  • This Is BAD NEWS For 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid Owners
WE HAVE BAD NEWS FOR HONDA LOVERS, well, During the TFL Slip Test, the newly redesigned 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid FAILED to Perform as Anticipated! WE KNOW IT IS SHOCKING AND DISHEARTENING, but if you're looking out for this particular model, you need to watch this whole video to come to some conclusion, welcome back to TECH ADDICTS, we provide you all authentic and transparent information that helps you take a rational decision when it comes to automobiles, so let's not waste any time and get into the video!
A handful of the all-wheel drive traction tests are difficult to pass for the redesigned Honda CR-V Hybrid. THE NEW HONDA CR-V HYBRID should offer the best of all worlds in terms of fuel economy as well as a driving experience that is safe and comfortable on a daily basis.
Using the TFL Slip Test, Tommy puts a variety of all-wheel drive and four-wheel drive vehicles through their paces to determine which ones perform the best. THE MAJORITY OF AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS sell the majority of their crossovers specifically for their combination of practicality and dynamics. However, how does Honda's most recent hybrid crossover perform when put under scrutiny? To summarize, its performance was not at all what we had anticipated. Watch the following video to see how it turned out.
THE 2023 HONDA CR-V HYBRID RETAINS much of the same mechanical underpinnings as the previous generation's model. In addition to an electric motor that is positioned on the back axle, this new model utilizes an Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine that is 2.0 liters in displacement. Together, the components of the system are capable of producing 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque.
In contrast to the TOYOTA RAV4 HYBRID, Honda's solution utilizes a mechanical all-wheel drive system, which directs the power from the electric motor to the front axle only when it is necessary to do so. It is possible that the lack of a physical connection between the gasoline engine and the electric motor in the Toyota, which is what we replicate with the TFL Slip Test and what drivers experience in the real world on the onX Off Road course, will be problematic in certain situations in which the rear wheels lose traction.
IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT THE CR-V HYBRID PERFORMED ADMIRABLY in two-wheel traction loss scenarios, the results of the three-wheel slide test, in which only one wheel at a time is actually making contact with the ground, were not particularly encouraging. These tests are aimed to highlight a range of real-world scenarios that you'll want to consider when comparing the exceptionally competitive crossover market segment to the Honda CR-V Hybrid, but it doesn't mean that the Honda CR-V Hybrid is a bad car by any stretch of the imagination.
Lets us look at the pros and cons list of the 2023 HONDA CR-V HYBRID, to be a bit more precise about the model,
Since its introduction to the market in 1997 as one of the very first compact SUVs available in the North American market, the Honda CR-V has been a customer favorite. But it has not been able to keep up with the competition in the market, and as a result, it has lost ground over the years to an expanding number of rivals whose designs are superior. Honda has successfully navigated their way back onto the right path with the launch of the revamped CR-V in 2023.
The redesigned Honda CR-V has a roomier and more high-end interior that is also somewhat larger than before. The sport-utility vehicle (SUV) has been updated with additional technological features, including a MORE ADVANCED INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM.

Yes. The reason is that Honda crammed a big battery and everything else on the gasser platform leaving no room. My neighbor's top of the line Acura sedan doesn't have one either. Their rush to offer a CRV hybrid cost them sales for people who insist on a spare tire which has been standard equipment on rolling vehicles for a decade. I'm on a vacation through Death Valley and a tire blows and destroys the rim. I'm out of cell range with no spare.

I tested the CRV 2023 two weeks ago on very bad roads in the third world, my experience was exceptional with a soft suspension, excellent handling in curves, very refined vehicle, acceleration is very good, I have no complaints, since it is a family vehicle, I had the 2019 rav4 With a hard suspension, not very pleasant on curvy roads, fuel consumption is not good, in fact I changed it for a Civic 1.5 T, which I own to this day. Honda CRV is an excellent vehicle.

At about 800 miles the city MPG jumped from 37 to 42 (I guess it needed a break-in period). Now I typically get 42-43, on a short 100 mile hwy trip it dropped to 40.1. I just bought a 2023 CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring. It seemed to me that at the beginning of the video that there might be a problem with the AWD, but it wasn't brought up under the cons. I live in southern California, so AWD is not important, but it's something to pay attention to. The brakes seem fine so far, but I'll test them during a hard stop to see if they are mushy. Overall, there wasn't much bad news for a hybrid owner, although I agree that it would be better if it were a plug in.

I think TECH ADDICTS have not understood the HONDA AWD filosophy in all CR-Vs. This system don't try to compete with TOYOTA LAND CRUISER or similar, it is designed as a security aid. It connect rear wheels as soon front ones slips.
It is a mechanic and hydraulic pump located in the rear axle moved by both, motor transmisión and rear axle gears.
As soon a diference is detected, It increase oil preassure and connect rear axel to the transmition, almost instantaniusly, increasing agarre, that is safety.

I sold my Acura RDX 2021 to get CR-V Hybrid EXL 2024, in order to save on gas and have a more spacious cabin. So far it works for me, even though it is less agile than RDX even in the hybrid Sport mode (comparable). But who cares? Eco mode, which everyone curse is actually very good in the city traffic situation (stop and go) and horrible on the highway. Just switch it to Sport when you getting on the highway and you are fine.

Antiquated drive shaft, instead of electric motor rear drive, no rear regen braking, overly complex trans with 2 clutches, vs Toyota with last forever, simple, planetary. Hybrid battery location looks like an afterthought with a lot of wasted space. Easy to see they are not Toyota.

There are some comical aspects to the video. My favorite occurs at 8:25 which shows a drum brake, while saying the brakes are unresponsive. Yup, drum brakes on a car like this would be pretty unresponsive. Later, at 8:40, we're told you can eliminate the use of the brake pedal "entirely" by using regenerative braking. Entirely? I'm thinking this is some type of AI created video that isn't to be trusted.

Well, I absolutely love my 2023 CR V Hybrid Sport Touring, AND, my wife loves HER'S as well ... that's right ... His & Her's CR V Hybrid Sport Touring SUV's in our garage!
I quit watching this video when the idiot said the electric motor was on the rear axel. That is just WRONG!
If you are going to make a video review, don't expect any RESPECT, if you don't do your homework. The AWD Sport Touring has TWO electric motors, and they are both UNDER THE HOOD. One motor is rated at 181hp, and the other works more like a generator to power that motor as well as charge the high voltage battery, which is located under the rear cargo floor.
I would like for it to have a plug-in, as most of my round trip driving is under 10 miles. I would only use the ICE under hard acceleration, which this vehicle will do with gusto, when asked.

All reviewers of the 2023 gas Honda CRV are totally out to lunch when describing a “sluggish” start off the line.
I’m in “ Econ “ mode 99% of the time and have Nil problems accelerating!
Let me offer this advice to those mis-informed reviewers.
DON’T TROMP THE ACCELERATOR UPON leaving a stop light nimrod!
    Any questions so far?
Regarding noise at highway speed upon hard acceleration -ya right for what all of 2.5 or three seconds.
Ease into the acceleration (yes for one second more OH NO) and then press the accelerator a bit more than normal.
Now if you think the CRV trans is noisy, get into the 23 RAV4 and tromp the accelerator.
    Now that’s noisy!
If you feel someone is tailgating you & you really need to get a move on tap the gear selector to “Normal” or drop the gear shift into “Sport mode!” Any more questions?
I’ve enjoyed my 23 EX-L CRV since last October.
I was told by 10000 k’s I’d get better gas mileage.
Not only am I getting better fuel economy, I’m consistently getting 33+ Imperial MPG C the air conditioning on in city driving!!
I can’t think of why I’d put out the outrageous $6000 more for the 23 CRV TOURING HYBRID.
    Go Ni
