OMG, Karen, thank you for this video and amazing charts. I’m so sorry to hear you were under the weather for a while, but glad to see you have recovered. Take it easy and rest often.
Such a blessing you are!! Stay well, welcome back, and thank you❤
Thank you Karen I have enjoyed your vidios so much.
Thank you,Karen, for your no nonsense but gentle tutorial packed full with helpful information. Thank you for your dedication to our beloved craft.
I have been quilting almost 40 years and I still learn cool things when I watch your videos. Love the ideas you gave for solving the problem of too few blocks.
19!! 😮 Totally impressed. 😊 You're a wizard with color, they are ALL so pretty.
Love the idea of using negative space. Makes your quilt look so modern!
Karen, Thanks SO MUCH for the charts! I have over 600 - 6 1/2” blocks made by our Guild members to kit up for Community Service quilts. This video along with the charts will make the process so much easier! And it came just at the right time!
where did you find the charts?
I just need to get the colour part figured out. I sew all willy nilly together. I love chaos!!
What a brilliant and helpful video! And thank you for the quilt math, I'm terrible at that, haha. Will print immediately.
Wow that’s so much work putting all those quilt size numbers together for us. I really appreciate it, and just love your quilts you’ve made.
Thank you, Karen! Another super useful video and handout. Always happy to do less math! 😂
Happy to help! I am also happy never to do the on point math again.
I have so enjoyed your videos. I would like to ask you to do a show on managing a large quilt while quilting on a domestic machine. I have been so disappointed with the current videos available. So many talk about it but not once do they show how to do it. I can easily quilt the edge of a quilt, but how do you manage the middle of a quilt? Whether it be, straight line, free motion or doing ruler work. All I am doing is getting frustrated. I so want to quilt my own quilts as I can not keep quilting by checkbook and a long arm is impossible, not only financially but I am mobility challenged and setting up a quilt on a machine is just not possible when in a wheelchair. Smoothing anything is not possible when you stand and have to hold on for dear life.
I just have to let you know that I think you are fabulous! 😃 Every video is amazing - filled with ideas, support and a wealth of knowledge. I really appreciate you and your hard work. Thank you! ❤️
Thank you so much!
Me too from Australia 🇦🇺
You are such a resolutive person which surely you apply to everything and task in your life. I learn a lot from you, you are very creative and I much apreciate your tutorials. Hugs from a follower in Spain
What a great idea for using scraps! Donating baby quilts to a hospital is such a worthy cause. Thank you for the very extensive chart to make calculations for sizes easier.
Hope you are feeling better!!🥰☕️
Karen, thank you so much for all of this very useful quilting information. You are always so generous with your knowledge and it is very much appreciated. I can't wait to start using this great info! 🥰
Thank you, Karen! Once again you have determined a very important challenge that affect us all. The handouts will be great. Looking forward to your next video!
So timely Karen. I have two sets of blocks waiting patiently to be made into a flimsy. After watching your video I'm ready to pull them out to see what I have. and use one ,or more of your suggestions to
I love your videos! If I had a quilting channel, it would be called "It's Good Enough Quilts!" Your videos inspire me to just go for it, without stressing too much. Small imperfections are only noticed by me.
Was sorry to hear you'd been dealing with health issues, glad you are doing better! We need your cheerful voice and sweet spirit in not only the quilting world, but in the world. Thank you for all you do for us quilters, we do love and appreciate you more than you know. I needed this video, as well as some of the others, but I don't have nearly as many orphan blocks!! LOL!!
Negative and corner. Fantastic tip.
I found it! Thank you again for this valuable resource. As a beginner this is fantastic.
The quilt with the gingham and the staggering???? STUNNING it looks so interesting to the eye and ended up looking so intentional!!!
Hoping your health issues are resolving well, Karen. Thank you for all you do, both here online and out there in the world.
You are such a good instructor THANK YOU!!
THIS is THE treasure trove of all. Bookmark it. Save it. Download it. Print it. ALL THE THINGS. TY TY TY TY! Karen, you’re a beast and the best. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS!
Wow, thank you!
I think I commented before, but I had to watch it again-and just tell you THANK YOU for this video! It has saved me sooo much time and math!😊😂
thanks for doing the maths for me!!
WOW! 19 quilts from orphan blocks? You are my hero! Thanks--this was fantastic information! I am inspired to dig around in my block bin and see what comes out!
You are so inspiring and informative, love your videos glad to hear your are feeling better 😊
Hello Karen....loads of thank you and ❤ to you for this video. I am in making of 2 twin quilts with log cabin patterns and both layouts are different. But in excitment i didnt do the math right n was stuck with short of fabric. But coz of this video i now have ideas. Many many thanks. Love you and your creativity.
Karen, you are a fabulous quilter, YT content provider, woman (!),
teacher (!), and friend I haven’t met (yet). Thank you, my day is inspired. ❤
One more comment: I really appreciate you sharing so many helpful and inspiring ideas!
You are so welcome!
Thank you so very much for creating such informative and easy to follow charts! They are a quilters dream!❤❤❤
Karen, thank you so much for all the great ideas and quilting information! In addition, I would like to ask God to bless you and to be with you to comfort you in your health difficulties! We love ❤️ you and need you around!
Thank you so much for all the charts!! So helpful for us! Much appreciated
Karen, we love your videos! Hope you are feeling well.💖
Karen you win 19 scrappy quilts. Love all the ideas and a chart to boot. Glad you are on the mend. Blessings.
Oh, so much work happening in the background 😍
Karen this is such a bonus for me. Thank you so much for all the information. Sometimes I get stuck with blocks and I have no idea what to do. But with your tutorial finally I will get my blocks and scraps into quilts. Thank for the math also, at wich I am terrible. Have a great day.
I have a bag of orphan blocks I was going to put on the free table at guild. I’m bringing it back into the house and see if I can make a quilt to donate! Love your videos!
Such a great job with this pile of scrap block quilts Karen. They all look fantastic and inspiring. 👍💗🇦🇺
Charts are worth 10x their weight in gold!! Thank you SO much 💗
Thanks Karen love those negative space ones wouldn’t have thought of that😊
They were my favourites too.
You are an awesome instructor! LOVE your videos. I began quilting out of the blue about 9 months ago. I am a craftoholic. I started with crocheting, jewelry making, macrame, weaving, sewing masks, paper crafts, then decided I wanted to quilt. I LOVE it. I'm 65 years old and there is absolutely not enough time for my crafts. I have watched many, many quilting videos and you are the most down to earth, people friendly instructors on TH-cam. Thank you for your time and energy teaching us quilting addicts.
I know everybody. Thanks you but you are amazing. I am so happy I found you and enjoy every minute of every video you make. Thank you again❤❤❤❤
Oh! My! Goodness! I cannot say thank you enough! This is WONDERFUL!
Karen has so many great videos, but this is in my top 5. Thanks so much for doing all of the math and providing the charts for reference!
I hope you are feeling better! You are such a treasure, we don't want you lost. Always in our prayers. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵😷
This week I finally felt that I was back in the groove. Thank you for the good vibes sent my way
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts , oh! I'm so glad to hear you are doing better! You certainly have been busy! You go girl! Now you'll have plenty of tops to practice your long arming. 💖🌞🌵😷
As a project Linus Coordinator in the California, I appreciate your advice to figure out who you are giving to first! My group needs 42x48" and 50x60" quilts most! Sadly, that is rarely what I have donated to us!
Many quilters just don’t know how to make that size. They just need to know how the block layouts work
Hugs coming your way! I sure enjoy your video's.
This is a fabulous tutorial using up left over blocks/ fabrics. Especially utilize negative space if you don’t have enough blocks. 😉 thanks Karen. This video is a saver !
my goodness- we've been away for 4 weeks, missed your ideas so much! Thanks so much- you gave ame a nother idea for my daughter's T shirt quilt, staggering blocks!
Thanks for the great video - hope you are feeling better soon.
Thank you so much, Karen, for this video and for the free calculator!
I love all your ideas. Math is a challenge. Thank you for doing the charts you are sharing. Life is short and who has time at 76 for all that math. Hugs. Joan
This video was good thank you👍👏🥰🌸🇦🇺
Argh! Enough orphan blocks for 19 scrappy quilts, more or less 😮😢. Oh my goodness. That said, I love all the ideas for stitching blocks in and out with sashing or with larger pieces of background fabric/ I love the steps and staggered columns. Awesome 👏👏👏
You are the BEST! So much useful information!! So many ideas!! I can’t wait to get to quilting ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you!
Karen, you’re a machine! 🤩
Ha…at least my block pile is smaller
You are a wonderful source of inspiration!♥️👍🤓
Thank you! 😊
Thank you Karen. I always learn so much from your videos.
WOW! What a fantastic video Karen! Thank you for “doing the math”!!! Those charts are going to be SEW USEFUL and are very much appreciated! 🥰
My head is swimming with all the different kinds of ideas. Thanks.
Perfect!
Thank you Karen. It’s clear that you spent an enormous amount of time and energy making these charts for us!!! We really appreciate it!!! Hope you are feeling better and congratulations on making all those quilts! 🌷
Sorry to hear you were dealing with some health issues, I hope you are well now and are full of beans again as we say here in the UK, sending you hugs, take care❤
The handout is FABULOUS! Thank you so much for saving so much time for a not very spatial person (why am I a quilter?? I ask myself that every time I cut or sew something just so I can rip it out. ;-)
You're a legend Karen. Thank you!!🏅
I love the autumnal blocks that you dashed with olive fabric, and grouped them in the corner….forward thinking, and I love it!
That is amazing that you were able to make so many quilts from the orphan blocks. It’s a good thing that you have a long arm machine now! Many thanks for all the charts! I cannot believe that you did all that!
I make quilts for kids and babies in my local hospitals too for Project Linus for 6 years now so I have tons of unused blocks I knew I was saving them for something this will save me from having to buy fabric for while.
Thanks so much and for the charts
Thanks for mentioning project Linus. I just found a local chapter in indiana and have sent in the form to request joining ❤
@@cashby1425 That's great news it's so rewarding
Karen, thanks for the great video for what to do with orphan blocks. It’s just amazing how many quilt tops you put together from blocks you had made. I do like quilts with blocks on point, I’m going to have to make more of those. Thanks again. ❤
Thanks Nancy. It was nice revisiting some of those scraps and the quilts they went into
Hello, I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love 💚 , and peace all over the world 🌏. I would love us to be good friends in honesty and in trust so as time goes on it will bring something great for us in the future, hope you don't mind? I'm Gabriel Wood from Brooklyn New York, where are you from if I may ask?❤
Thank you for this wonderful video!
Thank you Karen for inspiring me to use my scraps and how to do it! You are the most informative person on TH-cam!
Wow, that is an amazing handout which must have been a tremendous amount of work to put together. Thank you so much, I'm sure it will be used many times over.
It's tricky and I hope that I never need to do the on point math again 😊
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts Pythagoras would be proud!
It was a brain twister for sure

What a great set of ideas for those orphan blocks! Thank you again. Connie
Oooo!! I love the stairs in the corner one!!!
Do you happen to have a video explaining taking pictures and converting them to b&w? I'm VERY new and have no idea what I'm supposed to be looking for.
Karen, thank you for such an informative tutorial. You certainly have an ability to cover all questions before they are asked! Your generosity in sharing your experience and knowledge with us is very much appreciated. Can’t wait to try this. Glad you are feeling better, we’d be lost without your videos. Thank you again.
Glad you are feeling better! These ideas and resources are really outstanding.
You are a genius!!! I love your videos. You explain everything so well and your instructions are easy to understand. Thank you.
You are amazing and always my go-to when I need some quilting room mojo. thank you!

Wow Karen! This was a fantastic video! I'm going to watch it again and again because there's so much good information, and then you topped it off with great handouts! Thanks so much and congrats on finishing 19 flimsies! 🎉
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for the great ideas, Karen! Praying your health concerns are improving and that you are feeling better each day! ❤🙏
Great video! Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Love your videos and your no nonsense practical approach to things. ❤❤❤
Thank you for making the chart available as a download. So helpful!
Thanks so much for creating this video! You've given me ideas how to finish up a stack of blocks I made years ago! God bless you!
Another great video! I've learned SO much from you. Thank you!
Karen, thank you so much for the layout handouts! They are incredible. This will be so helpful as I have orphan blocks that I need to put together. I love your videos and have learned so much from watching them. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do for the quilting community.
I love, love, love scrappy. Such an awesome video. Hope you are feeling better!
I am! I really felt much better this week.

Thank you I will go back over this again to learn more
Thank you so much for the valuable charts! I really enjoy your channel.
🎉YAY🎉 Karen, very practical suggestions. Thanks. Your friend from New Mexico, Carla 🎶 💖 💐
Karen, again, this tutorial is so good that I have watched it 3 times and your handouts are -WOW- wonderful. Thank you again. Your friend from New Mexico, Carla 🎶 💖 💐
You are amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Dear Karen, thanks for all the videos you put on TH-cam. I'm pretty sure I have watched most of the more than once. I was so thrilled to see the one about the flying geese with the different colors in the inner triangle. That got my imagination going. Also, I'm so sorry you hear about your trigeminal neuralgia. I had trigeminal neualgia in 2005 . I went the medication route like you are, but I eventually had surgery from a brain surgeon in Birmingham , Alabama. I do have a small hole in my head now behind my left ear, but no more pain. Tri-Gem is just no fun whatsoever so my thoughts are with you, Sister. There is hope. Keep those videos coming. You are appreciated.
So far so good but I am worried that the pain will come back. Then surgery will be next. 😩
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts The pain is hard to describe to anyone who hasn't experienced it. Not one bit fun. The old fashioned name for this is Tic-Diddly-Roo! Yikes! Get the best surgeon you can; one who has done this exact surgery many times. You'll throw your pills away the next day and be pain-free. I'm thinking about you.
Love the ideas. My problem isn't orphan blocks, it's orphan fabric, leftover fabric. I buy more thani need.
I’m still trying to find that magic amount
Wow! Just wow and thank you so much!
