Dear Mr Gadget, I find your videos so very interesting. I’m a woman reaching the pointy end of life so have very little or no need for the products you show and describe so well - little need, but huge want. And as I reach the pointy end of life I shall buy some gadgets recommended by you that will give me joy. Thank you!

Dear Susan, I feel similarly. I find these EDC videos rarely are made by women. I keep finding myself thinking about things that, as a woman I would value to have around. Looking at what I carry in my bag, I already have some ideas. Perhaps @jongadget can recommend a female EDC expert to check it out? Or maybe this is an idea for a collaboration? I am a newbie in this topic and am curious for useful tips

John 3:16 “ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 “ Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” We are all Born into sin because of what our original parents Adam and Eve did in the garden. When they Rebelled against God after being tempted by the devil, sin ushered into the world and the world became Fallen ( Pain, Trials, Evil, Sickness, Death ). God is Merciful, Holy, Righteous, and Just, and He had the Right to send us all to Hell. Instead, God sent His Only Son to Die the death that we Deserve and Lived the Perfect life we couldn’t. 2 Corinthians 5:21 “ For our sake he ( God ) made him ( Jesus ) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” This Verse tells us that God Treated Christ on the Cross as if He had Committed Every Sin by Everyone who ever Lived and will Live, and treats us as if we had Lived the Prefect Life of Christ. Jesus Took the WRATH of God upon Himself because that’s how much he LOVES US. Call on the Name of Jesus Right Now and Give your Life to Him before it’s Too Late. Through Jesus your sins are washed Clean by His Blood and You’re Forgiven, Fellowship with God The Father is Restored, and you’ll have Eternal Life ( Heaven ). Only through Christ can you enter Heaven, not by your “ works “ or being a “ good person “. Our lives here on Earth are TEMPORARY and SHORT compared to Eternity, do you know where you’re going once You die? because it’s going to be Either in Heaven ( Peace, Love, Joy, No Pain or Sickness etc. ) with God or in Hell ( Pain, Darkness, Torment, Gnashing of Teeth, Restlessness ) with the devil. Make the Right Choice Right Now for your soul Depends on it. God Bless you all and I Hope you make the Right decision 🙏.

I'm happy to see this EDC trend gaining more ground with ordinary people, not just outdoorsy, adventurous folk. Most of my adult life, I've had a son, or husband or nephew asking, "Do you have a...?" whatever it might be. Because ladies carry handbags and we have stuff. Little did I realize that I've been an EDC gal all these years, and it's time for these boys to take care of themselves. What I have gotten the most benefit from is the idea of creating a comprehensive kit rather than having things scattered here and there in my bag. Also, the variety of kits you demonstrate for different purposes is very useful.

@@Happycamperedc It ain't girly, it's called being ready for anything. But it's funny, isn't it? I've had so many people question why I, as a woman, carry a pocket knife. My question is why, as a human being, would anyone NOT carry a pocket knife?

    • @Happycamperedc

@moxiedawn4370 I totally agree! I've gotten both my sisters pocket knives and they love them. Sometimes I wonder how I used to survive because they are just so handy... I think it's funny how my 'purse' has been labelled feminine and your pocket knife has been perceived as masculine... there's something that looks a lot like irony in that 🤔

I found you recently. I have always 'carried' things around, ever since I was a kid, but didn't think it was 'a thing'. I've always had a small bag of things I thought I would need and only quite recently did I realise that the 'thing' was EDC. Who knew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????? So, your videos have been the most helpful in-depth and knowledgeable that I've come across. Showing all types of different EDC combinations, which suits me right down to the ground!!! The links are extremely helpful, but I never thought it would be a challenge to consider what a personal EDC kit could be. It seems to be quite popular and I consider myself to be lucky to be part of the community. Thanks very much Jon, keep up the great work.

Tip for folks who tend to wear glasses: Using an elastic hair tie, Rovyvon-size lights are just small enough to strap to one of the arms on your glasses and work hands free. (depends a bit on the fit of your glasses)

It’s so fun to watch Jon’s EDC carry evolve! I purchased the Rovyvon A8 with the flashing red light option and it came in handy when out later than expected and in need of a bicycle tail light. It glows in the dark for quite a while after use, making it easy to find and so handy when we were camping. The best part is that my husband, who scoffed at such a mini light when I first got it, now asks to borrow it all the time. 😂

I've been using my Chums surf wallet for years. In my opinion its superior design because it features zips on both sized with seperated compartments and a clear window you can see through. That being said I've considered getting the Alpaka as a backup I believe they use water resistant material so thats a nice feature as well.

I use the “rough enough coin purse for men”. Made of cordura, good quality. I did remove the tacky branding on the outside.
Top Tip: Take a look at 12x100mm clear plastic test tubes. They are a great budget option for holding pills, matches, sewing needle/thread, etc… Plus you can cut them down to the exact size you want to not waste space.

    Hi John,
I have carried the alpaka pouch with a setup like this for a while. Some tips. Use the included pocket clip with the rovyvon torch in the loop on the exterior of the pouch. Sits the torch in a place where you can slip it off.
You can also use a small aluminium pill carrier within the pouch. Squish the bank cards to one end of the pouch and place the pill carrier at the other end. I use one of those credit card metal tools in the wallet to give it some strength and protect the cards

Your channel has been a great inspiration to put together some travel kits (one for travel by plane, and one that I keep in my commute backpack). After some time of use, it is interesting to see what has been actually used. The knife blade see little use, and I actually sometimes prefer my plane version, which use a Victorinox Nail Care Card instead. What I find I need often is a small set of nail clippers. Scissors work in a pinch, but the dedicated tool is so much better, and few things are more irritating than a nail with a small crack in it. I have also used band aids, the meds, at one time a sewing needle with thread and of course my power bank. I do not use the tiny flashlight very often, however.
Love the new pouch, though. Thank you for a great video.

This is my EDC, as well. A Leatherman Style CX (Style PS if I'm flying), and a micro s-biner with my house key and mailbox key, both clip to the key ring and slide into the open front slot; 6 cards and tri-folded cash go in the zippered slot with the divider; and an Inka adventure pen, InCharge 6in1, similar first aid materials, earplugs, meds, mints, and a CPR mask and gloves all go in the other zippered slot (the pen goes last, against the zipper to avoid anything catching in it, and the InCharge is at one end). A Glow Rhino key fob is attached to one zipper, so I can find the wallet in the dark (and maybe break a car window in a pinch?). This, plus my smartphone and a clean handkerchief, is my basic EDC.

After trying a multitude of pouches I settled quite surprisingly on the cheapest one by far. This is a micro pouch found on Temu for about £5 and they last me around 18 months. They are quite similar to yours but have the added benefit of a windowed sleeve at the front where I keep my licence and a pen sleeve on the back where I keep an OPen mini. The rest of my kit I got inspiration from your videos. I carry a pen knife loose depending on where I go but keep a Minichamp in the wallet (easy to forget when flying but they’ve allowed it on the occasion I forgot) . My meds holder has a selection of tape and Kevlar cord on the outside. Great tip from yourself and has been handy as well as headache powder. For the rest I have the same items in there as yourself except the Apple tag like card. I do wish it was 5mm bigger but it’s been working for a long time.

I use a viperade VE18s and it’s great for my odds and ends. It houses mini cobras and a mini bic lighter on one side, the other side fits my car key fob. The small zipper has 1/4” extension with a few bits and my garage remote fob. The main zip has a couple of small zip ties, band aids and a chap stick.
My multi tool is either a rebar on my belt at work or 1/2 a wave at home. The pocket clip on the 1/2 wave attaches beside my car key tidily to keep it together and just clips in my pocket while carried..
The only thing it doesn’t fit is a torch, I used to carry an I5R where the key goes but found it fits well in a weatherman pouch with my half wave, so I’ll often carry them as a pair.

Anyone that likes good quality kit are sure to love this! Another fantastic video showing what's possible when you scrutinise the options. Just a suggestion - not sure how else to get in touch but I'd be so happy if you'd suggest a coffee making combo for work so I look more professional than throwing everything in a plastic bag ( I carry an insulated mug, one cup cafetiere, coffee bag closed with clothes peg and a scoop for the coffee and to stir the hot liquid once in the cafetiere... Could you source the best options for this everyday caffeine delivery system!!?? Please😊

Sounds like you want to look at the medium-sized sling bags, or maybe bigger. You've got three somewhat large items so they're going to determine the minimum size of the carrier. Jon like Belroy sling bags, look at his other videos for reviews of those.

Jon, a possible alternative to A8 is the Olight Oclip. Definitely less powerful but it’s packed with great features.

I also bought the AirCard on Kickstarter, I would recommend consider other Card Trackers. The AirCard has a glued in battery which is not rechargable. To change the battery you have to send it in which depending on where you live is very expensive. In my opinion this was not made really clear on the kickstarter, also I would implicitly expect such a gadget to be able getting charged or something. Well but as mentioned there are other card sized Trackers with USB-C Charging and even a slimmer profile than the AirCard.

Love ur vids mr g! I've gotten a few things per your suggestions. For edc pocket carry i still use a trusty eagle creek zipper coin purse as they called it. But with several sewn in sleeve pockets, plus side loops for carabiners or ring clips or the like, this thing's a beast. I can fit loose change, alox minichamp, squirt ps4 (for the pliers mainly), 10 leatherman bit kit bits, rovyvon a8, a small sewing kit, a mini spoon and fork, cartridge inside of a basic papermate pen, zip ties, 1st aid stuff, tons of folded carboard like things, and that's still about half of what this 4" x 3" accomodates. And it's super robust bullet-stopping high quality construction. Plus, it indeed fits into even a jean's front pocket. I go nowhere w/o it. Sadly eagle creek discontinued it. (Sigh) I've been looking for a replacement of similar functionality and your alpaka suggestion seems to fit the bill (& billfold lol). So thanks! Keep pumping out your finds. I always find your views super informative.

I dig my Zip Pouch Pro, with a modification. I removed those annoying zipper pulls. The zips are so short that it just takes the edge of a fingernail against the head of the zipper to open and close the zips. Much like the action of the fingernail nicks on a Victorinox blade and tool. It makes the pouch so much more enjoyable to use without those zipper pulls, and the pouch in and out of pockets now is much more pleasant of an experience.

While it's tempting to organize wallet, keys, pocket knife, flashlight, fresnal, charging cable, plasters & meds into one pouch, I'd rather spread my stuff out among five pockets than load up one pocket with a full pouch. I'd also prefer quicker access to my stuff.
And I'd also prefer to carry more things. The pocket knife and flashlight, as well as a lighter and pry bar, augment my physical abilities in significant ways, and I want to be able to access them quickly or it somewhat defeats the purpose. Spread across five pockets, I can carry those things. As well as a Fenix E-Spark back up battery and flashlight.
I optimize my keys by attaching a meds tube. I use the Keyport Pivot 2.0 with the outer flashlight and charging cable modules. I optimize my wallet, one small one for my cards and E-Spark, and an Allett Travel Wallet for pen, paper, alcohol wipes, bandages, fresnal, Shout pads and a SwissCard.
I have found that by making the most of my core EDC (wallet, keys, phone), it frees up room for the tools mentioned above that I want to carry.

Always happy to see a new Jon Gadget video! While I love my A8, cracks have been growing in the plastic all around the button, to the point where i doubt it has any water resistance at all. I’m a little disappointed but i suppose it is plastic after all. I have just started carrying the O-Clip from Olight which is a similar size with magnets and a hands free option. No UV light but I barely used that and the case is metal so i’m not worried about cracking here.

I don’t get along with a pouch for EDC, I’d do have a one I take on any trips, with more bulky items. For actual EDC I have a compact and the A8 on clips in my pocket, as you say both fantastic. I’ve had a compact for years and added the A8 on your recommendation (thanks). I then have a Bellroy with removable wallet (allows me to wirelessly charge my phone in the car)case for my phone, that lets me have a few cards (debt, drivers license and gym). I have my Credit card loaded on Apple Pay, which works 99% of the time and debit for back up. Also get some cash in it. Swapped my house door lock to Yale smart locks years ago, so they are opened with my phone or a keypad. Finally car we use the most is operated with our phones, so no keys most of time, which I really love. Only thing Im looking to add is a small powerbank with built in cable, I would however like it to be a bit “tough” and I’ve not found anything yet. But t he looking is the fun bit. Great video, thanks.

I have carried the zip pouch and zip pouch pro, and although not practical for other things but the outside pockets on the pro provide a great slot for that power bank you said your kit was missing. I just took a knife and cut the threads that separate the dual pockets, and a 10k mah bank fits nice and tight but slides in smoothly over the xpac. You should give it a try.

I have the Alpaka Zip Pouch Pro and use it from time to time. I do find that the external pockets on these types of pouches are basically useless if you want to carry anything inside. Another video that increased my charge card balance. Not too much though. I changed my EDC pouch from a Topo mini to the Alpaka. Not quite as much room as the Topo. Had to leave out my Fischer Space Pen and Case Blackthorn. The knife was only in my EDC because I had room and it weighed nothing. The pen is loose in my pocket for now. I love the Alpaka’s compartmentalization, works for the OCD in me. Being slightly shorter than the Topo, and having a slicker finish, the Alpaka fits the extra pockets in my Vertx jeans and shorts very nicely.

    Hi Jon,
I'm a big fan and have been following your great videos for a long time. They're always helpful, and you're definitely one of the best in the EDC community! I wanted to ask for your opinion on a plier-based multitool from Leatherman, assuming knife carry laws like in the UK aren’t an issue.
My use would be mostly for urban, office, holiday situations, etc., and I’d need a tool with pliers, cutters, a blade, Leatherman’s driver, and scissors-preferably nothing beyond that. I know your favorite non-plier tool is the Compact (mine too!). I really like the Skeletool because it’s minimal, small, and light with just the essentials, but it lacks scissors, so I always end up carrying a Compact or Micra just for that.
Your opinion would mean a lot to me. Thanks a million in advance, sir!

I use one of those mini backpacks/coin purses. It's about 9 x 8 x 3/4cm. I leave the top nearly always unzipped for easy access to earbuds case and a small multitool (currently gerber dime) with a divder and the front pocket closed with a pill casule, a mini spray bottle with suncream, a few other small bits. I ended up with this shape bag since it's the only one I found that is good for earbuds which are probably my most used edc item and not wanting to have to take something out of my pocket unzip, re-zip etc

My problem with most pouches is that they are too thick in the pocket. You have three dimension to exploit - width and depth are almost never properly utilised.
I worked this out decades ago when I started carrying a pocket computer - even at school (I was an uuber-geek before that was even a thing). I envisage the perfect pouch to exploit width and depth (as it goes into the pocket) but sharply cuts back on thickness so it doesn’t bulge out in your trouser pocket and cause discomfort or look weird.
My ideal would be a folio style like the old cheque books - that would have a light zipper (not metal, that’s always ugly to use) and it would have a flap that only holds extremely flat elements such as your bandage, sterile pads, length of emergency chord, magnifying lens, etc. The whole thing would have elasticised internal loops to help keep and contain items internally. The opening would make the whole large area accessible properly so you’re not digging around in a pouch for things and it’d also maintain the thinner design. It’s been quite hard to find something though - I will probably have to have something made to order. The only other structural element would be a backing section of firm material to give it some form.
I’d also like to secure it to my belt via a very thin and strong chord (typically a Dyneema Thread chord attached to a discrete metal belt clip) so that the whole folio can’t fall too far or be forgotten easily. I actually want to find a solution to use the same model (Dyneema or similar chord and metal belt clip) to attach my shoulder messenger bag to my belt via a detachable cable so that if someone tries to snatch the bag it’s got an unexpected attachment to my belt.

I wish the incharge X would work with USB4 or Thunderbolt4 standard. Would be overkill at that point for video or high speed data. HDMI over USB-C requires 10Gbps. So Even USB2 would be enough. That little short cable is perfect length for connecting a phone or laptop to a small display.
