Can we edit the start and end points of each slice? I don’t have the MC707 (yet) but I believe if you would press Left arrow it would be possible to micro adjust each slice?! or as soon as you pick a slice mode (hard, mid, soft) you are not able to edit the slices in the previous page? The previous page maybe only allows you to edit the start and end points of the original and entire sample It’s crazy nobody on the entire internet talked about that yet besides this video😅
@@0x2049 you can adjust the start and endpoint of each slice, but you cannot do the auto assign this way. When adjusting both start an endpoint of a single slice, once editing is done you must assign that slice to a pad and move to the next slice for editing.
@@UnitE808 Great! that’s not bad news for me. Could be better but could be much worse. It would be amazing if you could do a quick video doing a deep down on this subject alone. Controlling the slices to that point, and maybe like, how to quickly figure it out how to pitch a sample to fit a certain bpm without bpm sync…
@@0x2049 if you think about it, loading one sample at a time is about the most efficient way to do it if you have to adjust each slice anyway. Once you’re done with one slice, just load it. Otherwise, you would go through editing all slices then go back and load them in using a fancy shortcut. If a mistake is made along the way, you have to go back and correct. The one at a time method ensures accurate truncation. I can look into making a tutorial on the recorder and sample editing.
Thanks a lot! It would be great to have a video to refer back to when I get my 707. 🙏 I hope you still feel inspired to post videos about it. It’s such a wonderful machine, but there aren’t many in-depth videos available. Many people cover the basics or the synth part, but there isn’t much on how to actually make beats, as well as practical workflows and techniques for composing a final song.
Great video, a question, If you have pos 1 and adjust the End point and then goes to pos 2 and adjust startpoint and then go back to position 1 it has gone back to the setting from when you sliced it. Is there a possibility to store the endpoint and then work with pos 2?
The issue you're probably having is that you're moving the end point of position past the start point of position 2. So, I would get the start point of 2 moved to where it needs to be and then try to adjust the end of position 1. If nothing Overlaps, then they should hold their positions.
Hey Unit:E… I’m trying to find a couple of answers to the mc707. I’ve watched a few videos to get some answers. I used the mc707 for a short time a year or so ago and thinking about buying one. 1. Can you use a usb hub to send MIDI to synths that utilize usb instead of using midi? 2. I know one track can utilize 16 sounds (drum kit for example). Can a Novation Launch Control XL be used to map the faders to control the volume of individual drum sounds? Basically using the LC XL as a MIDI TR8s, in a sense. Thank you for all these videos.
Hi! 1. I have never tried this. Since the 707 can send multiple midi channels over usb, I don't see why this couldn't be possible. 2. There is no midi control over individual pad parameters on a drum track, unfortunately. This is one of the main reasons I use a TR-8S for my drums and save the 707 for synth/sequencer duty.
@@UnitE808 I’m watching your iPad with mc707 video now. Can you run the iPad directly into the USB port? I’m guessing so since you mentioned multiple MIDI, and since it does audio over usb. If not, I’ll guessing the Roland usb to MIDI interface cable would be just as easy. Also, can the TR8s/6s do this as well? I own the 6s, and used the 101/707 when they first came out, but that was before all the great updates.
Love your videos. They're so helpful. Thanks for continuing to make them.
My absolute pleasure 🙏

Awesome! Any chance of doing a mc101 zen core option run through soon? 🎉
Working on those right now. I might even do a livestream Q&A with the 101
That's great, thanks for showing👍
Hi! After chopping the sample, can you change the pitch and key of it on the MC707?
Yes, in the sample edit screen. Press shift and the pad of the sample. Press enter. Select Inst edit. You will find all the params you need there
Thank you, thanks for cracking this nut!
super helpful and clear, thank you! You are rad-icuss-maximus!
Great video. Cheers mate.
Now I can stop asking you how to do this every time, lol dope CS!
Glad I could be of service!
Thanks! I just got my 707 in and this was really useful in sampling in :)
how did you find out about the shortcut key (clear - c2)?? I couldn't find it in the reference manual..
There is an update addendum on the Roland website

Is this groovebox supported still? Looks like nothing new is coming...
It is still fully supported. What new things are you anticipating ? It’s quite a fully featured groove box as it is.

After chopping, can you write this project, and open it on an MC-101?
Yes, but you only get the first 4 tracks of the 707
You can save the clip as well and just put that clip in a new project.
What about q&a with mv1?
There are free classes on the MV-1 when you register the device. I could do a live Q&A on it, but I'm not THAT comfortable on it yet.
