Happy Easter Taylor! I treated a lot of cases of milk fever when I dairy farmed in the 80’s and 90’s. Our vet taught me to give the IV in the vain. I never tried it under the skin. Once you located a good vein it was not hard to stick it and administer the fluid. I’m sure you could do it no problem.
Brent and his cows are lucky to have you, you have genuine interest in the farm and the animals. It's always interesting and informative to watch you work. Thanks for taking the time to bring us along.
Awesome job on giving your Jersey medicine Doctor Taylor, lol Thanks again for taking the time to make videos for us to watch. Happy Belated Easter Tay. Smart choice driving to the other barn to turn around. Stay safe and healthy.
Hi Taylor. Just watched a news story on TH-cam. Older lactating cows are being treated for a virus in Texas Kansas and New Mexico. Makes them decrease milk production among other things. The story was out of Utah.
Hope you all had a great Easter. The cow you treated must've been of calm demeanor, she took things all in stride. At least you were able to be in the truck and tractor cabs during the miserable weather. Farm work never completely stops!!!
Good morning Taylor Ha😅Easter to you an your family Brent Happy Easter to you and family Great video Taylor Always educating to watch , great to see you stay calm while dealing with sickness amongst the girls . Enjoy your day !
Happy Easter!! I'm impressed with your vet skills!! Wow...your weather looks miserable! Certainly hope it clears and warms up for you guys! Just a little side note...YT did not push a notification to me that you posted a video. I have 'all' selected for my notifications. So I toggled the notification selection from 'all' to 'none' and then back to 'all'. We'll see if that works. Stay safe, warm and dry!
Hi Doctor Taylor thanks for sharing another awesome video. Great news on the Jersey such a sweetie while you were doing the drip. That's the trouble with snow ❄️ when it melts it's a mess. Hope you got lots of easter 🐣 eggs but didn't eat them all at once. It looks like pretty awful conditions to work in, keep up the great work take care stay warm and be safe 👍 😊.
Thanks for sharing your days with us all I really enjoy your channel and they are very informative Bret seems like a great guy and he is a very lucky guy to have you sharing the work and learning from him you are a proper team. xx
Hi Taylor, your weather is still miserable but thats this crazy season. First time I has seen someone treating a cow with milk fever. It seemed to be an easy fix and you are always gentle with the cows. Moving more bales to the dairy to keep them feed while inside and Neil does look good. It looks like a good weekend to be inside with your family celebrating Easter. Stay safe. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.
Hey Taylor, you always have to watch the sub q so you don't stick yourself. Was wondering if you put in any oats out your way for cover crop on Alfalfa. Oats is in in my part of state. Happy Easter and should probably treat yourself to one of your favorite chocolate donuts. Be safe!!!! S. Ia.
Happy Easter to the 2 of you as well. I really enjoy your videos! They're kind of a reminder of what life was like growing up, umpteen years ago. We only milked like 12-15 cows, milking machines had no pipeline, we carried the milk to the bulk tank. Our gutter cleaner was pitchforks and a wheelbarrow. Other than that things were pretty similar. How fast milk fever could be cured always fascinated me. Also I could never understand why to was called a fever since the cow was actually colder than normal. Have a good day and take it easy for a few hours, if possible.
Thanks for another amazing video, you do such a good job making them fun to watch. With all the snow you have had does the milk truck ever have trouble getting to you before the tank is full? Happy Easter to you and Brent!!!!!
This brings back memories of those jobs on the farm that need to get done, no matter what the weather is. A lot of my memories is from working with a flock of sheep numbering approximately 4oo ewes. And just the thought of working and handling wet sheep with wet wool, makes my hands ache. But i wouldn't have changed it for the world. Love your videos.
Taylor I heard of a calcium supplement you can give the cows shortly before they calve . Well one more week until the eclipse which goes over me here in SW Indiana as it travels to Maine. Hope there is no clouds to hide it from view.
Taylor, great explanation on the milk fever. I'm gunshy about the IV also. When you mentioned cow breeds you left out Guernseys and milking shorthorns. I have shorthorns and they are pretty much bullety. I would rather watch you and Brent clean out the barn than do it myself. As always a great video
Hi Taylor. Watched Lumna Acres the other day.from New Hampshire. They got up to 13 Inches and was cold. Out here Overcast with sprinkles. Stay warm and have a beautiful Easter weekend. Enjoy all your Videos.
Hi Taylor and Brent, happy Easter to you. I know from experience that no farm stops for the holidays, you are lucky if you can squeeze out an extra hour for a nap 😊. That cow seems to have alert eyes and ears, it seems she will be okay. I used to have a calving pen with a good manure pack in it, it is better than bare concrete for traction for a down cow. Great video and take care. 👍🇨🇦🚜❤️
Happy Easter Taylor!!! I give the IV in the neck but the milk vein on the belly is the easier spot to give the IV!! I give they a bottle of calcium and a bottle of dextrose .
We're a small tie stall farm and had a bout of milk fever and feed lady said it was from low phosphorus and vitamins that regulate calcium and potassium. I found that interesting. Thank you for showing how to put calcium under the skin I've heard it done but not how to. Might have to try it
Happy Easter Taylor We in Germany are also way behind because of wet Wether. We cant do anything! Liquid Manure should be on Winterwheat, Summerbarley should be in the Ground, solid Manure should be put out. We have Water standing in the Fields like we could grow Rice🤦♂️ Nice vid as always👍
Taylor you work very hard you are a gorgeous lady love watching your videos. Hope the milk fever goes away. Mi brother was a dairy farmer. Sadly he passed away.
Happy Easter to you and Brent from Wisconsin! Keep up the great work and thanks for all the Videos we appreciate the farmers hard work and feeding the world!
Great video sweetheart 🤗 I’m glad that cow come too after just one IV, you are amazing with the cows and I’m glad your snow is melting. Hopefully it dries up soon..🤗
Happy Easter Taylor I was just looking at your weather and it looks like it is going to be warming up today You might be able to let the Moo Moo’s out for some exercise and stretch their legs Work safely and enjoy the day😊❤
Old farmer here, I’d give her a bottle in the vein first. The longer she’s been down the harder it gets for her to get up. Just my opinion Taylor. Glad she got up after 2 bottles though
Hi,love your videos and Love to see how you have fun working with cows!I know IT is fun,I've been milking them for over 45 years😊.Although I don't understand why you give the calcium under the skin(s.c.)I always mix glucose(40%)with the bottle calcium and use the neckvein(or sometimes the uddervein).Keep up the good mood when working.Greetings from a dutch herdsman.
Biggest thing wether IV or SubQ is to make sure you get all air out of the line before starting. She is chewing her cud so she should be fine, a lot of dairies in UK give them a calcium bolus, and a pail of water with some kind of calcium mixture as soon as they calve or if they look weak before calving.
"Dr. Tay" Being a farmer makes you an expert at a lot of skills! Happy Easter, Taylor.
Happy Easter.
Thanks for sharing
Another great video Taylor!!
I look forward to Thursdays and Sundays every week when you put up new videos.
Happy Easter to you and Brent!

Have you ever tried the calcium oral tubes? I like giving all none first calf hiefers a tube at calving, they are cheap insurance I think. Great job.
Happy Easter Tay, Brent and families. Thank you for another great video. Stay well be safe. Greetings from NE rural Ohio.
