    Sorry, but I just saw it now.
    I also bought now a K1200S of 2007 with only 8000 kms but has the noise, only at the moment of the start...
    Congratulations and success for your company

    Hello,
    Thank you for your video.
    With this new tensor, does the "traditional" noise disappear?
    Thanks

    Hello. First i had the 2 sec. noise after start. My dealer than put on a tensioner for K1300 at around 50000 km. and it worked ok. Now i have 80000 km. and have a lot of noise but only at warm engine. My qestion is. When i use your tensioner i must follow the instruction for the k1300 engine ? Thank you for the video. My name is Bjarte from Bergen. West of Norway

      Your dealer installed the upgraded BMW tensioner. You probably have to replace the O-Rings for that

      @@FryChicken Thank you fore answer. I had too change the worn out plastic rails at 90,000 km so i still use the BMW tensioner. Now i wonder if the 1300 tensioner pressure too hard on the chain ? Should i put on the manual one like i the video ? (i have bought it)

      @@bjarteengen588 I have the fixed tensioner but I don’t like it. I’d prefer one that’s spring loaded. I will furnish the K1300S tensioner and install that in due time.

    Hello CJ..i noticed a very low grinding-like noise, quite rough, when decelerating from about 4000rpm to 3000rpm along with some light vibration. If i install this chain tensioner on my bike (2010 K1300S), can i solve the problem?? Thank you!

    One question unrelated to the topic of this video. And I apologize for that. How is it possible to get a cover for the passenger seat like on the motorcycle that is the subject of the video. I have a 2006 K 1200 S. Thanks in advance for your reply.

    I always hate how I need to modify tools to “make” them work. So now I need to purchase a tool box for all modified tools.

    Hello to you folks at SCMW. I have a 2006 K1200r. 27500 km. Just did the 30,000 km service.I just mounted the "update" CCT from BMW. The hydraulic one that was supposed to solve the annoying 2 second rattle at upstart. The longest 2 seconds I've ever experienced. ... The new CCT didn't help much. Rattles just like before for a second before the little cylinder in the CCT fills up with oil.. The motor runs a little rough at idle and causes a vibration transplant down into the clutch... (as I notice that the rattle goes away when I pull in the clutch lever) This is normal says the BMW shop. hmmm ... They said they could replace the clutch ... but it probably wouldn't fix the rattle they said. ...(have read on Kbikes.com that the clutch change has fixed the rattle sound also) Some managed to fix it and some didn't. There is a variety of several different problems that cause the problem(s) My question to SCMW is, Will this CCT make my bike run smoother at an idle than the CCT from BMW? What's the price of yours? May be worth a try anyway.
    Thanks !

      danielhehir1 Hello my friend. Ok yes there are a few issues that you have. The rattle at startup will be solved 100% with our tensioner. It does create a more stable idle as well. That is because the cam timing is consistent with consistent chain tension.
      Now the rattle in the clutch. That is mostly caused by the springs in the clutch basket have compressed and lost their tension. There is a spring loaded gear on the back of the clutch basket with tends to lose spring tension. You may also want to check the tension on the oil pump drive chain just behind the clutch basket as well. That should be tight. Those are known to create noise if they are loose. And finally the clutch itself if it is worn or the basket has excessive wear from the clutch tabs then that makes a lot of rattle as well. So the tensioner will fix the rattle from the engines cam chain, but you may also need to look at those other items as well. Check out our website www.southerncaliforniamotowerks.com for purchase information. You can email me with any questions as well. Thanks for checking us out.

      Thanks a lot for the quick response SCMW. That was really great! I am going to order a CCT right now !! I have a feeling that the clutch rattle will go away too by putting on your CCT. Because the little "blurp" is what initiates the clutch to make the rattle. The rattle is not there before the motor falls down from "choke" in rpm's when it has run for a few minutes. When warm the CCT functions fine on start up. You don't hear that "really nasty Rattle" of the cam chain. But the comes the clutch rattle. When the idle falls, that's when the clutch noise begins. The bike has so little km on it that I can't imagine any wear in the clutch already. It's been babied it's whole life. You know there are literally hundreds, maybe thousands of k1200's that have this problem. You guys should work for BMW. The worst part of it is, the guys in the BMW shop here (I live in Norway) they say that it's "normal ....or ... characteristic" for this bike. ..... right ... hmmm (...)

    • @socalmotowerks8526
      @socalmotowerks8526  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      danielhehir1 Yea most shops definition of normal means all of them do it. Which really means they all have a problem and this is just the way they dance around it. BMW makes great machines but just like all other brands there is always something that has a problem.

      Double x I think it would still be wise to put the jump Guard in as it covers the small sprocket off the crankshaft.

    I thought one time I read that BMW discouraged installing a new chain tensioner on high mileage bikes. My bike has nearly 50k miles, is this safe to install?
    Oh, and nice video.

    • @socalmotowerks8526
      @socalmotowerks8526  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matthew Tillman this is not a factory tensioner. This tensioner is a manually set tensioner. This is a remedy for all of their tensioner problems. Once you install this all the rattling will go away and you will be safe from a cam chain skip. (www.socalmotowerks.com)

  • @relisis46
    @relisis46 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    BMW suggests not to install it on bikes with a mileage above 12K. If so you need to change sprockets, chain and guides at the same time. Whats's your opinion about that? Mine has 60k, rattles and has still the original tensioner.
    Source: www.k-bikes.com/threads/2006-k1200s-cam-chain-tensioner-upgrade-over-12k.23652/

    • @socalmotowerks8526
      @socalmotowerks8526  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With 60k on it, it is likely to have a lot of slack in the chain as it has been running that way for awhile. I see an excessive amount of wear on the K bike with anything over 50k on it. So I would tend to agree with them on that. I have had people say they put it in with that many miles and it has worked just fine. I would recommend the replacement of the chain, sprockets, and guide rails for best results

      Dieter Müller aftermarket spark plugs? Check those condition. This is a strange condition to have. However not related to the tensioner. I think you have some sort of electrical interference or poor isolation in the harness

      That, my boy, is what a super high compression engine with radical valve timing sounds like. You don't get 163 horsepower from 71 cubic engines and then have it idle like a sewing machine.
