  • @ellegtown1
    @ellegtown1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    This is so fun! I like to use a slightly wider strip folded in half on the top so I don’t have to deal with turning under that quarter-inch, but I learned that I make it a hair bigger than the math says because you lose a smidge of fabric in the fold. Then I top-stitch on both sides of the top of the binding.
    If you use a jelly roll strip, you cut 1” off and are left with a 1.5” strip the you press in half with wrong sides together for the front. Anyway, I hope this makes sense. It’s such a swell method…now I want to go make scrappy blocks! Thank you so much for the inspiration. Also, that fusible bobbin thread is blowing my mind…absolutely brilliant!

    I have sewn a number of QAYG quilts. I prefer to sew a row of blocks together, then quilt each row. This gives less seams on the back. Sewing borders on is easy, too. My scraps are finally organized. My last bin was sewn into three string aquilts, qayg! Love your videos!

    Thank you so much for this fantastic idea. I made a large patchwork quilt for a wedding gift last year and wished I had seen this video before hand. I am now using your idea for many more quilts as my family has out in many orders since the wedding quilt ❤

    Dear Karen, thanks a lot for the video including tips and tutorial. I Heard about QAYG several Times, but it never caught my interest as much as you did with this easy to follow and understandable tutorial. The advantages of QAYG are perfect and also an easier start into quilting blankets for beginners. Regards from Germany Stephanie

    I might have to try this with a quilt top I've already almost got done. It's been sitting in a tote for over 15 years because I knew my sewing machine couldn't handle all the fabric. 😊

    I'm not making a quilt but I needed a way to add length and width to a vintage quilt piece. I'm making a junk journal and my quilt piece is about one inch too narrow. I knew there had to be a way to add a border that would look natural and protect this most valuable piece of fabric. I plan to use part of the "quilt-as-you-go" method to add that much-needed height. Thank you for your wonderful video!
