horns up
Trivium Addicted!
I feel like the only one that likes the old AND new trivium
Michael Garvin No you're not!
I'll be honest I only like the new.
Personally like every trivium album except Ember To Inferno
love this band
Loved this in concert!!!!!
Finally a song about the U.S. government.
Star Spangled Banner didnt cut it for you?
Chase Daniels this one one is much more badass
The other one is Down From The Sky, also from Trivium
Ignition
True
This has to be my favorite song off the album lol
This part is absolutely awesome.
gold.
Hey, Luffy
When I first saw the track listing that was unveiled months before the release of the Vengeance Falls, I knew Villainy Thrives would be a personal favorite of mine. Bad ass title, great song. My favorite off the album along with Strife and Wake.
I wish my user name was iChoseCharybdis
Very powerful lyrics in this song!!!
Best song of the album!
2020🔥🔥
gotta admit, im liking this album alot more than In Waves, not that In Waves was bad, i liked it, but this album....im liking a tonne more!
love that album
Love this
love this song
My personal favourite trivium songs, just for the sake of discussion perhaps ;-)
1) Ember to Inferno
2) Down from the Sky
3) Rain
4) Villainy Thrives
5) The Decieved
Finally some new material.
Gentlemen this album is all of it heavy metal!!!! RESPECT FROM BRAZIL
2013 Roadrunner Records
My favorite album super style
Everyone needs to keep in mind Trivium is a young band... they're just now "pushing 30", so they are going to listen to the metal other kids these days listen to (Djent, etc.) and that's naturally going to rub off in their playing. They're also trying to get bigger and better as musicians, and so as time goes on every fan should've expected them to get a more "mainstream metal" sound (Killswitch, A7X, Disturbed, etc.) that is more polished and technical albeit formulaic and over-produced. If you want cutting edge metalcore, chances are you're not going to find it listening to the radio... the place Trivium was destined to wind up.
+gordontubbs they mainly sound more like Disturbed since the lead singer produced the album after all. That's why To Believe sounds almost exactly like Disturbed's My Child. But yeah, they've gotten really popular and are becoming more mainstream.
This song is so beast
Still my fav.
Unlike most people, I like this album quite a bit. It's not my favorite, as that was Ascendancy and In Waves, but this is still a good album. Trivium can pretty much play any style they want and I like it, because they're a talented band. Not many bands can change their style as much as they do and still be good. Look at Metallica. They were amazing. Ever since St Anger, they've been mediocre when it comes to new music. Their old stuff will always be killer, however.
perfect song
man this album is a gem, in their moment not dig it so well, but is badass, nice interpretation, balanced voice, sincerely I dont like so much the guttural abuse, (like declaration for example), instrumentally armomic and beautiful, this was like in waves but with steroids
this sounds like disturbed but yet its better
This needs to be at the end credits of Ben Afflecks "The Batman".
I also felt from the first moment i heard the album, that this song is so Batmanish. At least i'm not alone
Great album front to back. Should of started listening to trivium sooner
I hate to admit it but I didn’t listen to this album for a long while after getting in to Trivium, I mainly listened to Shogun front to back all the time plus songs from Ascendency, the Crusade and a couple of other singles like Strife and In Waves. Eventually I gave this album a listen and I was blown away. It’s solid front to back with no weak tracks. It blows my mind that it could receive as much criticism as it does.
Great song
I like this much more than Crusade honestly
villainy thrives (audio) dang it, I was really hoping this was just a picture, guess I have to listen to the audio
Excellent! Sick cover
