Thanks for the video, luckily I was up with acetate collecting already and would like to add something you may like….I buy large yoghurt pots, they come with a clear acetate lid that I use to make shaker cards..as it already has depth, a lip to use tape or glue on and fits perfectly within my circle dies…..I have also been know to make a double one with two scenes back to back and the lid lip glued together to make Christmas tree bauble style ornaments… I have done demo’s on this at my crafting club and it was greatly received and now I have converted lots of crafters to having yoghurt for breakfast. Lol
Once again, thank you for showing people frugal crafting ideas.

Thank you so much for making this video. I just became a member 9 days ago and I'm loving all the things that you are showing us how to make. Being new to paper crafts I'm finding that it's frustrating to have to order little things that I need for each project and having to wait sometimes a week or more for those items to arrive. I have organized some of the projects in zip lock bags, etc. until the missing item(s) arrive. I had no idea that you could use packaging acetate for these projects, I thought that it might be too thick. I know this is long winded, but I just received the order I placed for the "Get Well" project, it arrived in a very short time and the most beautiful pacakaging was totally organized. You are something Miss Sherry, I'm so happy that I found your channel.

Hello Mz Sherry, I have been looking at everything, well those things I remember, to see other uses in things. Another great source for chipboard like and acrylic pieces are the multiple ink cartridges pack. The mounting board is a nice thickness and some of the top is molded acrylic, but you could squeeze out some smaller pieces. When I purchased some foil pans for Thanksgiving, I do not use the tops. I prefer foil to cover, cook and transport, but now I have two tops to use.

Oh Sherry , you have no idea how happy I am to see you make this video! I also keep both the acetate & sturdy card stock packaging for crafting! I can’t wait to show my hubby this video, cause it helps validate why I refuse to let my family throw away “free” crafting supplies! Lol 😂😊🥰
I save the acetate from dry goods packaging, like dry pastas, too. Manufacturers are usually pretty generous with the size of the acetate window on the front of the boxes.
Also, I keep the clear acetate boxes from dollar tree office supplies ( push pins, paper clips, rubber bands, etc) . The packaging labels are easy to slip off & the result is a nice clean reusable box or deconstructed piece of acetate.
The possibilities & supplies are endless, once we know what & where to look for them. 😊 Thank you again for ALL you share with us! I wish you & everyone a wonderful thanksgiving! 😊🙋🏽‍♀️🥰

I generally save things like that for crafting! Especially any type of heavy cardstock I get from packaging and mail solicitations. You may not find acetate in the mailbox, but you can get some heavy duty precut paper stocks. Thanks for sharing!

I often use containers the grocery store uses in their deli or produce section. Like the big trays with cut up watermelon, deli meat trays you would bring to a party, or Chinese food. Obviously they have to be washed but they work great.

Hi Sherry. Thanks for sharing this tip. I save and have been saving my acetate from packaging for years now. I trim them down and store them in size order in a crate in my craft room and the overflow in my garage. I’ve got enough to last me a long time. And I’m so glad I do because now most products have stopped using plastic in an effort to be earth friendly. I use it for all types of projects. Hopefully you will share some of your ideas with us.

We might need an underground TH-cam channel for you to share this info! 😂 With Dollar Tree going up 25% on items, other manufacturers might start thinking of ways to cut back on "free" things we can repurpose! 😮 I also use the lid from the containers at the grocery store that the Spring Mix or Baby Spinach comes in, for acetate. Great ideas! Keep 'em coming...but on the DL! 😂😂

Wow, as a craft supply “collector” I never thought about saving acetate. I stow away heavy packaging for chipboard and such. I had saved the packaging from my scoreboard for the chipboard but apparently the acetate is still with it as well. Bonus!
Just noticed the Dollar Tree Christmas cards I’ve been using have an acetate lid on the box. I would have thrown that out not thinking because I have acetate sheets already!
    Thanks for another outstanding tip!

How about all those envelopes that have "windows" ? They are a great source for those projects that you want to make a "pocket" to show your ID or vaccination cards etc. - amazing the things we usually toss out that could be a great help if we would just SAVE those items !!

  • @stephaniedillard9706

I use plastic from packaging for " windows". You can also use the "plastic " from deli trays or packaging, the clear tops from donuts....it really is everywhere!! I have black garbage bags (2) filled with packaging and plastics that I didn't know was "acetate". My budget doesn't allow for chipboard, hence the packaging. I usually don't have this much but I've collected since September for Christmas.

I just stumbled upon your video station, and I am impressed! I watched a couple already and want to now make room for paper crafting. Being a senior on a fixed income, I am always looking for inexpensive ways to do things and to purchase things for my needs. Being frugal by nature, I am inspired by you and can't wait to do my first project; covering the shipping boxes this household gets. I've always admired the beautiful company made boxes at the retail stores but was always turned off by the prices. Well, no more! Thanks to YOU, I can now make my own to fit in with my decor. Thank you so much!

I've been saving my packaging for a long time as well. But, being in a small mobile home, I can only keep so much. But I do find places to put it. :) I love all your tips and tricks and hope you come up with more. Not sure what else there could be, but you can come up with some pretty darn good ones. Be well, have a very Happy Thanksgiving & TYFS

I have been doing this for a couple of years. I will spend a couple hours cutting packages like this n boxes down, every once in awhile. Hubby said he wished I would stop collecting trash until one day I used a milk carton lid for a leg to a shelf. It was on carpet n I didn’t want to Mount it to my wall so we put the lid Uber the front. Perfect.

Toy boxes! A lot have a flat sheet in front, and each accessory in the box is separately packaged in acetate! Also, they usually have a sturdy piece of cardboard in the back. I've been saving acetate packaging forever...I have even used some of the pieces as "plates" or shims for my mini die
cutting machines. I use pieces as "dies" for items when I want to modify the shape of a die I already have. Cut metal die out of acetate then modify as needed, use pencil to trace/cut modified shape. Acetate can also be used as patterns for envelope making, etc. I save ALL the heavy chipboard from new die packaging (especially the Anna G. dies, that come in envelopes...really heavy) great for making boxes and other projects (journal covers.) Sorry for such a lengthy post, but it might save a "newbie" a lot of money. Love your channel! M. Sims

Didn't know what acetate was, but I do now! Great ideas to reduce, reuse, recycle!

Great idea. Supplies can work out very expensive, so any way of saving on them is great.
