One thing I never get from my childhood is how that bird appears in the dark world transporting link to ganon in the end.

    • @ThyGreenKnight
      @ThyGreenKnight ปีที่แล้ว +102

I think that the barrier between the dark and light worlds continued to deteriorate and thus the bird was able to enter the dark world. Remember, you can access the dark world through the main gate to the castle after the first Agahnim battle. But that's just a theory... If not, then the eagles probably could have flown the Hobbits to Mount Doom or something.

LttP was one of the first games I ever played. I used to watch my older brother play it too. It was full of mystery for me. His save file character filled me with determination, wearing armor I had never seen and a massive golden shield.

The GBA version has you able to use a glitch to force your way into the Four Sword Dungeon without ever playing Four Swords.
I'm going strictly by memory, but it involves you getting into the Thieves' Town dungeon. I don't remember which ledge it is in the 4 big rooms at the start but you need to bomb jump off of it to be able to go through the walls. If you can meander your way through the glitchy mess of rooms, you'll find yourself in the Palace of the Four Sword slightly past the mook who blocks you from entering if you never played Four Swords. The dungeon isn't easy, as you'll face tougher versions of several dungeon bosses before facing off against a new final boss.

hey there, i just found your channel.
i’ve been into the speedrunning and rando scenes since forever and alttp was my first ever game. using exploration glitch to beat the game in 10 minutes was always my favorite party trick.

thank you for making content :)

This was the hardest game to beat in my childhood, well compared to Tom and Jerry on the NES anyway. The super bomb never appeared in my original playthrough on my cartridge. Years later, I load up the game on a whim. See the bomb and promptly get that rush of adrenaline. Nothing compares to the feeling you get when you overcome something a younger version of yourself struggled with. Ever since then every LoZ game that has a custom name available is always 'GOD...', in memory of that original save files name, to remind myself that it may take time but any problem can be overcome :)

there is a randomizer out there that makes alttp super replayable, there are so many glitches in the japanese version that you use in the rando, most of these are major glitches, most of the japanese ones are minor but you can use some of these as well.
also you don't have to understand japanese to play the rando all of the text is removed anyway

I’m sure someone has already pointed this out, but if not…
At Ganon’s Tower, if you mirror to the entrance from a conveyor belt the momentum is conserved and you can then use a Somaria block to clip into the left side of the wall to move past the loading zone for outside and transition down one screen. Ironically, the first screen of the tower is right above the last screen of the tower right before the Aganhim fight.

The first glitch I ever learned was a version of dark mountain decent using the broken bridge in the dark world. In my opinion it’s easier if you don’t know how to buffer into the walls. It’s a simpler version of portal shifting. But your way is definitely faster. Also, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the torch glitch for ganon. It makes you always be able to see him and it’s fairly easy with the lamp. Not saying your info or video is bad by any means. It was the first I have seen by you, and I very much enjoyed it. Very informative and well put together. Especially when talking about EG and key duplication. Great job.

I eventually looked up a guide and started progressing in the game. I think I spent 20 hours trying to get past the first dungeon, took me a long time to understand the controls and everything else. The 1st Zelda game worked the same way. All of the dungeons were fitted in like puzzle pieces in that one also (but I think they ACTUALLY stayed within their dungeons and no rooms were broken off to fit fill in spaces).

Thanks for the video, I do randomizers for this game and there were certainly a few here i was aware of but havent successfully completed yet. This game has such a treasure trove of glitches that weren't even talked about, but this is certainly the best way to kill ganon in the regular game. Maybe another video in the future going over how some of these glitches can be used in other contexts, or the glitches not mentioned? like using dash buffering to hover over pits or some of the more simple glitches like flipperskip or diver down

Sadly Flipperless swimming can only be done in the Japanese version of the game :(

@@PhobiaSoft That makes a lot of sense, as the randomizer uses the 1.0 japanese version to make all of the seeds

Fun fact, during a somewhat recent playthrough of this game, I couldn't remember how to reach that Fire Rod chest...so I just bomb jumped over it.
Actually, more accurately, I just damage boosted myself across the hole with a bomb, and it worked. So good to know that's an even better way to do it in the future.

Patiently answering the same question about silver arrows over and over for a year. That's dedication.
By the way, the Citrus Clip is also named after the same Yuzuhara of Yuzuhara's Bottle Adventure fame - a yuzu being a citrus fruit native to Japan and in the glitch hunter's name. They are responsible for a significant portion of glitches discovered and used in the game.
Interesting to see what a major glitches ver. 1.2 run might look like.

When I first got this game I played for hours at a time and eventually beat the game. I did however learn later these games contained glitches and for me it was easier to perform some glitches in Zelda Ocarina of Time 64 and even Perfect Dark 64 than glitches in Zelda A Link to the Past. I tried to get the glitches to work and couldn't do that like the other two games. I also found something called cartridge tilting that helped me in Zelda Ocarina of Time 64 as well and I finally beat the game, it took me less time to beat Zelda A Link to the Past and Zelda Majora's Mask combined. Those are the games I like the best, cool and retro! Play On! 🎮

Couldnt you do the silver arrow glitch after the tempered sword? That way when you get the arrows you could also throw the sword to get the final one

Wow, i remember a similar screen transition glitch from the gb links awakening. Where if you pull up the map right as you were transitioning between screens you could get into interesting places. I didn't know about the whole layout so i just explored until i found something cool like dungeon items where i never entered the dungeon.

Well, sheesh. I didn't know much about The Legend of Zelda as a series, but ever since the ALttP Randomizer came out, I've been fiercely getting into it... So I owe you quite the thanks for showing us some of those feats of wondrous skill. I know I'm going to use and abuse Bomb Jumping real hard from now on.
PS: Props for beating Ganon with just 5 Hearts and the Green Tunic.
