James I am a new subscriber. I have a game we play sometimes. I would enjoy seeing you and one of your guys trying it. Basicly how you play it is as follows. On the first tee both tee off from the same tee. Whoever wins the hole gets to pick his tee box and the loser plays from the tee behind. Anytime there is a tie both go back to the same begining tee. Anytime there is winner they select their tee.

I received Arccos as a gift and it does all the same things, very well. You don’t have to enter your distances for each club as it tracks where each shot is from and what club was used. So you can’t lie about distances. I’ve enjoyed looking at the stats after a round, fairways hit, greens, etc. because everything is gps tracked it can tell you where your misses are for each club (short, right, left, long).

I use the v1 Game app. I like it as it works with the Apple Watch. It detects my swing and prompts me after for the club. Combined with gps, it’s keeping track of my score and my yardages. Without the watch, you can enter each shot at each location. It also has a caddie and coach. Like it a lot, but it’s the Apple Watch app that Sets it apart.

I like the app. I am a 8 handicap. My 7 iron ranges from 168-172. That is depending on the day. I am guessing if you are striking it well and are at the top end of your numbers. You could adjust it as you go threw the round of golf.

I was just waiting for you to post a new video. Really enjoying these videos! I just went from 18 birdies that I have been using for a year to arccos sensors on my clubs. Love both apps but arccos gives me a lot more detail as to where I can grow and learn

Good app, but only works well if you know your distances are consistent.
I'm using Titleist 710CBs and my 8 iron (for example) is always between 145 and 149 yards on less windy days. My 4 iron can range between my normal 5 iron and 3 iron distances. So I have no issue in believing the app if it tells me to use my 8, but I still have a choice when it comes to 3-5 iron. Clearly my consistency is the issue.

Not a bad app. Seems to have the right tools if used correctly. I've had one caddy at Whistling Straights, wasn't anything special. Had a caddy in Jamaica and he was good, I made all the putts when he told me the line. I've also caddied for a couple friends in qualifying for some low level tour events. That was both fun and stressful.

New to golf and downloaded this app after watching your last video and I love it!!! What I’m finding hard is people are trying to give me advice ( which is lovely ) but it’s a complete contradiction from what my coach is saying 🙈 I’m right into biomechanics so breaking a swing down is extremely interesting to me, muscle memory is getting there now I’m using the correct techniques for different shots and keeping my sternum central l, hitting down on irons and up and through on driver

    James,
Yes, I'd love to see how well you shoot over 18 holes trusting the app to tell you the yardages and what club to hit. I often second guess myself about distances then get so confused I hit a bad shot. My problem is more with commitment, but that's a different topic. Can you give a bit of a tutorial on how to add clubs and distances in the app? Great content.

I am trying out ARCCOS at the moment.
Need one more round before the virtual caddie finally kicks in and I can truly judge it.
Not sure what I think of it so far. It’s a mixed bag so far.

Ex Caddie at The St. Andrews Links across all 7 courses. Best 2 golfers I ever had; one pro from Texas that was totally honestly about all his yardages and shot shapes and misses, the other was a 13 year old from the states that played off 3, he tried to hit the ball exactly where I told him both finished first 9 from The whites 9 under. Pro finished 5 under at 18 and the young lad finished 1 under (few bad blips on the back 9). Most caddies walk the course 2 - 3 times a day trust there best advice (they do get it wrong at times) but generally they try to adjust to your game and manage the safest and most rewarding routes and lines for you

It’s definitely a great tool,as long as you don’t let ego interfere.
Another smartphone app that features virtual caddy and it’s really good is Golfshot.
I personally use Arccos, and can’t say enough good things about it.
Shot tracking using sensors is amazing, and honest.
Also started using Shotscope V3 recently, only few rounds played, and so far I think Arccos has a leg up,simply because of vast data breakdown.
If you dig into Arccos data it will help you improve your game by focusing on weaknesses in your golf game.

I use this app. Very handy, especially if you're in the next fairway and have no easy way to find your distance to the green. I also like to use it off the course on my tablet to plot strategies for playing troublesome holes.
Downside is that it's not very accurate. Maybe +/- 10 yards. Sometimes way off. Plus it has no idea where the pin is, so you could be off by another 10 yards if it looks front and turns out to be back.
I'll probably buy a laser rangefinder to get an accurate distance.

Hey James, before I take the jam out of your doughnut, just want to say I really appreciate your daily golf related vlogs, they keep me going through my troubles, and motivate me to get out there... thankyou! Ok so I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but that lovely pitching wedge of yours @ 48°... is actually 46°
I went with the t20 wedge set in 50°/54°/60°.. that way the gap wedge is slap bang in middle of the gap between pitch and sand wedge.. and the 6° increment is then on the lob wedge, as the extreme.. suppose I could of gone 58° but it's a lob wedge after all.. please let me know your thoughts on your wedge selection Mr Robinson, did I miss something? You had me on the mizuno website.. I thought I'd made a terrible error and looked at hmb lofts and chose a gap wedge only 2° more than the pitching wedge.. but they are the same.. 46° it's only in longer irons they differ

    Hi James,
I've used a SkyCaddie for about 10 years now and can't fault it. I currently have the SX500 and love the fact that every time I stand over the shot, I KNOW the yardage is correct. Trust your decision and hit the shot. I pride myself on distance control - I'm not the longest (7i = 145 carry) but hit MP20 blades for the feel and shapability.
I have a mate who is an ex European tour caddy who has worked with Jimenez, Broadhurst and others and his biggest tip to me was to be honest with myself!! Hit the right club not the one that you hope to hit 1 out of 10 that distance.
    Keep up the good work.

I use this app every time I play. Tried a couple others but have kept coming back to 18Birdies. I don’t have the Caddie enabled as I’m not a Premium subscriber but have found that the distances it offers are pretty close to perfect. I have some friends that use their laser range finders and when comparing numbers it’s always give or take 5 yards of difference and most of the time that comes down to flag placement. I mostly use the app to keep track of my stats on course and to give me the “general idea” for what club I should pick for each shot. Im not quite at a point where I can accurately attack pins, I just need to know how far to hit to get it on the green in the general area of the flag.

I'm still trying to find the right app that'll work for me. I tried 18 birdies but it doesn't save my shots for some reason.. I liked the taylormade app but the courses locally here are very wrong in it.

280 y driver. I think you've sneaked a few yards there James from the numbers I've seen on the sim in the past.

Jesus, I haven't heard a "FORE LEFT" in one of your videos in ages. Must be playing well. Any chance of a more detailed video on the aim point process you are using for your putting? Would be interesting to see

I use 18Birdies every time I play. It’s a great way to help lower your scores for FREE. no more guessing on what club to use. Great app

How far, that’s a tricky question and varies round-to-round. I used my sc300 (over 2 months of range practice) to try to figure this out, but range ball distances are so much shorter than my standard ball (TP5 pix), and tension, feel, etc affect the outcome considerably. My knockdown and punch draw & fade distances are pretty reliable, but full swing can vary as much as 30y (7i) round-to-round. So why make the full swing, eh! Well, because when it’s working it feels and plays awesome. If I mention my 7i avg with range balls you’d probably thinking I’m delusional, but doesn’t matter, the variance and my lack of discipline (not just hitting an easy knockdown all the time) are the challenge...and why I’m a mid-handicapper
