A great idea doing this retrospective, Gary. Perhaps it might become an annual event considering how much you get done?! A sum up of the past year. It's wonderful to relive these snippets of preloved videos.
There is so many TH-cam channels featuring older car restorations but this channel is soo very very different. Gary's approach, love and passion and just amazing skill set really pushes the envelope for automotive content. The cars are amazing but watching him work, project by project, is so therapeutic to me. If you don't mind me sharing, when i was a younger child(probably 7 to 10) i would just wonder our neighborhood looking at all of our neighbors cars. I would do this for hours on end to the point that my parents would always have to come looking for me since i hadn't returned in a timely manner. These cars weren't the classics you see on this channel but to me they were complete works of art. Today, i wash and wax my vehicles with such love/attention that when it's all done i just sit and stare at them for those same hours on end. This channel brings back those boyhood memories of when i was a child roaming the neighborhood. Thank you Gary.
Have really appreciated the series so far, my favourite was the rebuilding of the roof on the black Roller, no way I thought you would do it but...! By the way I just had the roof module changed on the SL - had to be the most expensive solution didn't it! I was going to do it myself but the unit cost £770 new from Merc, refurbs were advertised for more! Cost me another £180 to get fitted so I thought bugger it! Anyway all done now and guaranteed to boot! Good luck with the future Gary. Hope you get it together with Video Bob in Vegas! He needs you!!
I came to the channel about a year ago for the 928. Watching along is a soothing almost meditative experience thanks to your calm delivery, purposeful editing and of course the automotive content. Somehow, I feel a little of the satisfaction of gettting stuck in and fixing something with my own hands through your videos. It's like tinkering in the shed for a while with a mate. Appreciate the content and congrats on the first 2 years
Gary, I live my obsession of classic cars vicariously through you! You inspire me even though my cars are not as nice as the cars you deal with. An Alfetta GTV, Fiat 1200 Cabriolet, A few Jaguar X300's. Yet I see that rainbow in your shows. Please carry on and show us these lovely classics. Well done!
Great recap Gary of all your work, simply a credit to you. We watch and look forward to every Saturday morning here in Australia, of you next upload, thanks again and keep the content coming, regards Cameron
Hello Gary, I enjoyed looking at highlights of some of your previous videos again. What I admire about you is nothing phases you, no matter how difficult the task appears to be you tackle it. You really are an artisan, so very good with your hands and you appear to always complete the task in hand. I look forward to more of the same.
Hi Gary, congratulations on your 2 year anniversary, I’ve enjoyed every one of your videos, as an armchair mechanic now it is great to see how you go about sorting out issues on your vehicles. The accompanying piano music is brilliant as well. Looking forward to many more excellent produced videos.
Congratulations Gary on all your hard work that you dedicate to this channel, it has been the source of much enjoyment and relaxation for me and so many around the world. All the best from New York.
Thank you for the catch up on older episodes. I so enjoyed the class and style you employ when doing the restoration the majority of us can only look in awe at. I mean who else would wear a white top whilst leaning in to a Roller engine bay. The fact that you channel is a sacrilege. But I feel I belong to an exclusive club. Thank you Gary and the filming team behind the scenes.
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SECOND ANNIVERSARY. I'VE BEEN WATCHING YOU FOR SO LONG, IT LOOKS NORMAL YOU SITTING ON THE RIGHT SIDE TO DRIVE! HERE'S TO MANY MORE VIDEOS.

Two years already? Blimey, where did that go? Time flies when you're having fun. Many thanks for all the great videos Gary. Looking forward to the next two years.
The black Rolls is my favourite. Back in the day, they might not have been owned by the nicest of people (wealth rarely accumulates in the hands of fair-minded, gentle people, shall we say?). But they’re a reminder of a time when we ranked among equals in the business of engineering, design and manufacturing.
Hi Gary, just wanted to drop you a line, to say thank you for all your efforts. As a past owner of 300+ cars, seeing some of what I’ve owned, being featured is a double edged sword. genuinely look for your post every day. Great to watch a proper engineer working on car, we will never see the like again. Cheers mate
Love all your videos. So relaxing to watch. You have a way with words. You could have been an actor 😂. The videos with Tom were special, a great character.
Gary it’s you who give the people what they want that’s why we are here, anyway it’s a great channel and when you built the roof the convertible roller that blew my mind, your an old school engineer who’s most likely self taught , anyway here’s to the next 10 years.
Love your channel. The one that impressed me most was the making of the soft top for the Rolls. Incredible job and hats off to you. Speaking of which, how do you manage to have such a healthy head of hair! I'm envious 😁
What an interesting journey you have taken us on with your classic obsession. I have enjoyed every one of your vids, looking forward to following your ongoing journey . Cheers Gary and well done . 👌😎👍
Thanks so much for posting your adventures Gary, truly enjoyed. I was wondering how you know so much about these cars and repairing them, were you a mechanic at some point?
Lovely to see Tom again Gary. Congratulations on 2 years and thank you for providing always fascinating content. I am so happy to have been following from nearly the start and am so looking forward to what is ahead. Thank you for all the effort and time you put in for taking us along for the journey :) The Corniche episodes and the Mercedes in the U.S. have been some of my favourites but in truth, all episodes are wonderful. I am really looking forward to the red Corniche´s journey as well.

Congratulations on two years Gary. I enjoy all of your videos and I have seen them all. What’s interesting about them is that not only do you tackle all aspects of the vehicle restoration from mechanical to interior to a fine finish, it’s the care and enthusiasm in which you do the work. You do it in a manner of care in which I would do it in if I had the skills. Also your taste in cars is much like mine as I love British iron. My love for them started at 18 when I asked my then girlfriend what her favorite car was and she said a Jaguar. Well a couple years later I signed my life away and at 19 years old had my first one, a black 1985 XJ6 VDP. Right when the famous Whitesnake videos featuring Jags were in success. I got a lot of attention and had a ton of fun of that car. Since that day, I’ve have had many other XJ’s, XJS, a stunning 2008 VDP, various MG’s, Land Rovers including Discovery, LR4, P38, L322, more recently a gorgeous L405 Autobiography Black LWB. I’ve also had a couple of Arnages, a Red Label and an all black twin turbo T, a Mulliner Continental GT Convertible. My Rolls-Royce ownership has included a Fireglow Red Seraph and most recently a 2011 Ghost. You are a standup guy and someone who most guys would love to have as a friend. Keep up the good work, cheers from New York!
You’re a brave man to own and enjoy this eclectic mix of Britains best and drive them in a climate similar to mine!! New York weather is not the kindest. I hope you continue to hold the flag up for the golden era of British designed cars. Watch out for those NY pot holes!! Regards and thankyou for following the channel…
Gary, I realised watching this brief skim over your life, with the focus on cars, naturally, that it’s not only the love of cars you share with us, but your liking of other people. You’re good around everyone. Just being yourself, neither awed by wealth nor judgemental about others & so many examples of where you’ve just been kind. The elderly gent, giving up his Lotus made me tear up. You were gentle and sensitive to what he must have been feeling. Did he ever get to see the car again? I can’t imagine ever giving up my vintage Suzuki bikes. One I’ve owned since I was a teenager. Only my sister with whom I’m still in regular contact pre-dates that machine. I’d be inconsolable if ever that bike was lost. I’ve the same obsession as you do with fixing old things, but I’ve much to learn on the people side. Never been a natural like that, myself. It’s an admirable quality. Thank you for this, a truly exceptional episode. I know from helping a friend just how painstakingly slow it can be, catching the important steps of a tricky, manual task, while also attending to camera shots, sounds and the like. Then the difficult task of editing, not really knowing what people would or wouldn’t want to see. Perhaps your time in television taught you about composition and perspective? Mega impressed with restoring that Rolls convertible top. It is evocative of what I believe were better days, not only for Britain but also the world. I was born in 1960, so not too much older. Honestly, in the hands of a concours level artisan, it may perhaps have been marginally better, but a fat, five figure restoration, I imagine, to farm out! Some jobs are beyond most of us. I know i couldn’t have done it. Kudos for even attempting it, let alone getting such a good result! I enjoyed watching the many stages of the rebuild very much. Take your time and I look forward to whatever you put out. You are your channel’s greatest asset. I could watch / listen to you gassing with the others at Cars and Coffee for long enough! Finally, your accompanying music is well judged as well as a standout feature. It may be unique in the world of vehicle restoration to have that gentle, piano playing going on! All the best, Mike (Kent, U.K.)
Thankyou so much for your appreciation and kind words Mike. You’re right. The cars, interesting and beautiful as they are, are merely the catalyst that bring people together along with their invaluable stories to share with us. It’s what I set out to do in the beginning. It’s never really been about me or the cars that we all have in common but more importantly opening up our memories, bringing down the barriers and reminiscing. It’s what pushes me to keep making episodes. Thanks for your continued support. Regards.
A great review of the last two years, I have been following from day one and enjoyed every minute, inspiring work, nice one Gary. P.s. SAVE THE CARS, they are lying about CO2.
I echo that. I’ve been a professional research scientist at high level in the pharmaceutical industry, though terminated effectively into early retirement as a result of speaking out about the sheer audacity of smashing up the world with their fakery. It’s not only pandemics they’d lying about but also the “arm spears”. Same story on “anthropogenic global warming”. Bluntly, it’s all lies here, too. While I’m not a “climatologist”, neither are most of the talking heads, bullying us back to the medieval era. I am quite capable of reading the learned scientific literature and I can confirm that not only are we not in danger of damaging the climate (such hubris!) but atmospheric CO2 plays absolutely no role in warming the planet. Folks, simply refuse to comply with any “countermeasures” which are claimed to be necessary to “save the planet”. It’s garbage, a long running (50+ years) PsyOp, using bribery & corruption while using our own money to incentivise others. They’re also lying about overpopulation. The world has many crowded cities, no doubt. But the planet is very sparsely populated in reality. They’re lying about this part, I believe, in order to gain subconscious acceptance of is being imposed upon all the people of “The West”. Let’s keep it real and reject the false sirens and tyrants in waiting!
Gary, congrats on reaching this amazing milestone. I love your stuff - so interesting, so informative and a thoroughly good watch every time. I wouldn't miss an episode as I learn something every time. Keep up the excellent work. Thank you.
Been with you since day one of Classic Obsession Gary and have always been a huge supporter of the show and look forward to each episode. The show has come along way in 2 yrs and has just gone from strength to strength in my opinion and keeps getting better with each episode ; favourites being of course, Tom parting company with his Lotus and Porsche which you handled in such a caring and sensitive way - the chat over a cup of tea and departing in the sleet and snow made it just a wonderful episode to watch and am sure this was an emotional one for you to film. Next favourite episode is definately where you got the sewing machine out for the Corniche hood liner, most people wouldnt have even tackled it and left me admiring your perseverence and of course the end result. This is by far the best show of its type out there - the variety, the vehicles and the production just works - keep em coming and look forward to many more years 🙂Chees Stew
Fabulous cars, great learning when watching your repairs, I have my old Merc s class and XJ6 under covers now, doing a rear extension roof, and the skips are blocking the driveway, can't wait to get them out once the skips go.
Thankyou. Takes a bit of bit of bravery sometimes but worked out better than my expectations. I thought once, never again but I’m gonna have to go through the whole thing again with the red one!! Regards.
Great channel.great guy ,great work.Similarly I got a car in boxes 45 years ago now …sitting in a garage on Childwall valley road ,fibreglass like the Elite but one less wheel…a Bond bug no less ..happy days …keep up the good work
Good morning, here's a message from a fan from the Netherlands. what beautiful cars and how good that you take care of this for posterity. I have had a vintage Jaguar for 23 years I just had a small comment. I saw that you have refurbished the wheels of the Porsche 928 GT. Now it is officially the case that the Porsche logo on the center cap must always point to the wheel valve. This is for the purists among us. continue with this beautiful work, greetings Henk van der Vlist The Netherlands
Great vlog Gary. Emotional vlogs with owners and background music... Cars especially classics, remind me 'with respect' of women... You can't live with em BUT you can't live without em because either ways they cost you financially and emotionally. . . Wouldn't have it any other way especially if manual so you can choose what gear to put em in.!. 👌👍
Gary, a BIG thank you for all the work and the great videos. You deserve more than a million subscrivers! Best regards from Germany! "the love of cars, is what brings us together"...

Couldn't agree more! It’s not so much about the cars as the people for me. And the audience of course. Gives me as much pleasure! Regards
Yes i have to agree. Watching Tom's reaction when he had to sell his beloved cars really was heart breaking. It is my favorite video of the channel.

All the best,
Mike (Kent, U.K.)
Regards.
Great job Gary
Great video Garry, Thank you for amazing content and look forward to future updates.
Great video gary! I never knew you were in peak practice, I shall watch one later. Keep doing what you’re doing!
I enjoy every single video, regardless of content. Please keep saving the classics!
Thankyou
Always enjoy the show...never disappointed. Congrats on year 2.
A great review of the last two years, I have been following from day one and enjoyed every minute, inspiring work, nice one Gary. P.s. SAVE THE CARS, they are lying about CO2.
Max, we have to preserve our automotive heritage!
@@classic.obsession I go to the Remparts event each year as I live near Angouleme, I missed your visit, will you go again Gary?
Thank you.
Cheers Chris and thanks for your support!
@@classic.obsession I must admit Gary, I have a Classic Obsession obsession!
A wonderful episode.
Well done Gary.
My favourite car show on TH-cam 👏👏 keep the great work coming .
Thanks Pete!
Beautiful job on the top ... like 579!
Most impressed with the beautiful job executed on the Corniche soft top!!! Took a lot of skill and patience to get such a result.
Thankyou. Takes a bit of bit of bravery sometimes but worked out better than my expectations. I thought once, never again but I’m gonna have to go through the whole thing again with the red one!! Regards.
Great channel.great guy ,great work.Similarly I got a car in boxes 45 years ago now …sitting in a garage on Childwall valley road ,fibreglass like the Elite but one less wheel…a Bond bug no less ..happy days …keep up the good work
Great watch, really enjoy your content 👍
Good morning, here's a message from a fan from the Netherlands.
what beautiful cars and how good that you take care of this for posterity.
I have had a vintage Jaguar for 23 years
I just had a small comment.
I saw that you have refurbished the wheels of the Porsche 928 GT. Now it is officially the case that the Porsche logo on the center cap must always point to the wheel valve. This is for the purists among us.
continue with this beautiful work, greetings Henk van der Vlist
The Netherlands
It’s been corrected! Many thanks.
Just great to watch these videos, super chill , knowledge and a common love for classic cars. 😊
I totally understand. Respect for people!!
Much enjoyed the past few months following discovery of your site. Considered, entertaining and interesting; keep bringing your brand!
Best Wishes!
Thanks James!
Gary, a BIG thank you for all the work and the great videos. You deserve more than a million subscrivers! Best regards from Germany! "the love of cars, is what brings us together"...
