This video accidentally became a ‘what to get for the men in your life’ video. Greatly needed and couldn’t have come at a better time; husband’s birthday coming up and I’ve got ideas now.
During 13 years as a trucker I carried the Skeletal CX with the 154CM blade every single day for over a million miles. It's seen constant use and still holds up. I've also used D2 extensively and can confirm that it's a workhorse steel.
Flowfold Wallet is an awesome one for a minimalist. I use a ranger band (heavy rubber band) to hold the less used cards and backup cash, then leave my three most used cards loose in front. That system has worked well for years. Keeps cards clean to, for the working folks.
This is my first video from this channel and I'm enjoying it, I will subscribe!! I'm trying to figure it out which wallet to purchase and also other things to add to my EDC, i'm kinda new with this, I just kept it simple hahah
Got you, I keep my EDC basic, some things I can carry in my pockets and that's it. When I got my actual wallet, was even better. Got a VN100 from Vionentus. And now, am thinking to get a slingback or something, so I can have more things for my daily use.
@@Ethanxz1969 Ofc only if you're going to use all of those things, if not, then keep it simple for real. Don't force it because there's a lot of EDC content outhere.
@@MichaelMHl5 i have the same thought like, it depends totally on each person but sometimes why keep getting things you don't use around? doesn't make sense lol
Utmost respect and admiration for your thought processes and vision for creating this and all your videos. Your humble, zen-like approach and tone are captivating, and you are very influential with your knowledge and command of words. Keep on keeping on fam. Love from Bahrain
D2 and 1095 are 2 of my favorite steels on pocket knives. I own around 300 knives and counting. What many are too young to know is D2 was once considered a premium steel before today's much more complex premium steels. D2 is a true workhorse steel perfectly balancing toughness and resilience. Whenever I see anyone dogging on D2, I know they are merely echoing others who base their negative perceptions purely on price points. D2 is simply a mass-produced steel on a scale larger than all of today's premium steels combined, which equates to a much lesser expensive price point. D2 is a workhorse steel for the working person and not just expensive pocket candy for opening Amazon packages.
One thing I'd really love to have in a EDC torch is the red LED. People think the red LED is a gimmick, but nothing preserves your night vision like that red LED. You can reserve the high-lumen torch to flashbang someone when in a pinch XD Couple of watch-related points: - what's that gorgeous single-pass NATO on the SKX? I love them NATO straps, and the SKX platform is such a strap monster. You can get a totally new watch just by swapping out the strap for a bracelet or another strap - worth keeping an eye out: Seiko is releasing an Alpinist GMT. 3-day power reserve, 200m water resist, sapphire glass with AR coating, ultra-hard finishing, all the mid-range Prospex goodies. The catch is that it's a caller GMT, and that the original colorway (gold hands on sunburst green dial) is a JDM exclusive. But that, for me, would probably be *the* GADA watch. Dress, field, travel (or anything that requires you to track two time zones), even some water time? Yes please.
RovyVon have several options for EDC flashlights with secondary red LEDs. They are usually on the side and are designed for flood, not throw, but they are indeed quite useful for preserving that night vision. Personally I use the A8 Gen 4 with the White/Red/UV side lights, and I keep it on my keychain.
I’ve been using the Carhartt canvas wallet with zipper for a few months. For short lists and quick notes, I slipped some blank business card-sized card stock into the rear horizontal slip pocket and added an adhesive pen loop to that same pocket. Didn’t even have to adhere it - friction holds it nicely in place. Added a Fisher space pen to the loop. Great little compact system that would be fine for a pocket, but I mostly use with a slim cross-body bag. (BTW, I love fountain pens and carry a three-pen sleeve with my planner, but I don’t have them on me ALL the time.) That Lochby looks tempting!
This video rocks as all of your videos do. Though I'm retired, I still love my EDC and still carry them today. I no longer work but volunteer and my EDC is still relevant today. Love your videos so keep making them as I look forward to viewing them.
Excellent and convincing presentation (as well as video editing). I like the reassuring and moderate tone, the fluent but not aggressive verbal speed of expression, qualities that are very rare among bloggers/youtubers. I have just one small consideration, strictly personal: I got the shivers when, pointing at the (beautiful) dial of the Seiko watch, you use as a pointer the blade of the Tanto, sharper than a razor. Unless the Seiko's dial glass is made of unbreakable sapphire, it would be enough to touch it with that blade to scratch it irreparably...
I purchased the SPEC-DNT at the beginning of the year and love it! It’s so useful especially with hands full with a baby and toddler at times. I would 1000% recommend it. (No typo. I mean 1000%)
Thank you for this video. I've started to declutter my EDC for the past 3 months and this video helped me even further to put utilitarian thinking to my EDC setup. As i will not put (more) less usefull but tacticool / cool gears 😅
I edc a UAV for some aerial reconnaissance, because you know how a life of edc goes, also sometimes i edc armor plates and termite you guys know it right
I love my Civivi elementum, been using it for 2 years and it’s been pretty reliable. I need to sharpen it though. Great value for the price. Great video as always
The Cold Steel Code 4 tanto is S35VN steel and comes in at just over a hundred bucks. Great knife, I have the clip point and love it. It's the thinnest folder I have, and fits in just about any pocket. Since this video has released, there are a few new Civivi options for D2 steel that have a flipper tab and button lock (but I think they lack the metal scale option, I only saw in G10).
My Garmin Instinct 2x Solar Tactical watch has a built-in flashlight, which I never thought I would really use but it always comes in handy and it's always attached to my wrist basically. And I don't really need a flashlight in my bag now!
I'd appreciate it if you could also detail on how to carry edc items. For instance, I want to carry my organiser and pens everywhere I go. But I don't want bulging pockets.. so some ideas on how to carry would be nice.
I've been using the carhartt wallet without the zipper and have had no issues with anything falling out, so I would probably chose the non-zippered version for me because the zipper would scratch my phone in my sling
As the inventor of the antimicrobial pocket tool ( The Copper Shark ) I would love to trade one of your version for one of mine. I love seeing different versions of my creation in people’s EDC.
I use a leather business card holder for my EDC wallet. It's a lot like the Belroy that you show first, and saves you about $47. I'm a huge fan of that TUP 1000 flashlight. I have one, and I love it.
I gotta cheap asf metal match/keyring from xeifi. I never use the match part. But it becomes a sriker and flint plus wick if I take it apart. I tried the product like it was intended and can tell it's cheap asf. So, I use it as a key ring and know I can easily make a fire with it till the fuel runs out, Then take it apart for a spark/fire starter for quite awhile after. It's a decent enough keyring. It's mostly to hold 4 special keys for my job.
I'm a huge sucker for my Victorinox Deluxe Tinker, as it serves for most of my daily use needs (LOVE those pliers), but if I had to switch it for a blade, I would go for a kiridashi, cause it covers my package opening and scraping needs (besides my must have of looking non threatening)
great episode, thank you. Question - with all the travel that you do, how are you able to not have your pocket knives/etc. confiscated at security checks? (context - i had my swiss army tool with dinky blade and scissors taken away from my carry-on in Japan)
Hey man! Love the vids! I just recently came across this wallet brand out of Oakville, Ontario: Oaktown leather. From what I've seen of your carry, I think you'd dig it! I bought one of their chestnut oak wallets a few years back and has been holding up amazingly! Keep up the great work!!!
Great video! I enjoyed and appreciated your thorough explanation! As of September 2023 the Nitecore light is on sale for $50, I think I'm going to pick one up! I love the fact that it has a built-in display for battery status. Does it come with that little carabiner built onto it, cuz that thing is nice too! I'm a reverse tonto blade kind of guy myself, WAY easier to sharpen 😊. Keep up the good work!

Good set up for you but it is a bit outdated for those who want to copy. The alpinist is hard to find for under 800$ these days because of it's ridiculous ramp up in value after being discontinued. It is still just a 300$ watch but people went nuts over it for some reason. If you are a canuck you can no longer import the benchmade knife as customs once again changed the rules for knives and will confiscate them if you try to import them.
Would the Paper Republic le portfolio be an option for you if you couldn't use the Traveller's notebook? I'd love to buy one but the price simply throws me off. What do you think?
