You can use the knob assign to achieve oct +/-. I do wish they added a sync with arp. Meaning, the arp only plays in quantized - so if your not perfect on the timing, it still matches up with other sequences perfectly.

unfortunately external device arp is glitchy and easily hangs the device under certain circumstances. reported for 101 and 707, i can easily reproduce it myself with novation launchpad X and 707.

Whilst the sound engine isnt as powerful, it allows you to record pitchbend and modulation in real time, both for internal and external (over MIDI) instruments . Does the Mc707 now have this facility ?

It seems to put through the entire patch & the manual isn't very helpful. I've cracked most of it's secrets. Used to working with Akai, but this device is much lighter. But the multi effects only seem to active on every channel. I'd ideally like channel 1 to have drums, bass on channel 2 etc & guitars on 3 & 4 with the two inputs there but i can't run the multi fx separately as it goes through every channel for some reason. Cheers for the heads up on the Undo function. That would be great for live dance music - Dave from Adelaide
The new features are great however, following the update to 1.8, I am now unable to play an arp on a track (whilst on hold) and switch to another track, turning off the arp on the track I have switched to, without cutting out the arp from the other track. In the previous firmware version (1.72) I was able to play an arp on the pads of the MC707 (whilst on hold), switch to another track and turn off the arp to play a track on a midi keyboard on the track I switched to, with the other track that had the arp still playing as an arp. This was really helpful for live performances (I play keys in a band), as I didn't have to record a clip to have an arp on one track to enable me to play another track on a midi keyboard without that particular track playing an arp (I hope all this makes sense....). Am I missing something here? Can I still do this in firmware 1.8? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

After the 1.80 update, the WAV file preview playback no longer works at my MC-707s! - “WAV Preview Level” is set to 255. - the samples are in the correct format, were also previewed before the update. - I can't hear anything now. I have two MC-707, both devices have the same problem. Where is the mistake? It can actually only be due to the update, right? Are you already aware of the Problem/Bug? Do you have a Solution for this. Factory Reset was unsuccessful. Problem still exists. Thank You....
I sold my 707. I do miss it. Its one of the easiest grooveboxes to record live on the fly with. What it doesn't have is a ton of modulation, midi control, trig locks, probablilites, ect that Elektron Boxes have. Elektron boxes are waaaay more inspiring to me. If the 707 had just a few of the features that make Elektron so special, I bet they would sell more units.
Really hoped they could have added an autosave timer feature...once I am in the flow I forget to stop the entire session...dive into the project menu...save! It could have saved me so many countless mishaps.
@@RonCavagnaro Yeah I've had for a yr....it is a deep machine but my cynical views are the hardware (processor+ram+cache) does not have enough juice to support it's depth. Maybe I am expecting too much from it to act like an Ableton Live 8 track machine. Try samples with little to medium weight efx and you will notice other tracks Synth starting to act weird n clunky. At times notes disappear or some sounds buffer. The Novation Circuit is much more reliable. The tones and efx sound 90% there but not crisp enough to match the sound one would design on the TR8s or Roland's Plug-in VSTs. I wish there was some way to mod it to bring it upto some worth while power handling capabilities.
@@dinshak86 hmm yeah I'm assuming some of the synth presets maybe have too long release which can steal voices fast. I have run into the issue a few times but I really have no complaints so far. I'll keep working with it! Thanks!

Rest I offload the synthesis part to external synths and re-route the sum of the synths back to a fader to one of the empty tracks. Oh hey! A quick trick i tried. Use the Lfo 1. Change the sync to ON. Time it to 1/4, change wave shape to Saw-Up and assign it to the cut off and/or amp. Play with it up or down. Clears the bass region when the kick hits. Can be done on the Pads as well to give them a touch of pumping/ducking effecting. Tried it already?
...do you have some information about the second side of motion (rec) since the update to 1.80?? No one shows some infos how to use the second side and to record for instance pitchbend to it...

Hi...hope you are doing well. It looks like you have roland tr8s sitting right next to your roland 707. If so, have you tried to midi them together to record most of your drum patterns and instrument patterns into the tr8s, in order for you to save more tracks on the mc 707 for having more vocals tracks usage in a song? From your experience with the mc 707, is it possible to record a lot of vocals takes for an intro / vocals for all 3 rap verses / vocals for all 3 choruses / and vocals for an outro (without the mc 707 running out of memory and clipping )? My worry with the 707 is how to record that many vocals / including your vocal key word adlibs / on top of the instrumental per song without causing the mc 707 to clip and run out of memory? I really appreciate your insight and videos. Happy holidays!
Thank you I do not have a tr8s, you are looking at a roland mx1 mixer. I am still new to mc707 and will plan to make many tutorial videos on it. I have no idea about the sampler built in, but when I have learned I will make videos. I am finishing moving the studio which will be completed after new years thanks!!!

there was an "area" control added in the quantize settings under input. Do you know what that's about? the update manual doesn't say much about it. The manual just says "Specifies the reference area when quantizing the input."

@@RonCavagnaro 7+ pages of menu diving hell. for a groove box this is very unintuitive. i do love it for its synth engine even though that could be heavy on the menu diving side.
@@RonCavagnaro agreed… I have several grooveboxes and don’t find the mc 707 limiting in this way. I do find that with all grooveboxes I need to get around 5 songs under my belt to sort of get that muscle memory down.

ANY HELP - I connected a Roland RS50 to the MC 707. Now my metronome only counts in during recording however there is NO click during recording.

i lost my presets but upgraded to 1.8...also dowloaded presets in the groove box file ...not sure how to get presets back

Hello! Can’t understand how correct cc from midi keyboard(mod wheel for example), motion is record but in edit step bars are not lighting
Go to settings in midi is everything enabled
All are enable, but yellow step are not lighting when I record keys with mod wheel, I hear a modulation but can’t correct on step
