I still think it's criminal that this channel doesn't have 500k subscribers. It's a gem and finding people who work meticulously like Gary and do so on really interesting cars? Nothing better.
not sure why it has not, unless there is some sort of algorisms that are used by TH-cam, I have promoted Gary's channel or other forums I an in on Facebook regarding restorations, so hopefully if we all do this Gary will get to 500K subscribers :)
Excellent....it's almost therapeutic watching you work ... Great upload and thank you for the hours and hours of editing to keep it interesting... In my world 10/10 👍
Why I think your channel is the best one out there is because you can figure out how these jobs are done, an education right, Then you can get a good technician to do the job. Then you know what they are doing so the conversation is on the same page . I like to get mechanic to do the work. I helped my friend in his garage for two years and it was very informative. They definitely earn every penny this is a job hard on the body
Gary, What a sight for sore eyes! What a treat to see your Corniche work update! What a nice car it will be! They don’t build cars like that anymore! Can’t wait to see the car repainted the grey that you want! Hope my old Corniche will get the „spa treatment“, you are giving your Corniche! Thanks for the lovely upload! Always so much fun to see you working on one of your classic cars!❤
Gary, I know you already know this but your camera work is exemplory and really adds so much to the story you tell in each compelling video - fantastic stuff, thank you.
Quality as usual - well worth waiting for and loved the episode Gary ! The dry ice blasting has certainly made a difference and clearly demonstrated the benefits over sand blasting ! Great to see the rolls coming together and the meticulous attention to detail (as always ) on the brakes - makes this so much more dooable for us home mechanics 🙂keep em coming ! Cheers stew
Another informative and interesting video Thoroughly enjoyed I’ve also noted Gary, you’re slowly amassing a car yard hopefully not morphing into a hoarder? Probably need a yard sale!
Great video. Your patience is inspiring. I'm working on an old 2008 Elantra trying to replace old and worn out suspension and brake parts. there is always a bolt or two that never wants to come off and with my limited tools makes it more fun. Thanks.
Yep. My patience is sometimes pushed to the limit when I’m over in La with a huge collection of odds and sods of tools! The problem was i wasn’t to know the job was going to turn into a full resto so I just bought bits and bobs for how and when I needed them. I should’ve purchased a proper set and made my life easier! Regards.
Love your program, just 1 tip. Packing wheel bearing, don't smear grease on the outside rather Put grease in left palm hold bearing with right hand while scraping large end of bearing on edge of grease grease will pack between rollers. Works really fast.
Gary, I love your Rolls Royce Videos: Howdy from Texas. Big fan. RROC and RREC member as well. Can you keep doing more videos of the Corniche and perhaps do more Rolls Royce content for young enthusiasts like myself? I love the Crewe era Rollers. Cheers x
Another great video Gary i was a Bus Mechanic from 75 to 90 our parts washer was a bucket of paraffin how things have changed keep the videos coming very enjoyable Colin
I'd have used Lanoguard as my wheel arch protection but each to their own. Just done my classic underneath in it and am amazed at how fresh it has made a 28 yr old vehicle look.
What I could never ever understand is this worldwide never ending obsession with dogs! I haven't watched one single video since the invention of cell phones that does not have freaking dogs in it somehow someway some shape and some form! There ALWAYS has to be a freaking dog! What we need is a dog series on TH-cam that shows it being interrupted occasionally by a guy working on his car. Wouldn't that be novel?
Hi Gary I love your videos they are really great to watch. The level of detail with this rolls rebuild it is incredible. I really am growing fond of the red paint work on this rolls, it would be a shame to repaint it another colour as it suits the lines of the car well. As already mentioned Elton John clip had one in this colour and really suits. Look forward to future videos of this car. Have watched other videos such as the Mercedes W111 and was blown away with that car. Thanks again for a great escape with your video production.
Doing a proper job Gary ,it’s well worth looking after it,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴Will let my friend know about the oil that you’ve given your dogs cheers 👌👌
There probably aren’t 500k people who remember what this sort of work was like - I’m flashing back to the 60s and 70s m’self. Different times, better maybe, but fuel injection and antilock brakes have changed a lot!
Older cars seem complicated but are genius in their simplicity and design. Sometimes I think technology is going backwards, especially with the debacle and lack of sustainability of electric cars. Regards.
Another really enjoyable video, Gary. Many other car channels have now started to irritate me for various reasons. There are only really two now that I enjoy. This one and Waldo's. Waldo is another guy, like you, who does everything himself, and does things properly.
Axel. Go back to my episodes 46 and 48 where I rebuild them, including splitting of the hubs from start to finish. As I explained, it’s pointless for me to film all over again as it’s a tricky, lengthy process. Regards
Hi Gary, I love your channel which I have followed from the very beginning especially so as I am a fellow thesp and classic car nut. Keep up the good work.
Fascinating video Gary. I didn't know these had two calipers. Dry ice cleaning result like magic. I've got a thirteen year old Jack, i think the cbd oil might help her too.
Great work Gary. If you have the Know how you can save yourself a fortune. I was watching an episode of Banger & Cash car restoration, the other day . They had a mint Rolls Royce which they paid £13000 for. It needed recommissioning as it had been stood for some years. They took it to a specialist. The parts cost £2800 and the labour cost £6000 . This was only minimal work like service and the rear air suspension. Just shows you if you are like Gary what you can save. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What an absolute joy to see the notification of your latest episode earlier, now I’m sitting in my local with a pint of the black stuff and thoroughly enjoying watching you. Proper relaxing watch as always Gary. I think you’re fab mate !
Gary another quality piece of work sorry to hear of your mum Mine passed about the same time and so missed the cbd is a great product for many ailments Thanks John your friend from Glasgow
Great video Gary ,ironically only yesterday I was introduced to the magic wonders of vapour blasting at a friends workshop reducing a mechanical rust removal process on some old rusty wiper arms from probably two hours to around 5 minutes …the appliance of Science!
The more I get to know these cars, the more I’m blown away by their engineering. Built through the times of severe austerity when other British cars were embarrassing the world with overpowered unions, massive strikes and substandard build quality. With their superb craftsmanship and innovative design, these cars were on par with the Mercedes Benz being produced at the time. A reminder of what once made us proud and this nation great. What happened!! Regards.
Gary, you really take the intimidation factor out of Rolls/Bentley service. Sure it's "different" and a bit fussy, but all doable and from one's home workshop. Outstanding content. Question though. What would you suggest a budget should be for the dry ice cleaning on something similar to the Corniche? I'm so fascinated by it and my starting point is usually what you have here, not the 10K mile barn finds that I see online.
I’m paying them a visit with the Lotus next week when I’ll have a conversation with them and let them work their magic. I’ll get back to you next week. Regards
3.46 This is a hub cap ! Not to be confused with a Wheel Trim. Are they Lucas Girling units ? Lovely to see the copper ease grease being applied to the back of the pads. I spy with my little eye an XJS. Amazing difference that dry ice cleaning system makes. Curious to know if it’s like Heineken and reaches parts other cleaners can’t reach ?
I don’t know if this would work with the Rolls braking system, one of the things I used to do was undo the cap on the brake fluid reservoir cover it with cling film then replace cap . This would give better seal to create vacuum to prevent excess fluid loss whilst working on brakes / lines etc,
hope we got lots of rolls Royce videos next year brilliant this is . can you help me how do i cheak for oil pressure on a mpw 2 door coupe with no gauge on dash they did not come with a gauge 1969 sir
I can rebuild them but interesting point is Introcar don’t insist on an exchange basis. You buy the calliper and it’s yours. Flying spares do. Like most companies they keep a deposit returnable on return of the old units. Regards.
You took a lot of good kit off Gary, a lot of people would have just cleaned up and maybe replaced the hoses! The pads and discs looked like they had at least another 30k left on them!
@@classic.obsession That explains it then. The motor looks great and is going to be marvellous! Can't wait to see it parked outside the Lygon Arms, they may pay YOU to stay there next time!!!!
I think when they’re rebuilt, whatever paint is to hand is used. Was the same at the factory. It doesn’t really matter as within s coupla months they fade anyway. Regards

I just saw Gary's Mercedes California rebuilds today. Have subscribed and will post on my Facebook. Should get you more eyeballs.
Appreciated!
It will get there. This channel is up there with Iain Tyrrell, just more down to earth way of doing things.
The music on these videos is genius, a great juxtaposition between the clean wheels and classic grill on this car, colour is perfect.
agreed, doesn't take from the video and drown out its natural sound like the blaring over dubbed music and time lapses.
I totally agree and I’ve told Gary that’s on a previous video, it’s so chilling.
This is therapy
Gary - your calm car videos bring some sanity to my often frustrating, world of maintaining my vehicles. Many thanks and keep them coming..!
