The sport/Normal and comfort are purely suspension settings and have no effect on throttle response, the Helmet, 2 helmets and helmet and luggage symbol control the bike's preload settings and the comfort/normal/sport control the rebound settings.

I picked up a 2007 K1200S with 15K miles a few months ago, similar in color, but with blue wheels. I've been riding since the early 80's, have owned numerous bikes, and this bike has the most comfortable OEM seat out of all of them. Mine came with aftermarket bars that have a slightly higher rise, so less of a reach and weight on my wrists. I replaced the big OEM muffler with a short Akrapovic knock-off muffler, and the bike wails like a Superbike now. I'm used to analog gauges, so those don't bother me, would rather have them than digital readouts. This bike has plenty of power, and once you're up to speed, it handles very well. It's an all-around great bike, a terrific alternative to the Japanese liter bikes for sure.

Riding k1200s since 2005 and it’s a phenomenal bike! Has everything you need, power, handling, comfort and speed. Very reliable in my own experience. Nothing else out there like it. Worth every penny.

Had the k12 and now k13 and there’s nothing I would swap for. I’ve tried busa, owned a zzr1400, tries 2021 rt, and Ducati supersport. I’m my opinion nothing comes close to the comfort, power and rock solid handling. And just as good two you with luggage, in fact you don’t even know you have a pillion. Please please please bmw make a new version.

I bought my 2006 k1200s in July 2021. I love it but don’t have any thing to compare it to. This is my first bike but I’m not a new rider. The only problem I have had was the fuel strip. I had it replaced 3 times in one month. I read that was a common problem with that model. My bike had 17702.784 kilometers and not one scratch on it when I purchased it. I got from a 80 years old man.

I bought my K12s about 3 months ago and I'm fucking in love with it! Such a beautiful and powerful machine. I did a 500 KMs trip on it last month and it was a breeze. I don't think I'd be changing into another bike any time soon.
I pretty much agree with you on the gauges, would've loved to have a digital speedometer.
    Thank you for the review.

Its supposed to be suspension only. I cant feel a difference on power delivery on my ‘05 model between the various modes. Have an Arrow pipe on - sounds awesome and apparently also slightly improves low down throttle response. TBH, the fueling is fine, maybe the issues would only become obvious when riding it back to back with a K1300S, which has better throttle response oit of the box.

It's worth mentioning that the 06' k1200s was a totally different bike than the k1200rs from previous model years. Up through 05' (I think) most of the k series still had the longitudinally mounted inline 4 'flying brick' engines that BMW had been using since the early 80's, while k models from 2005-6 on had a new conventional transverse four. The new engines had a lot more power. Also a digital gauge? No. Boo. It's going to be a huge pain in the ass to keep all that unnecessary digital crap working or to find replacements as these early modern era bikes start to hit 30 years old.

So I'm 34 and 6'2". I've had my '07 K1200S for about a year and it's perfect, you won't feel too big on it. My previous bike was actually an '04 R1150R Rockster and while that was comfortable, I'd much rather take the K12 for almost any riding situation. The comfort is incredible, long trips are a breeze, you'll be able to pass on the highway in 6th, you don't even need to downshift, the power is always there, low or high revs, the thing just pulls and pulls and then it screams around 7k+ rpms leaving you wondering if the inline 4 has a secret turbo that the Germans hid somewhere up in there.

Such a good looking bike, with so much power! but...... a total nightmare when it comes to reliability, so many "Commin Proplems" is almost laughable. ABS/ESA/REAR HUB/FUEL SENSORS, The list is endless. An amazing bike let down by poor engineering (like most things from BMW really) no way I would choose this over a nice Busa 🙃

I've just bought a 2007 K1200S and I'm very impressed, having been a Busa rider previously, I like the fact I don't have so much strain on my wrists or back. My only gripe is the indicators, having to think where they are and to use the cancel is a bit of a pain but will surely become easier with muscle memory after more saddle time.

I was totally unprepared for its stunning power.I’ve had iton the track, it will handle those corners no problem and outrun everyone on the track it is very stable and easy to handle. I’ve been through through snowstorms and torrential downpours and it never let me down. Drove two up for a while, she was. Only110lbs but I didn’t notice an iota of difference in handling when I ran solo if you can pick up a used one, and they are incredibly cheap, give it serious consideration. It is lot of bike🤩

I never understood how can someone say that the gen 1 busa is better than the bmw k 1200 . I rode both and i chose the bmw . Busa is more powerful but it handles lbadly compared to the bmw and when you ride the one after the other the busa feels like someone cut your brake cables ... Minus for bmw very clunky gear box and less powerful engine in everything else is superior.
