When Man of Steel came out in 2013 and all the easter eggs and references that came with it, our ideas ran wild with possibilities of a bright DC cinematic universe that would rival that Marvel movies. Now 10 years later it was all just one gigantic waste of time and money....what a shame 😔
Man Of Steel wasn't even a good movie to begin with nor a good movie to start a whole universe and Superman literally stayed the same from the first movie to Justice League. There was no training or anything.

2018 feels like 20 years ago... can't believe back than we were so hyped for the idea of an Aquaman sequel, we were fresh of the Infinity War hype and anticipating endgane. Flash forward to today and both the MCU and DCEU are on life support.
Endgame felt pretty definitive, they got rid of both Iron Man and Captain America for contractual reason$, we didn't knew if Tom Holland's Spiderman would continue being a thing on the MCU or not (again, contractual reasons), at the time Disney didn't bought Fox yet... so really, the prospect of having only z-list characters, no more Spiderman, Iron Man and Captain America... I was not hyped, not at all tbh. And the DCEU was already tarnished, WW and Aquaman were decent and fun, but everything else was flawed. I knew the MCU would decline in quality, but I didn't expect they would actually plummet... but the end of the DCEU felt obvious, they had no plan whatsoever since the very start

Agreed, but also.... Loved the movie ESPECIALLY for a Godzilla movie, but its still a bit overhyped by most people. The 2nd Act felt a bit slow, and some of the acting felt off but I know that was the point to makes it feel more real. Either way solid 8.5/10 movie in my opinion

Just got back from the theater. They tried to make this a Marvel movie so bad with all the one liners and quips it must have been over 100 EASILY. Just absolutely ridiculous. Forced humor is why I'm so tired of superhero movies. You go back at look at Raimi Spider and it seems so advanced and mature compared to this stuff today.

She might have been in this movie, but that's because they had already started filming before that court case started. I don't suspect her to be in much more movies going forward.
Amber Heard was definitely cut as much as possible, Mera has about 5 lines with Aquaman and even her "heroic" moment was about 4 seconds, she would pop in and out of action scenes and dialogue, I doubt she even has a close-up I could bet there was a different cut of the movie before Amber Heard's debacle and after that the studio demanded a ton a reshoots and a different cut of the movie altogether

Honestly, I'm kinda glad. Now people are more interested in creative independent films like pretty much anything produced by A24. But if they ever do restart the MCU. We need a proper adaptation of the Fantastic Four and the Galactus Trilogy already. It's been way too long to not bring it to the big screen. We need it. Mostly, I need it. Definitely will go to theaters for that. But who knows? Maybe, one day. With a great team, it might work.

It’s interesting how the DCEU had a number of good first films - Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam - and then was unable to stick the landing with the sequels. Suicide Squad kind of broke that mold, as the first film stunk and the second one was really good.

I disagree. My husband and I saw AQUAMAN and the Lost Kingdom today and LOVED IT! ❤️❤️❤️ It was great to see Aquaman with his son, and I loved that Jason put more of his personality into Aquaman. I'm so glad his half brother, Patrick Wilson, was back for this movie. He was great. Highly recommend the 3D version!!

I think people overestimate marketing, nowadays in the information era even a random ass Godzilla movie can be popular through the word of mouth. I will not say marketing is useless, of course not, we just had the recent example of Cyberpunk 2077 holding things together through pure marketing stunts, Starfield was super popular at launch, etc.. of course a effective stunt will work, but if the movie has actual quality, that alone will make it a hit simply because the internet will spread the "news" like a plague
James Cameron comment about Aquaman... We're doing a lot of underwater in the Avatar sequels and it's going to have such a different feel. Aquaman's underwater sequences were shot on a sound stage and then enhanced with computer effects in post-production.

CGI isn't as good as you think it is. Most of the CGI we all have seen has been in the dark, that's why it looks like good CGI. However every time they show CGI in daylight or well lit scenes, you really get to see just how poor it really is. Well that's for certain films where they were just being lazy

I just watched it. I'll talk with NO SPOILERS. My review I'll say it's okay, but it isn't good. The 1st & 2nd Act is very bland, and nothing happens until really the last 15/20 minutes. Matter and it's more of a buddy comedy movie with a lot of jokes not landing for me personally. Might have laughed once or twice, but it wasn't at the jokes. It's a buddy comedy similar Thor Ragnarok The visual effects are average but better than Flash, but not by much. And Black Manta isn't really on screen that long in the 1st 30 mins to set up the movie and sprinkled throughout for about a few mins. As David and the last moments shows up as Manta. Amber is on screen probably total of 8 mins in whole movie but only talks maybe 2 mins she's mostly just there as main cast background actor And 1 mid post credit moment

Honestly, they've should've restarted DCEU after Justice League. I guess the MCU got enamored with the idea of having a high caliber actor, but they botched that opportunity. Through all these years, only Downey Jr. was high caliber, the MCU had good upcoming actors here and there, so I can see why they got overexcited with Ali... but that excitement means nothing if they present the dude a horrendous script, Ali is not desperate for a role like Downey used to be

Honestly, I'm kinda glad. Now people are more interested in creative independent films like pretty much anything produced by A24. But if they ever do restart the MCU. We need a proper adaptation of the Fantastic Four and the Galactus Trilogy already. It's been way too long to not bring it to the big screen. We need it. Mostly, I need it. Definitely will go to theaters for that. But who knows? Maybe, one day. With a great team, it might work.

It’s interesting how the DCEU had a number of good first films - Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam - and then was unable to stick the landing with the sequels.
Suicide Squad kind of broke that mold, as the first film stunk and the second one was really good.

I disagree. My husband and I saw AQUAMAN and the Lost Kingdom today and LOVED IT! ❤️❤️❤️ It was great to see Aquaman with his son, and I loved that Jason put more of his personality into Aquaman. I'm so glad his half brother, Patrick Wilson, was back for this movie. He was great. Highly recommend the 3D version!!

I think people overestimate marketing, nowadays in the information era even a random ass Godzilla movie can be popular through the word of mouth. I will not say marketing is useless, of course not, we just had the recent example of Cyberpunk 2077 holding things together through pure marketing stunts, Starfield was super popular at launch, etc.. of course a effective stunt will work, but if the movie has actual quality, that alone will make it a hit simply because the internet will spread the "news" like a plague

James Cameron comment about Aquaman... We're doing a lot of underwater in the Avatar sequels and it's going to have such a different feel. Aquaman's underwater sequences were shot on a sound stage and then enhanced with computer effects in post-production.

The problem is this movie was gonna be pointless to begin with so I guarantee they didn't put much into the writing intentionally. Which sucks because the first one was actually good and set up a lot of good possibilities for the future. Glad Amber is getting booted from everywhere possible now though.

Jason Mamoa is great in everything he's been in, Game of Thrones, Aquaman, Dune, I mean he's the single best thing in Fast X. It saddens me that this movie supposedly sucks so much because I think he deserves better and his talents should serve a better product. Here's hoping he exits the DC stuff and gets to do really great stuff like when he was in Dune again.

They literally introduced us to mayor set pieces multiple times and not throwing us into them, the underwater ice cave (turning into the final fight). CGI isn't as good as you think it is. Most of the CGI we all have seen has been in the dark, that's why it looks like good CGI. However every time they show CGI in daylight or well lit scenes, you really get to see just how poor it really is. Well that's for certain films where they were just being lazy

I'll say it's okay, but it isn't good. The 1st & 2nd Act is very bland, and nothing happens until really the last 15/20 minutes. Matter and it's more of a buddy comedy movie with a lot of jokes not landing for me personally. Might have laughed once or twice, but it wasn't at the jokes. It's a buddy comedy similar Thor Ragnarok
The visual effects are average but better than Flash, but not by much. And Black Manta isn't really on screen that long in the 1st 30 mins to set up the movie and sprinkled throughout for about a few mins. As David and the last moments shows up as Manta.
Amber is on screen probably total of 8 mins in whole movie but only talks maybe 2 mins she's mostly just there as main cast background actor

The first Aquaman was...fine. It had some cool visuals but it wasn't a film I felt like coming back to after the second viewing. I had no interest in the sequel. It's a shame though that it looks like it, as well as the DCEU, will drift off into nothingness.

So from the look of it they seem to had been going for a Thor-Loki thing with AM teaming up with his brother. Should have worked, and the action would have been nice. Kinda curious to see what this was all about since I did like the first movie.

To be fair, I've read that they put Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) as the new face of the MCU before he unfortunately passed away, which is why I believe that the MCU has been mostly a mess ever since.
