Good review, I was torn between the epix and s62. Went with s62 because of price and I don’t need a lot of the extra health features the epix has, come to find out when you pair s62 with Garmin connect app you can get a lot of the same features of epix like varied workouts to track, pulseox, steps, calories, body battery etc. I was definitely shocked at the features. It doesn’t have the crazy wide variety of activities to track that the epix has but it’s enough for me.

The Number one feature I wanted is an app that uses the watch's onboard GPS feature. I don't like carrying the iPhone - period. Great review, thanks. Only thing that worries me, will the Garmin S42 and S62 be replaced by newer models ? Both of these are on my want list but they've been around for some time and are possible due to be upgraded ?
S42 came out in March 2021, I don't think it will be replaced in 2023. I myself am giving sometime to see if there will be S62 replacement as that came out back in Jan 2020.
