Watching you brings back memories of when I worked on a small 250 cows, milking dairy, (when I was 11 thru 18 years old.) I did everything like you are showing on your channel. Thanks, Steve
Like I said a Warrior and a great care giver .We NEED you guys .I know you probably don’t hear this much but THANK YOU .Brent is lucky he has you as a work partner .
Oh how I remember those days but we had the Surge milk pails and carried pails of milk to the milkhouse at one end of the barn about the same as yours is, meaning no pipeline. We didn't/couldn't have a gutter cleaner, (too many nooks and aisles to the side) so I filled the spreader nearly every day in the winter. Things have changed in the 6 decades but still a lot of hard work!
Thanks for the memories. I forgot to say, this was back in the mid 60's when I was working on the dairy. I would milk for a week, when I would feed, feed the calves, help finish the milking string, then in the mornings I would wash down the holding carrel, when the milk barn. We had a 6 cow polar milk barn. Then we would eat, then roll about 250 bales of hay for that day.
Thanks for sharing, Taylor. We appreciate your time to make these videos, always good content and very well executed. Please keep them coming, makes my day a bit better.
I’m so glad you enjoy them, makes my day to read kind comments from you all! Y’all are so awesome and we really appreciate your support and kindness ♥️
Hi Taylor thanks for sharing another awesome video. Keep them coming there great to watch, Brent and yourself work together like a well oiled machine. Great to watch you interact with the cow's your so gentle i think the cow's like you to, well most of them there always one 😅. Thanks again take care and stay safe 👍 😊. Hope you don't get to much snow.
Just to go again, Love your attitude with the cows. Also noticed that Brent also has a lot of love for his cows. Probably could have gone to a hardware store and gotten some bolts that would work on the equipment. Glad the milk fever cow is doing good. And yeah, she has an attitude. Looked like the one cow was ticklish, the way she danced around when you were cleaning her udders.
Proper term here is uddet. A cow has one under, 4 teats. There is nothing obscene about this it is what they are called. Don't be embarrassed to sound like you know a little bit about the dairy business. If you didn't know before now you do
Thank you Tay, I love😢 this show! It takes me back to my childhood at my uncles dairy. If you have never heard Paul Harvey’s God made a farmer give it a listen, it’s my favorite. 👍👏🐄
Thank you Taylor for this segment, the sights and sounds of the daily milkings are soothing and settling to my soul, it takes me back to my happy place when I was milking with my father on the home farm... they are both gone now 😢😢.
Another great video. Love your candor. You actually show what a farmer's life is like. Lots of hard work and fun if you like it. I always enjoyed l my time on the farm. Loved the work and interacting with the cows. God Bless.
Good morning to Taylor and Brent it’s Thursday morning and just finished watching you’re video as always it’s awesome cleaning milky and working together I enjoy it and as always you both be safe 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I just started watching your videos and I really love your passion you have for the cows and y’all have a little different style in milking than another channel I’ve been watching for a long time called Acres of Clay. Anyway keep up the good work!
Hi Taylor. We just dug out from a very heavy snow storm here in Wisconsin. Many people are still without power 3 days after the storm . Enjoyed your video today. Milking the cows was always an opportunity to observe how they are doing . Great video . Stay warm. Stay positive and keep that snow shovel handy.🐄🚜😉
Milking time is a peaceful time, unless the cow is kicking, 😀. Squatting is the conventional dairy barn’s woe, the farmer always ends up with bad knees. One farm I worked at culled slow milkers, the owner wanted an efficient herd. Thank you Taylor for sharing milking time.
I just love that barn. What an amazing tie-stall barn, its got such good room. To uave the height wnd width for a decent skidloader to be able to work in is awesome. Glad it was vuilt with such a high level of craftsmanship.
Taylor and Brent thanks I am 73 and still drink milk everyday. Its not as good as the whole milk I grew up drinking but i love it with Hershey's chocolate.
Tay we got a good pile of snow and it is coming your way now. It is melting today and we should have 50 degrees in a couple days so that also should head your way. Stay safe and healthy Tay.
Cows all look really good Taylor. Can tell you really enjoy the cows, and take extra care with them. Most farmers take really good care of their animals and is good for people to see that. Hope your weather doesn't get to bad we had all rain here in Iowa over 2 inches might get late to get in the field here to. Take care. Stan, Ia.
Great job Taylor and Brent another fabulous video as always please keep them coming. We love your videos here in Ireland. Best wishes and kind regards Patrick Brazil.
Thanks so much! It is a great place to be with all the cows inside, so many comforting sounds and smells! Can’t wait to get back on the fields. I bet you are feeling that way too!☺️
@@tayfarmsYes nothing like being in a wsrm barn milking and listening to everything around you. I can’t wait to get out in the fields again but have more snow at the moment 🤦♂️🤗❤️
Sorry I haven’t commented in a while. I’m back at the farm full time again. I don’t have as much you tube time as I did at the saw mill. Great video. You guys have a good weekend.
Today's instant push button everything and your using a bucket that cost 5$ to replace vs ths of $ to push a button. Many old farmers looked at milking parlors and felt they would loose touch with their lady's. Keeping it simple may take muscles and time but no headaches over technology when it often fails. Progress = bankers becoming the boss. Keep it simple girl- Brent sure has great instinct with that skid steer- rick
I totally agree. The love to your down Jersey (my favorite type cow) was touching......as she chewed her cud she looked relax & trusting of you. 🐮 @@tayfarms
Good Luck with the Storm. My side of the 49th Eastern Ontario , We got a Royal Shellacking Complete with a Power Outage that took awhile to Restore Power.. Keep Up the Videos👌 👍 Question ... Locking a loose chain to their neck, Is the Purpose to restrict their movement ??
i use to put down a dab of feed to get the cows in, and I had a good cow dog, he would walk behind the cows you were locking up and if she tried to step out, he would nip it's heel, she wasn't getting away! All my cows had their spot, but if I had to change any I had a old Jersey cow that I could move anywhere!
That’s the way to do it! Brent used to have a dog like that when I first started working for him, unfortunately he passed away. I think he was 12 or 13 so he lived a good life but it still incredibly hard to lose them!
I don't envy you puting those sweeps back on especially with short bolts. Did that myself a few times with correct sized bolts. Crawling under those shanks is no fun especially if your not in shape for it.
Good morning Taylor I have a question When you were putting on the sweeps what is the metal outside you mentioned it was the orginal part is there a need for it
I will never forget the time when i was a kid i never liked milk and we had two cows to hand milk taking turns with my older brother . One morning the cow kicked at a fly and put her foot in the bucket and i didn’t want to tell my grumpy brother that wanted milk so i decided to keep quiet but he noticed the milk looked “a little brown” and i looked at him like the cat that ate the canary pretending not to know then we decided to throw it out
Can you answer these questions in a video for me please. Why do you open and close the slide on the bin so much? Its to break up the lumps before they fall in the bucket I'm guessing? And do you have any cows trip over the barn floor cleaner?
Watching you brings back memories of when I worked on a small 250 cows, milking dairy, (when I was 11 thru 18 years old.) I did everything like you are showing on your channel.

I can still remember milking with delaval pail milkers and walking pails to the milk house to dump in the strainer . Boy have things ever changed 😂!
Love the smell of the barn with fresh shavings! Farmers and solders do more before 5 am than everyone else
Yes we do

These bolts have a special head ,so they are flush with the sweep. Like counter sunk

Waiting to see what you got out of this storm. Down here in Mass we got ice then about 6” of the heavy wet stuff.
Another great video! Got 250 goats am milking 2 time a day. Got some early mornings myself😁
Nice work! Glad you enjoy watching😀
Hi Taylor good to see the snow is gone
Probably the snow storm we just had it was coming your way a lot of power outages very wet snow
I commend you and Brent because I think you dairy farmers have a much harder job than cattle farmers. keep up the good work .

Out of curiosity how is your herd average per # in milk? I bet feeding them all of that longer hay really makes good butterfat and other components.
