    My friend who watched me deadlift heavy weights, he always said pull the slack off the bar first then pull the lift. I know what it means but never think you could pull the slack off while doing the hip shoot, this was very informative Brendan!!! Thax man!! Hope to see you at the ARC some day, so I can say hi to you haha

    I can use alot better leg drive with trap bar but with standard b/b deadlift, i always feels like it turnd into a stiff leg deadlift. I have a few back issues from a fall when I was younger so deadlift sometimes is a challenge.

    great video and content as always man! goes well with what Nsima has shared with me in terms of leg drive( more so spreading floor and hip drive) and also pulling the slack out the bar. Please do make more videos man haha. Keep it up Brendan!

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely will! Haven't seen Nsima's video yet but yes for sumo you definitely want to think press and spread! Ignites the glute med like crazy!

    I never know whether to utilise hip shoot but this is a great argument for doing it ! Thanks

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alex drugfreelifting yeah man for most people I implement it. It creates more strength and power hands down while helping people pull the slack out better. The only time I don't have clients use it is when they lose positioning or technique because of it. This happens sometimes and I'll either have them do a smaller hip shoot or none at all. For every other client I have them utilize it!

    Hey Brendan! I was wondering if you could please help with a problem that i've been having that no body else has been able to help me correct. My problem is that my pecs are pretty tight. The wired thing is that I do not have the thoracic kyphosis posture, in fact my upper back is quite straight and my chest is out! My arms on the other hand are always in front and away from of my body. I can't really bring them close to my body without feeling tightness on my chest and shoulders. I even have a hard time putting my hands behind my back without having to really round my upper back! My arms also tend to bend a little on my elbow joint, making my arms hands go even more forward! I would really appreciate some advice. Thank you for your time! You are the man!!

    I actually know what you're talking about not pulling the slack out of the bar and then getting stuck 😅 lol and trueee I was just doing the hip shoot because I saw everyone else doing it but as I kept doing it I felt the difference in speed getting the bar off the ground like hey this really has a purpose lol

    Hey Brendan, great videos! I'd love to see a video of you talking about your deadlift and how to safely use a rounded back deadlift. Is it all bracing and sequencing or is there more to it than that?

      I seriously remember in my bro days searching like no other for an answer to the question "should deadlifts go on back day or leg day?" 😂 I really didn't understand programming or mechanics back then lol. In the times of having a "back day" and "chest day" lel

      hmm the only disadvantage to this technique in my experience is it causes slight rounding which makes it harder to lockout.

    Hi Brendan, i am looking to increase my deadlift numbers so i do progressive overload. whenever i lift heavy, i will feel sore in my lower back and hamstrings. Sore not pain. Is this normal? i have read articles that says i should only feel it in my upper back, some that says i should not feel it on my lower back, some forums say this is normal. There are so many different versions i don't know which is correct information. i just do not want to injured myself esp my spine. Would u be able to help? Hope u see this!

  • @ohhhjojo
    @ohhhjojo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you so much for breaking this down. I actually always use the hip shoot (and even sometimes it feels more subconsciously) when I deadlift and I reallllyyyy feel the biggest difference in feeling more comfortable in lifting the weight for longer reps.

    • @ohhhjojo
      @ohhhjojo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Joanna Rohlf btw totally understood the slack part - gonna try this out in my next deadlift day

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it seriously makes a world of difference. Originally I learned to deadlift without a hip shoot and although my quad drive was decent, my hamstrings just didn't feel anything, especially on 6 or lower rep sets. The second I got it down it helped so much!

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joanna Rohlf cool, happy the slack part was understood! It's weird at first but give it time.

      Now I understand, unless you drive down after you push your hips back, that weights not going no where
