Great episode Gary, the vertebrae analogy made me smile, Peak Practice and Casualty wasn’t wasted on you was it! I lived there for a while, I used to work on my car and was always so thankful for how new the underside always appeared, despite its age. I’ll be back in a few weeks but I’m worried now you mentioned the crazy prices, sounds like I’m in for a shock. No pun intended, thanks, Ken.

Hello Gary, Thanks so much for taking an interest in my Jensen Healey and the family transition to the US. Enjoying your channel greatly. Your replacement of struts on the Jag and antiroll bar bushings are a top notch dive into typical suspension components needing a spot of attention. Cheers, Andrew Parker
Really enjoyed that Gary ! I remember my mom and Dad taking me to stafford hospital in their Minor van to have my tonsils out - I was 3 and remember it to this day; ivory cream colour and you could see the road through the floor😂 its amazing what a difference changing the rubbers and the shocks make and worth us all having a check now and again to see where ours are at...Top quality and interesting as usual ! Keep it up ! Cheers Stew
Hi Gary, great episode. It made my day to see the Morris van, it brought back memories of my pal Stuart whose brother had a Morris van in the mid 60’s and occasionally gave us a lift to school in it.
I can still remember exact smells from cars I rode in as a child. When you open such a car and that same smell hits you, the memories come flooding back!! Regards.
I personally love seeing the Jaguar Xk8 get the service it deserves. I'm not a HUGE fan of that body style but your specific car in convertible form in gorgeous British Racing Green color and chrome wheels is just stunning. I would be proud to own and drive that car anywhere.
Great update Gary..... Your right regarding suspension and shocks...it transforms the ride... Out of interest if Hollywood want a Steve McQueen lookalike..... 👍👍
I don’t know how you do it Gary, these videos are just so relaxing to watch, I’m sure if that was me, I’d be skinning my knuckles and swearing! Lovely to see that wonderful Mercedes again and to meet the LA car crowd. Thoroughly enjoying the channel, without doubt one of the best classic car channels out there, right up with Iain Tyrrell on the quality of content front.
Your videos are an absolute joy!! Thanks so much for all the time and care you put into showing us your hard work. There’s no one else as good or classy as you.
A lovely, chilled out video. I wondered with you being in Long Beach whether we'd get to see the 'Queen Mary' but never mind. Better luck next time. Long Beach looks much bigger than I thought it was. I love your videos as they'renever frantic, loud or rushed. Just calm, steady and methodical. I really like that.

Those Jaguar engineers made great looking suspension. Poly bushes can be a better long term solution than OEM rubber IMO. Transformed several Porsche’s I owned.
I've been working on my '97 XK8 FOREVER now. Thought I would replace the upper ball joints, which led to new rotors and pads, which led to new shocks and top bushes, which led to new lower ball joints cause why not since I'm already here. Just so you know, you have to disconnect the steering rack to remove the lower control arm because it is one ten millionth of an inch too long. I don't seem to have as much fun as you do. Maybe I need music??

Hello Gary, I live on the Wirral and own a 2004 XK8 with 53000 miles. Just come back from completing the NC500 and noticed on nearing home a squeak from the front suspension. @classic.obsession That’s a result! I look forward to seeing you do the work on the 928. I owned a couple of 944's when I lived in the UK, so have a soft spot for the marque!
Thinking about the cost of maintenance it is worth comparing that with the price of new vehicles. When you have a fine car with a sound body and lovely interior, why not keep the vehicle going and continue to enjoy it?
It’s exactly what I do but it’s shocking how much better the longevity and quality of the older cars. Suspension on most modern cars lasts 5 minutes. That Mercedes, 66 years old and I’m convinced it’s probably the first time it’s ever been refreshed. Regards.
I wouldn’t bother…. a checkover and refresh should be fine, it’s not going to be driving a big sound system or anything “juicy”… shame to mod the car unnecessarily really…. Nice to see all the overdue suspension and mounting jobs done, two lovely cars all set for LA cruising now !
Agree with that wholeheartedly. All my classics in the past have been used as daily drivers so in the uk , with our bleak winters, it kinda made sense but I’ll probably rebuild the existing dynamo on this. Regards
@@classic.obsession Yeah i was surprised to hear that you were going to switch to a new alternator instead of rebuilting the vintage original unit from the car. I guess you changed your mind. Good show!
lol there not many folk that turn up to a garage in white clothes. U can see there that second spring could have been fitted to a customers car.
