The most memorable part is maybe the very begining, Link being telepathicaly summoned to become a hero and obtaining the master sword for the first time. But really everything about this game is iconic and I could probably describe every event, dungeon, enemy, item and magic um detail. I must have played this a thousand times.

Definitely the part where you get the flute and also when the son turns to wood, that whole part makes me emotional for some reason, there's just something really sad and emotional about it. But then the portion when you fight aghanim, right before the battle with Gannon. That moment, having the bird swoop in to save you in a place where you wouldn't even be able to summon it really seemed intense to me. Link just happens to play it and the bird somehow shows up to pick him up and brings link to safety, and seeing that while Gannon is flying by and he crashes into the golden palace - it's just insane. Something about it just really hits me hard, this tiny bird is essentially defenseless but happens to show up and saves link and puts itself in Gannon's way the whole time, and in circumstances that don't normally work out, because you can't summon the bird indoors at any point in the game. Idk, something about it just seems particularly intense and it always just

My favorite part was the Flute Boy's story. That's what really turned me into a Determinator where the Main Quest was concerned. Ganon was going _down_ after I found out about that, no matter what it took.

    • @dudeman5303
      @dudeman5303 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Same! That and the point where the duck comes to the rescue and you end up at the top of the golden palace. Those two stories are linked in that way, and something about the story regarding the flute and how it goes into that ending portion makes me emotional. The duck can't be summoned indoors and it's known already long before that battle, but link happens to decide to play it in that moment still despite that fact and the duck somehow swoops in to grab him, and that's on top of the fact that that bird is completely defenseless to all of the dark creatures and especially gannon, and yet it shows up for link in that moment. Idk something about that just hits hard, both the boy's story but then the additional sentimentality of that scene. I 100% agree with you on that ( I know I'm extrapolating a bit and going into separate stories but I still see them as tied together because of the flute/duck).
Edit: I just realized also, that story about the flute and the boy was the first thing from a video game to ever make me tear up, something about that forest scene really hit hard. My siblings always laughed those kinds of scenes off or made fun of people suffering but when I was able to play it on my own and I got to that point it really made me feel strongly about everything

Best Zelda game. 2nd favorite game of all time. This game has absolutely no faults. The world was vast for a SNES title. It had a lot of dungeons, some really fantastic boss ideas which improved over the first two games immensely, introduced mainstays like the Master Sword, Heart Pieces, Bottles and the Hookshot, and among the best and most memorable music in the series. This IS the definitive Zelda overworld theme.

There never was another Zelda game like A Link to the Past. None of them ever followed the same well done formula again. Exploration was treated as secondary with Ocarina of Time and after. See, exploration was needed to actually finish the game, and sure while it told you there were places you needed to go to move on with the story, It wasn't the only part of the game. You could explore, find secrets, and the items in the dungeons didn't exactly mean you needed it to defeat a boss, hell in the ice dungeon you have to defeat the boss with an item you got from the skull woods. Just to defeat the turtle rock boss you need the ice rod and fire rod. The ice rod having to be tracked down by actually exploring and isn't even in a dungeon.
This is one of the few games where I legitimately can not find any faults. It's like a god damned perfect game.

It’s a fantastic sequel to it called Link Between Worlds on 3DS.
A Link to the Past is one of my favourite games ever, Link Between World’s is the SAME World and it’s fantastic to go back into the A Link to the Past world and see the world again, polished with new things going on mixing with the old.
If you don’t play this game then you are really missing out Trine.
From one A Link to the Past fan to another, you need to play it, it’s fantastic and the only true sequel to A Link to the Past.

  • @dr.deadworth

I just subscribed for these videos. I think covering the complete series would be a great idea. I really think a lot of people would be interested. You'd probably get more and more views for the newer games too! The newer ones are relevant to people who know about it but haven't played. The OLDER ones would be appreciated by everyone who CAN'T play them!
every video out there is covering the lore in timeline order. I was specifically interested in gameplay and mostly story of the games in RELEASE order. It doesn't seem like many people do that.
I also really appreciate that you've got the videos broken up. I like longform content, but this is easier to find exactly what you want. It's honestly not necessary to do it all at once in a 1-4 hour video like everyone on TH-cam does now. When you could just make a playlist and publish the videos as each is finished.

Nintendo needs to get back to focusing on all the franchise games they helped create. not just on Mario and Zelda. Mario and Zelda are going to be good no matter what. I wish Nintendo would put the effort and time into making a killer Metroid, Star Fox and even the classic nintendo sports games they use to make in the 1980s. Still love that Nintendo Hockey from the 80s that was so simple! Nothing like being the fat dude and running over people or causing the cartoonish fights!

The title screen with the castle and the lake, it doesn’t really fit the more vibrant and creative visuals of, say, the 3D Zelda games. I love it! It has a distinct vibe from the other games in that way, to me at least.

I have an original SNES with Link to the Past. But seeing as it's old, and I don't want to wear it out, I use an emulator instead. I haven't played the game in a while now, but boy oh boy, did I play it in the past.
My parents had a SNES for their wedding gift to each other, and it has been with the family ever since. ALTTP was the second video game I had ever seen, let alone played. I goofed around on it for many years as a little kid, having no idea how it worked, and it was only in more recent years when I actually finished it.
What I meant by it feeling like a finale, was this is one of the only games where Link gets the whole Triforce. That, and the fantastic soundtrack at the credits. I hadn't noticed until I really payed attention, but the staff roll theme begins as a major version of the prologue theme. It literally resolves.

I have NEVER played this game. I’ve only played the 3D ones and most recently finished Tears of the Kingdom which was super good. My first was Ocarina of Time in my childhood. My favorite is wind Waker.
Yet despite all that I can honestly say that THIS game, is THE most “Zelda” game of them all. This one captures the essence of everything it means to be a Zelda game. From music to sounds to story to gameplay. I can most certainly see why this one is seen as the best in the franchise by many and that’s without me ever even playing it yet. I appreciate the lengths they went with BOTW and TOTK but it doesn’t feel NEARLY like Zelda like this game. They’re so drastically different, if the characters weren’t named the same I wouldn’t have guessed it was a Zelda game.
