Scott... I could see turning off the " Auto" audio for a channel if I was using an instrument on a stand or an effect vocal mic dedicated to a track for a particular song. Select that channel to record that song part, then select any other channel to auto-mute that line. I have started testing a Paint Midi Captain pedal to keep dedicated mute/unmute switches without having to menu dive during a song (powered by the USB on back of Sheeran which is nice). There are definitely many features layered in this device depending on if you raw live loop, have some elements ready on the load, or use it with full pre-recorded tracks. Daunting at first (honestly, I almost sold mine after a couple months)... but once you spend the time, it's an incredibly powerful performance tool. ☮❤🎶
1:15 or 3... Magic phrase cult xD. Jockes aside it is incredible the amount of gear out there that we don't know about and that turns out to be realy useful and interesting.
Replay!!! Great review and device it looks like! I saw Ed back in August in Minneapolis. As he started the show, he was fully transparent with the audience about this device on the floor while performing and gave the whole audience a brief demo and started the show.
I configured my Sheeran X to be similar to the Boomerang III I've used for years, sync with no click so I can reset and do a different song with a different tempo on the fly. They fixed an early bug I had where any load or FX mode and it would toggle the display from channel view to wave view. Now it remembers which view you had set. Big "ah ha" things were figuring out how to add some compression and plate to chan 1-3 and then set the FX toggle on 2 to turn only the Octave effect. Chan 4 I dedicate to vocals... I can send other instruments there but the vocal mic cannot record on the other channels to keep chorus vocals organized. ☮❤🎶
Craziest and possibly the best looper on the market to ever come out without a doubt. I was expecting them to release the Chewie II looper as its own, but they've really made a better, more affordable product. Especially the Looper +
Thanks! And the looper in the Helix is extremely limited for sure, but I don’t think most people will use it for any advanced looping. That’s whats nice about the Looper X is you get good tones with the FX and a ton of looping options 🤘
Scott, epic dive as always! I love this looper but can’t get my desired outcome and maybe you can think of an approach… A full song performance for me includes having multi instruments and distinct sections, and most of my performances have some layer removal points.. and I can’t figure how to do that within this. Sync mode allows me to fully build a verse with different instruments that I can mute any of those tracks - amazing. But no way to go to a B section. Song Mode is next attempt, but every instrument in a given section has to be flattened into one track. Peeling the layer instead of mute is the closest I can get and a number of times it’s not the last layer I want to mute. Is there anything you’ve been able to find when trying to build a slightly more complex song? It’s like sync mode with bank A and B is what I’m looking for, but maybe there’s another way to think of it?
Glad you liked the video! And that I’m not sure. This looper has quite a few modes, so if this one can’t do it, I’m not sure which one could to be honest. But thanks for watching and hope you figure it out!
Scott as always your reviews are top-notch the video is very detailed. I have a small question about performing with your phone with easy performer... can you recommend a way to charge your smartphone while using your peripherals? I'm using an Android phone with an OTG adapter with an iRig Duo but i can't find a product that will charge the phone and the interface at the same time.
Thanks! And yeah that’s always tough… I feel like every adapter I’ve tried has always been ify at best. I think iRig makes a model that has a charging port that charges your phone too… but that was a while ago that I saw that.
For Spiral Cell I’m currently using Ableton Live. But my laptop is 10 years old now, and I’ll need to figure out what to do for it going forward. I’m trying different options, and I need one with midi because I automate it, so that’s why it’s nice that the Looper X has it 👍

This is a masterpiece review of the X, thanks Scott - awesome work!! If i may ask your suggestions on the following: i am also huge fan/ user of the 'Band' mode on the device; which hardware products you'd suggest for generating drum loops (connected to the X, to feed that 1st master track of band mode) aiming at top-40 rock pop songs? (been looking into maschine, push, yamaha fgdp50,drum loop pedals, etc; any ipad app instead?) . Massive thanks!
Thanks! Glad you liked the video. As far as drum loops, I don’t normally use them myself, and I often would perform the drum beats when looping. Although having that built in feature where you can import loops is pretty sweet, so that might be the way to go. I know some people have used Beat Buddy to set that up to sync with stuff using midi clock. But I’ve never done that
@ScottUhlMusic thanks Scott! I've got a BeatBuddy pedal and it's great indeed. with the X it works best under Midi , using Sync or Multi modes on the looping station. Cheers & keep the great content coming!
I personally disagree. The workflow is pretty incredible, and I love how much you can do with your feet. I haven’t used the 600, bit the 300 was my main looper for a while, and I definitely prefer the Looper X. But thanks for watching and commenting 🤘

@ yeah man for sure! Loop performers I’ve found are the most particular about their needs with equipment (which makes a lot of sense). That’s why my goal was to go in depth with this video to show what it was capable of 🤘 Thanks again for watching!
I personally use the RC600, but I love the interface of the Sheeran. I found the flexibility of the 600 to be much more capable than the Sheeran, but the interface is so intimidating to newcomers-something the Sheeran does a fabulous job addressing. Ultimately, it was size that kept me with the 600. I’m a multi instrumentalist, and my personal preference was to prioritize space over anything else. I do really like the Sheeran though, and your video is outstanding as always.
Haha yeah it’s an investment for sure. It’s for people who need that much control over their looper 🤘 Which is why it was smart that they also made the small Looper Plus for much much cheaper
Change of subject. Any thoughts or reviews on Rockville powered speakers? I’m looking for something for mainly backyard parties or occasional dj/pa use. Thx.
I haven’t checked into those. But I’ve reviewed the Everse 8 and 12, the Bose S1, the Mackie Showbox, and a fully wireless and battery powered system Using SKAA wireless 👍
Looks like Headrush built this Sheeran X? They are very similar looking screens and layout and the Headrush Looperboard is now discontinued. I like the footswitches much better on this one.
I would be most likely to use this in band mode so I can have a verse and a chorus, but I would want it to just switch at the end of the loop, not switch mid-loop that's crazy. I think I will wait until this is fixed in an update to consider buying this pedal. One other thing I'm curious about is why the effects apply to the tracks and not the inputs. To me that doesn't really make sense, because if I have an acoustic guitar, electric guitar and vocals plugged in, I want the specific effects for each instrument to apply to that instrument regardless of what track I'm recording it to.

Hi Scott, question. I cannot get guitar FX and vocal FX to play at the same time. It only gives me the option to press one. But then the other doesn’t go on. I want to use both at the same time. Is this possible with the looper x pedal?
I connected via the midi in port for this video. But you should be able to do it via usb as well. Check the global settings and make sure the channel is set correctly
