Been using the free version since 2014, Hole 19 is the best golf app available. On the free version the distance to the centre is top right corner, tap the yardage & it expands to show front middle & back yardage. Only uses 40 percent battery on my Samsung but friends IPhone uses more battery. This is the best golf app ever, Well done Hole 19
I use V1 Game, does the exact same as the phone and watch with yardages but the watch also senses swings and tracks distance. So you choose which club you used and then it will measure the distance between the tee and the ball by walking to it and the same for each shot. Gives a breakdown at end of the round also, and the app is FREE.
Been using “the grint” for a little over a year now. It’s pretty good. I like that the gps views are google maps so you can see the actual trees and bunkers etc. just wish there was a way to track approach shots without hauling my phone with me and logging every shot
I've played for 2 years and have used this since my first round. I've bought watches, range finders and all sorts yet still go back to this during every round. Great app
James what about testing the Arccos set with AI to help with weather conditions to help select clubs and shots? Would love yo see you test those please.
I have a Garmin golf watch. It gives me loads of great information - distances to green, bunkers, etc and it tracks my shots. So it tells me the average distance I hit each club and shows me maps of my round. I get loads of useful data which I love. And what has it taught me? Well, I’m incredibly inconsistent in line and length, and I never learn from my mistakes as I make the same mistakes over and over again!! 🤬
Been on the verge of buying this app, even though I've not hit a ball in 12 years, but the 20% swung it.. right time to get to the driving range and then get out on the course and takes this for a ride, thanks for the discount James 👍
I’ve been using Hole 19 for over a year on my phone, wouldn’t play without it now. Quick and easy to get distances which are daily accurate. Don’t have an Apple Watch - maybe the next step!
Don’t know about anyone else but I have tried 3-4 different apps on my Apple Watch and none of them every move on automatically to the next hole, always got to be done manually which is annoying??
2nd season with Hole19. Just be aware, the free version is only to the center of the green. It does the job most of the time, will drain your battery and gets screwy if your service is not great.
Any chance of editing a round afterwards to indicate shots the watch or app might miss, or do you have to press record on every shot you want the watch or app to remember?
Yes u are able to edit a round anytime, been using it for 2.5yrs n 2 years of paid sub which is not expensive for yearly fee to unlock shot tracking n watch
18 birdies does all this and more without paying for it. Plus a lot of my friends are on there and it makes it fun to watch other people's rounds play out
I use my eye to gage distances on the course. Very simple, but requires practice. I do use landmarks, of course, but I also know my limitations and I aim at the biggest target, not the pin. I can get within 5 yards of a range finder, most times and certainly no worse than the yardages offered on my playing partner's watch. A man should know his own limitations.
I’ve been using Google Earth for a couple years to get the overhead and distance details, works like a charm, especially when you want to check for hazards and their distance.
I have tried so many apps and they do have value, but using a phone while golfing is a pain. I was planing to get a GPS watch that would do that, but decided to just go with a basic one to show me yardages to the green, hazards, bunkers, etc. I use another app to record my score when I am done to calculate my handicap and give me some stats, but when on the course it's the old paper score card for me - simple and easy. Not that the app is not a good one...I'm sure it is - just not for me.
To much faffing about your doing exactly what you said foxy does 😂😂😂😂 you get all the same data from a garmin watch .spending time looking out your phone a couple of times each hole adds time to your round and pisses off the group behind .
Love this app....been using for last 6 months....but wished I didn't have to carry phone across the course....wish the phone held the GPS inside it....
@@photoeducationbydaniel the issue is when it is cart path only...the courses around here are quite hilly...carrying or walking not best option...when I do walk 9 holes it is not a big deal
Everyone one of these app try and clone Arccos. Simply put, Arccos is the BEST hands down. For those that use it they know what I'm talking about. In addition, Arccos take the wind, elevation etc etc all in to account, thus you will know how your iron performance for time. No Arccos...you are playing in the game as if you are in the Dark Age.
If the device recomends a club based on current position of the ball, that breaches rule 4.3a(1) - first breach is general penalty, second breach is disqualification. So perhaps you should make it clear that you cannot use this device during a round counting for handicap.
@@Rincewindology The rules of golf give everyone the chance to play fairly. I would condemn anyone that came to a party empty handed and then greedily ate and drank everthing they could lay their hands on. Do you think that would be reasonable party behavior, or perhaps you would not apply rules of reasonable fair behavior.
@@ianburton9223 so what you're saying is I'm not allowed to use an app to suggest anything to me. However if I have enough money I can employ a caddie to do the same thing? Remind me again how Golf is for the masses and not just the affluent as perceived?
@@Rincewindology I'm quoting the rules of golf. It's up to you how you want to play golf - with or without whichever rule you prefer. But to be fair to all the other players around you there's a common set of rules. Gobble up all the food and drink at a party and maybe invitations to parties will become rare. Try breaking the rules of golf and claiming your prize in a competition. You can see where that might lead. I agree there's some injustice around getting advice from a caddie being reasonable but an electronic caddie is not reasonable. Perhaps one day there will be no difference, but for now getting club advice from an electronic device is a breach of rule 4.3a(1).
Been using Golfshot plus for ten years now. Couldn’t do without it any more

Any idea what this app is called now? Doesnt show in the app store

Have used GolfShot Pro for nearly 2 years and it works perfectly on phone or Apple Watch.
I've played for 2 years and have used this since my first round. I've bought watches, range finders and all sorts yet still go back to this during every round. Great app
Be aware that if you do hit the fw from the tee you have to hit the circle on your watch to count it in your stats
I've been using the free Hole 19 app for years and I love it. I like to have a visual of the hole and doing this on my phone helps a lot.
I use the Uswing app it’s changed my golf with being able to plan my holes out easily 😊

I’ve used Golf Pad the past two seasons. I’ve enjoyed the app and had good success.
One thing I like about this app is it let's you keep score on your watch for you and your buddies without ever picking up your phone!
I’ve been using the ARCCOS sensors and app. It’s been amazing and all the stats it gives you will blow your mind!!

Don't know whether to get this app, 18birdies or V1. Looking for comparisons.
Been using the shot scope watch. Works great and keeps track of all ur data without using a phone

If you tracks fairway hit, putts you get a monthly performance email which is very detailed.
Apple Watch Vs Garmin watch s62 which one would you recommend
Great video. Good useful information. quick question. what did you use to edit this video ?
Don’t know about anyone else but I have tried 3-4 different apps on my Apple Watch and none of them every move on automatically to the next hole, always got to be done manually which is annoying??
I’ve used hole 19 for over a year (paid version) and I can’t fault it. Outstanding app 🤙
what happned with Castore are you wearing both brands now?
Did you use the 101T James????? It looks like one
Have been using Hole 19 since I started playing last year. Really useful information. Just wish it was compatible with the Samsung Galaxy watch.
Very well demonstrated James and also very well played
Played with Arccos for a while . . . in the end I settled for less analysis but this looks good
Hi James great info again. But any chance you can do a What's in your Bag video with Chris. Using your current clubs.
What’s your favorite app so far James? I just started the trial for 18birdies
2nd season with Hole19. Just be aware, the free version is only to the center of the green. It does the job most of the time, will drain your battery and gets screwy if your service is not great.
This isn’t true. I have the free version and you can move the circle wherever you want.
Just move it the the pin position and it works beautifully
What gap wedge are you using in this video
Do these slow down pace of play?
Any chance of editing a round afterwards to indicate shots the watch or app might miss, or do you have to press record on every shot you want the watch or app to remember?

Does really look a good app, I will give it a look. James keep meaning to ask are you no longer with Castore?
Well I am waiting for the golf glove with the GPS embedded in the glove. I too use the Kirkland Glove.
I use a combo of a Blue Tees rangefinder and the Golf Pad app on my phone.
Is this better than Arccos?
Interesting phone our watch like you James the watch is what I like to use. I have an old garmin S20
Well done James 👏
Get a sky caddie SX 500 you get all that information and a picture of the hole layout
18 birdies does all this and more without paying for it. Plus a lot of my friends are on there and it makes it fun to watch other people's rounds play out
I have used apps on my phone. I also don't like to have a phone in my pocket while playing. I would enjoy a watch. Great content James.
Love this app, only use it on my phone!
On the first hole, you said the distance was off from the range finder. I’m pretty sure it’s because the flag wasn’t dead center of the green
i use a garmin s62 approach
Why don’t you give a review of golf pad
Try Grint
James turn your voice audio up please

I’ve been using this app for 5 years
Very interesting, I use a Garmin watch & Bushnell to work out distances but I don’t have the stats. 👍🏻
When you hit the fairway you do have to input it in. It's the ⭕ in the options you had
i use golf shot but cost £36 a yr but well worth it

Naw bro - nothing comes CLOSE to V1 Game - nothing..
I remember playing arcade games in the 80s and they were lovely and simple with straight forward graphics. Everything has to be too detailed.

I’ve played with guys that use laser range finders and have their lengths written on a bit of paper … is there a real difference???
