You don't have to change those values for the AENV. When you change the mode to SUSTAIN, on the next page of that menu, you can set the Release value to 0. Those 2 settings gets the same behavior.
For anyone struggling with the right timing for the recording part of this method: What really helped me was changing "next clip" in the clip edit menu from "stay" to "stop" and then just pressing the sample and the play button at the same time. That way you dont have to worry about overlapping recordings. If you don't want your sample to start from the beginning of the pattern, it is still going to be difficult, but otherwise it works great :) Thanks Unit E for this helpful advice!
Using the count-in will relieve you of having to hit play and triggering the sample at the same time. Great tip on using the stop function for the next clip parameter.
@@UnitE808 With quantize on it's actually super easy to hit both buttons at the same time in my opinion, but sure maybe with a count in it could be even easier for some to do that. Anyways this tutorial is super helpful so thx a lot! :)
@@jesperna1 you’re welcome! Unfortunately, the drum tracks do not time-stretch, so they will not adjust the speed of a sample played when the tempo is adjusted.
I think I know the answer to this but...have you found any way to deassign the volume sliders to track volume or reassign them to something else? Thanks for your help
@@UnitE808 I thought so, I was just thinking on some songs it would be nice to ignore the sliders if the mix was already perfect... but they are a nice UI feature to always have available. Thanks!

Thanks! I wonder is it possible to record from external instrument to drum track for some pad? Instead of looper use drum track for recording long samples..
@@Drumsdude123 use shift+record for the sample recorder. After recording the sample, select a drum track then tap a pad. Hit enter to load the recording to the pad.
@@UnitE808 I have the same problem. There is a knob to set the end to "99" or "TIE". But both don't play the sample longer. It would be so nice when there is a way to set the length of a step in the step sequencer
@@BassWorkENTRTNMT drum tracks work differently than tone tracks. Extending a trigger on a step doesn’t lengthen the sample played. It’s a trigger. Tone tracks play notes with sustain naturally occurring when holding the note. That doesn’t happen when you hold a drum trigger.
@@tricks-and-tips maybe I can cheese it with a silent sample on one pad in the same mute group. I like to mess with drum chops creating a staccato type effect. The SP series gate function would be perfect

Excellent work as always. Thanks E.
I'm currently having memory limit issues with looper tracks, I might create a drum track and dump a few of the looper tracks there (just 4 bar loops)
Yeah, the 60 second limit goes quickly.
Tnx for a great video. Is it possible to time stretch a loaded sample. Will your vocal sample follow the tempo if you change the tempo?

Good vid 👍
Just what I was looking for thanks!!
Hey Unit:E, Love your videos. I know you used to have the plug with Roland. Do you know anything about them updating the firmware any longer? Thanx
If anyone does know about updates, they are usually required to sign an NDA. I can tell you that the 707 is still supported by Roland.
@@UnitE808Thanx. Sure, i've never intended to ask for details but to know if we can expect further updates, that's all. Thx again.

In the utility menu of the 8S, under the midi category, turn off RxProgCh.
Cool! Thank you!
Thanks! I wonder is it possible to record from external instrument to drum track for some pad? Instead of looper use drum track for recording long samples..
It's absolutely possible and what I do often. Remember though.... drum tracks do not time-stretch samples, so you have to record at tempo.
@@UnitE808 wow! Thanks! But how to do that? Are there any info regarding this thing in manual?

@@xpayk no. You get 6 minutes mono or 3 minutes stereo samples.
Got any hacks for the mv-1 verselab?

Is there no way within the instrument menu to edit step length so I don't have to be recording?
You can edit step length by pressing shift and the step.

Great video.
If only you could edit the length of the step in a drum track, just like a note track.
(that would make the process a lot quicker)

@@glutenguten1 not like with a tone track. But for one shots, you don’t need it. Just for longer samples.
